Contagion was good but not great IMO, had a bit of a problem with the timeline in the film, I think panic would have set in a lot earlier than they seemed to indicate. Warrior was excellent. Takes some serious "suspension of disbelief" but the acting and pace of the film were excellent and I bought in all the way.

FINALLY saw the new True Grit on the weekend. Really good Did a bit of background reading on the John Wayne version and was surprised to read that the original Mattie was played by the mum in Better off Dead (one of my favourite movies). Fronch dressing. Fronch fries. Fronch bread. And to drink....Peru! ;D

Spent rainy freezing cold weekend inside watching movies
WALL-E UP Bush's Brain
quite the dichotomy between the humanism and optimism of the first two animated features and the soul crushing reality of the documentary

Hey remember when I used to review movies? yeah that was fun think I'll try it again. Saw The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo there were some memorable scenes and performances and enjoyed it over all but was a little disappointed in the story. Kind of surprised Fincher even made the film given how much better Se7en was...why bother? Basically the lead female character was pretty fascinating but the plot of the mystery was by the numbers

I'm the last person who should be starting the new movie thread, but #2 was ready to implode.
Thanks to On Demand we finally got around to watching District 9 -- Wow. I can't remember when I've been so hooked and drawn in by a movie -- has to be the best film I've seen in years (yes, I don't see lots, but still) -- this is so far beyond the usual drek... (I know there are some weaknesses and sentimentality that some of you harder core may have found unnecessary, but I'm still too awed to entertain any of that yet.) The only post I found here discussing it was last May, when dzero announced it as upcoming. Our usual movie crew not into it? Two tentacles up, man. Thanks to the Xmas holidays I finally saw District 9 too ;D I loved it. Excellent special effects and documentary style script/filming. Also on my catch up list was Black Swan. Another WOW Can't believe they made it for only 15M. Other films with 4 times as much budget and no story should be ashamed of themselves.

A few more to add to my 'seen it' list:
Hangover II - glad it was a free in-house movie (that MrAZ chose to watch BTW). A high grossing film that really was only content worthy as a direct to DVD.
Moneyball - only got to see 3/4 as I watched it on the plane. An interesting story so I'll have to take a trip to the DVD store to see the rest.
The Housekeeper - bizarro Korean film. Just weird! Enjoyable, but weird.
Voyage of the Dawn Treader - Kids choice. That franchise is now definately dead!

Saw Haywire and Girl with the Dragon Tattoo recently. Since I've neither read the book(s) nor seen the original Girl with the Dragon Tattoo I can't really say how it is as an adaptation. As always though David Fincher does an amazing job creating a tense, suspenseful enviroment, I'm constantly amazed by the way Fincher can make settings into supporting characters, really enhancing the tension of the story.
I have to admit Haywire was pretty awesome, its not a perfect film and it certainly won't win any Oscars but as a fun little spy thriller its awesome. Also as something of a hand-to-hand combat geek the fight scenes were awesome and Gina Carano is totally bad ass. Seriously, Carano is THE most convincing female action lead I've ever seen. Though like I said her acting won't win any Oscar's anytime soon.
