Mia - you can start a new thread for what ever you wish. Fan fic is a hot topic and creative genius will not be suppressed.

Did anyone else get that weird targeted to your email and pen-name email from a place called FanLib? Yup, but I admit I lost interest pretty quickly because it was still so new there were not only zero DA fics there, but no NCIS fics (and think how active a fandom that is now on FFN.) You have a point that we might need to scout a back up if FFN goes blewey, but it does seem to be having more in the nature of growing pains than dying on the vine. It doesn't necessarily mean that it won't suddenly be gone (gasp!) but it sure seems that there are plenty of people willing to keep it going. (You *do* have to worry about a site that doesn't allow you to pay when you're trying to do the right thing send them $$ to renew a paid acct... ) \

When trying to get to FFnet, has anybody else gotten a site claiming that it is in the process of getting a new server? Maybe I’m sleeping already? (I’m irritated by the fact that the announcement is in German) If so, is this something good or bad? This day just keeps getting worse and worse...

(I’m irritated by the fact that the announcement is in German) If so, is this something good or bad? This day just keeps getting worse and worse... The thing is: depending where you live, you should access a lot of servers before reaching the FFN's one. German's warning says to me it's probably your local internet connection. A NEW server is ALWAYS a good news (more speeds, more 'pipes' for much users at the same time, more spaces for all site's users, more 'roothers'). BUT... heay! is there a big BUT... changing the server take also so much time! ( giving you more time to work on yours stories (LOL!) just teasing, don't kick me! ;D!) "Patience in all things....!" (If I can say...)

>:(I HATE FF.NET The story of my suffering: I tried the Darwin-link Aerie had so thoughtfully provided in the AURLCO-thread and guess what: "the requested Url was not found on this server". "Ok", I thought, "but that doesn't make much sense. I'm sure Aerie checked it." And I tried the ff.net main page and went for the search, guess what: " the requested Url was not found on this server". I tried to login:" the requested Url was not found on this server". I wonder how life will be at LiveJournal...

I found Darwin's fics by searching for Dark Angel, then entering Title After the Fire. Down to the bottom and clicking on Darwin. www.fanfiction.net/u/38645/I always click on the URL after it's posted to be sure it works. ff.net is soooooooooooo #^$&(#& cottonpicking @$#&% ;D

I can't even search! For precious 5 minutes, it seemed to be fine again and now the ONLY existing page is the main one. Everything else (login, search, tv shows): "the requested url..."

Thanks, Brigitte! The thing is: depending where you live, you should access a lot of servers before reaching the FFN's one. German's warning says to me it's probably your local internet connection. Does this mean that FFnet works for everybody but us poor Germans? Would be mean, but at least better than a complete breakdown. The page I get says in German that a new Apache server has been installed. BUT... heay! is there a big BUT... changing the server take also so much time! Could you or anybody else maybe specify the amount of time somehow? ( giving you more time to work on yours stories (LOL!) just teasing, don't kick me! ;D!) Yeah, true, but the frustrating thing is that I wanted to post a new story. And noooo, I’d never kick you. ;D In general I only kick people in Karate, my brother (who’s always deserved it), and dead things when I’m angry ;D.

Hooray, it seems to work again!! I could even review the Friday Evening story by Sternenlicht and guess what... the girl's from my town (which means that I know her with a 85 % probability, we have about 200 000 inhabitants and if we consider how many are students...) My main focus right now is Logan Cale aka Rubber Ducky. A thought that directly leads to Logan and Max in the bath tub ... Thanks Shy, for the wonderful image! ;D ;D ;D Mari, so your AURLCO application fic is ready for posting? Go and try it, girl, ff.net seems to have a friendly moment. ;D

Could you or anybody else maybe specify the amount of time somehow? Sorry, I wasn't very specific, this usually could take around a day, if everything works well If not.... nobody knows. The page I get says in German that a new Apache server has been installed. Didn't you got any link at this page, no reference number to call somewhere? Maybe you should contact your internet's supplier. He should know about all this. The strange thing is : you can reach dafans from your side, and me to (from mine), so it can't be your supplier's own server... should be in between your supplier and FFN (I really don't know how many servers should be connect in this "between") And they don't seemed to use a backup's one! You could try to call somebody you know didn't have the same supplier and ask to try himself for FFN? You will quickly surround the problem (if it's your supplier or not) Yeah, true, but the frustrating thing is that I wanted to post a new story. Why, now, it's ME being frustrated..??!

Hooray, it seems to work again!! Not for me : I only get this Es klappt! Translation of the important parts: It works (Yeah, right, it works and I’m Daisy Duck ) The Apache Web-Server is installed on this website. Now the right content has to be added… If you see this site instead of another expected site, please contact the owner of that site. Also they give this link: www.fanfiction.net/manual/ , with several sublinks where again I get the message of 'not found'. Very helpful. I’m waiting for a friend to tell me whether FFnet works on her computer Didn't you got any link at this page, no reference number to call somewhere? Maybe you should contact your internet's supplier. He should know about all this. Not laughing at you but at the though of calling German Telekom and being helped by them. Muhahaha. Ah, sorry. Thanks again, Brigitte. The last time FFnet worked for me was sometime last night around three I think, so it’s not a whole day yet. (But it’s certainly past normal German working hours now, so probably not much hope for today)Everything else is working just fine. This is so frustrating, could you all keep me updated of what’s new on FFnet? Please? My shirtless Logan is almost ready (thanks, Shy!), wanted to finish him this evening but seemingly there’s no hurry now. But thanks for your comments anyway. (Imagine blushing smiley) The thought of squeaky rubber ducky Logan gave me a weird combination of laughter and a strong want to get squeazy Logan into my hands. ;D

Mari, just a thought:
Are you using Internet Explorer? Because when I tried to get to ff.net at uni, I had to use it and nothing worked and when I came back home to my beloved Mozilla Firefox everything was fine again.
Again: I have no idea about computers, just a thought (no pun intended) ;D
modified to say: I obviously have no idea about English comma rules, either

It works again, mostly. Yes!!! ;D I can access all the fiction sub-pages and login, stat etc, the one thing were I still get this weird message is 'home' where I wanted to check if maybe they had announced the server change. (Don’t think so, but should check before complaining ) Brigitte, your estimation was pretty exact. I propose you for the job of official FFnet oracle and will turn to you for further prophesies. ;D Thanks, Tigrou for the tip. I’m willing to blame Bill Gates for each and every evil concerning computer / internet, but I do use Firefox normally even though it’s a bit wonky in combination with Vista. English comma rules are weird. Poor Shy. I really should take the time to read this Grammar Slammer page.

It works again, mostly. Yes!!! ;D I'm so happy for you, knowing ( so well) how an addic (like me!) could be affected when FFN goes down! I’m willing to blame Bill Gates for each and every evil concerning computer / internet Should I just mention than without him, no FFN? (Don't touch Bill, he's my own meal-ticket I'll bite! ;D) NOW! can't we suppose you will UPDATE SOON?? I'll check each next 15 minutes....
