www.afterdawn.com/news/article.cfm/2010/04/26/sony_discontinues_floppy_discs_in_japanSony has announced this weekend that they will be discontinuing all sales of the 3.5-inch floppy disc in Japan starting in 2011, effectively killing off the three decade old disk type. The company helped pioneer the disk in 1981, introducing the technology that year and then starting to sell the discs in 1983. At its height in the year 2000, Sony shipped 47 million disks, but that number has progressively fallen, reaching just 8.5 million in 2009. However, that also begs the question, why were so many floppies shipped even in 2009 and who is still using them? Sony holds 70 percent of the Japanese market share for the disks, compared to around 40 percent globally. The company cited lack of demand as the main reasoning behind the decision, given the cheap prices of much smaller and higher capacity devices, like USB flash drives.

I finally connected my new keyboard today, after 12 days, and I really like it. It has a great touch and I can hardly wait for it to get dark so I can check out the blue lighting.

dzero did you say you used Google's Chrome browser?
I apparently downloaded it the other day without realising it and I've just been having a look one thing about it cracks me up. The 'Incognito Window', Google have built in a feature for browsing of a less than reputable nature the twisted genius of it cracks me up. I also love that they express;ly warn you when opening one of those pages of the dangers of browsing websites of ill-repute.

I have heard of that feature but I thought it had a different name maybe they changed it. FWIW I am back to using Firefox because I didn't like the latest update on Opera although now I can't even remember what the problem was.

I've been a loyal firefox user for 5+ years now. I do however keep Safari and now Chrome on my laptop so that if I'm browsing for something while working I can use a web browser not filled with lots of distracting book marks.
