So why does it kill my copy and paste function when I copy something from a PDF document? The part that I copied gets… stuck somehow and is all I get when trying to copy anything else until I restart the laptop. (Which is decidedly stupid when filling out one of those PDF-documents that can't be saved )

Did you try the Portable Apps I sent you?

It’s just an automatic move and then the PDF sentence gets stuck in the clipboard somehow and blocks it for any more copies. Did you try the Portable Apps I sent you? Not yet (my priority is to find a washing machine first), but it does look better than the package that came with my USB stick. Especially the no trace thing.

So I'm looking at getting a new laptop, something in the ultraportable range. Ideally something with a screen size of less than 13" and weighing in at around or below 3lbs, but not a wimpy little netbook. As of right now I've got 3 contenders.
Sony Viao TT Lenovo Thinkpad x200 Macbook Air
At this point I'm leaning towards the Lenovo, its the most bang for buck and has the best battery life. The Sony would be the most multi-media oriented one but its by far the most expensive. It also might be knocked out of contention because I think Sony are dropping it from their lineup. The MacBook Air is the completely impractical but too sleek and sexy and light to ignore, option. I've been a PC person my hole life but the Air is just so small and light its almost worth the lack of ports and relatively poor battery life, almost, plus the prices have come down on those alot making it the cheapest option of the three believe it or not.
Anybody have any experience with any of these models?

PLEASE somebody tell me there’s a way to change text in PDF files? I freaking hate stupid uni-bureaucrats making everything complicated and thinking the world evolves around them. (Somewhere in between denial over in all likelihood having to spend another few hours with something that should take some minutes and ready to kick something! As if coming home to a broken washing machine and microwave and feeling ugh anyway wasn’t enough idiocy for one day ) Any programs for saving my day? Off to search for something soft to bang my head into.

I think you need a PDF writer - which essentially is the proper program that creates PDF files, not the freebie reader.
* Sometimes even with the writer it isn't possible to change text due to font conflicts.

Thanks. At least it seems there’s an Open Office add-on. (Free, unlike the 100.000 version of Adobe the IT support at work claimed to be the only solution when somebody else asked about the same problem :Of course some mysterious problem keeps add-ons from being installed in my open office version. Maybe I should just throw the laptop into the broken washing machine or manipulate it with some broken microwaves for the half-broken internet connection.

I think the problem might be that your OO is in German, and that could pose compatibility issues, you might try to install the English version, or use the Portable Apps I told you about

Hm, when I reload DAR ('home') I get this little message that 'Firefox prevented this site to automatically redirect to another site'. Seems to load fine though, so I wasn't tempted to click 'allow' and check 'another site'. Pretty sure this didn't happen yesterday... Anybody else or is it just my strange brainwaves again? Any explanations?

mari and her strange brainwaves didn't get an answer. Don't you guys know anything? I need a new and I want an illuminated one. The six important keys must be like this. Insert ... Home .. Page Up Delete .. End ..... Page Down I have three keyboards and only one has the above keyboard and it's going koo koo. Does anybody out there have any ideas? I had to return to say, "Not wireless."

Yours is beautiful Michele but I have to have the 6 important buttons as shown. It's my long fingers. Thanks for responding. It's nice to have members interested. Insert ... Home .. Page Up Delete .. End ..... Page Down Mr.Clark - is yours a Saitek eclipse - I found it at Amazon, I don't have one like it. I thought it might be the one. Upon your recommendation I shall order it today. If it doesn't meet all the requirements - I shall send it to you for a refund. ;D now I have to browse Amazon and find more stuff I can't live without. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. I do need a new optical mouse - wired. And I always need books. Speaking of books - my favorite mystery/cop author, John Sandford, has a new book coming out May 18th. I've never buy new books at amazon because I'm always so eager to get them. I'm usually in line at the Borders in Westwood before they open. The good thing is - when the mail comes from Amazon it's like Christmas. I'm going to order a bunch of stuff so get your order in early.

I know its a Saitek, forget the name but if thats what the pictures of then yes. I bought mine at best buy and loved it, I'm kind of pissed because since I moved over here and only use my laptop my mother stole it. Its a great keyboard and it'll light up in a few different colors, its got a great layout and I thought the responsiveness of the keys when typing was just right.
