The old Fanfiction Trouble thread is a little full, so here's a new thread. I know that there have been fanfiction.net problems with reviews in the recent past but, this is the last official update from FF.net. September 14th, 2006 -- We have scheduled maintenance session from 9PM to 11PM Friday 9/15 US Pacific time. During this maintenance window, the site will be down while we perform hardware and software upgrades.

This is very weird, even for FFN: A littrle gremlin at FFN added a "favorite" to my account! I have never listed any, but suddenly in my faves list is an author I've never heard of, let alone read. What's even weirder is that, within a couple minutes-- literally-- of my setting up our group's new account, "Writer's Pulse," someone had us on their favorites list. Pretty weird, especially given that the FFN accounts officially take three days to become active! Anyone else seeing ghosts in the machine??

Pretty weird, especially given that the FFN accounts officially take three days to become active! Really weird because I couldn't even find the new account earlier (before you reminded me of the three-days-rule). A littrle gremlin at FFN added a "favorite" to my account! I have never listed any, but suddenly in my faves list is an author I've never heard of, let alone read. Are you sure you didn't sleep-operate your computer? ;D Seeing that apparantly strangers can access one's account, I guess you can be glad nobody posted a weird story under your name...

We have also made many important changes behind the scene to improve site performance and are on schedule to launch several new features for the holidays. And it would seem that it's been since then that we have gotten no e-mail alerts from FFN. The consensus among DA peeps is that no one is getting alerts for posting their stories, reviews, alerts from their author/etc lists, or forums -- in short, no e-mails for nuthin'. I finally sent off a Bug report this morning (like they haven't gotten a million already.) Anyone else a geek like me & send one? And is it my imagination, or has FFN stopped 'fessing up to these little illnesses? It used to be that when they had a stretch of problems like this, they would post an apology and an explanation once it was fixed. The last couple times they never mentioned it.

I suspect their ‘upgrade’ is not to send any email-alerts at all anymore… Has anyone gotten anything since? Maybe at least an answer to a ticket? Should they ever decide to give us all this missing stuff, they’ll bust my inbox – literally since I’m constantly close to web.de’s stupid 500 email-limit .

Has anyone gotten anything since? Maybe at least an answer to a ticket? Not a peep. Nary a whimper. (Well, I did get an immediate auto-reply saying they got the ticket, but it's been crickets chirping in my mailbox ever since... )

(Well, I did get an immediate auto-reply saying they got the ticket, but it's been crickets chirping in my mailbox ever since... ) Woah!A sudden e-mail review alert!! It's for an older story, and no date or time of the review, so no idea when it was posted. However, it's not on the FFN site--no review, and the number of reviews didn't change-- so I will assume it's "fresh." (Or a figment of my imagination...) ... does this mean the old ones will start funneling through? ~ ~ (I guess we should take it as good news...)

...and despite the trickle of old e-mails that finally we got through the week, FFN is still busted: e-mails not coming thru of items posted this evening... I guess Logan really knew what he was talking about when he said "FFN will still be broken in the morning..." (wait-- that was what he said... right? )

They've done it again: FFN seems to another log-jam with all e-mail alerts and other messages (forum notices, story alerts, even PMs). It's been nearly 24 hours since I got an e-mail via FFN, and there should have, by now, been about a half dozen more. AND: I'm getting an error message when trying to go to their support site to send a "ticket" about the thing being down. Is it only me, or are others of you getting the same error message? This is so frustrating! I'm disappointed, too, that over the past months FFN isn't posting a note as they used to explaining the problem, at least after it's fixed. It just makes me (and, I suspect, others) not want to post updates until I'm fairly sure the word will get out. It's too depressing to post and have limited response. I think some people see the links here, but it's hard to know... At any rate! If anyone can get through to their support screen you might post a prod about the alerts... and I guess all we can do is wait... again... ~ ~

AND: I'm getting an error message when trying to go to their support site to send a "ticket" about the thing being down. Is it only me, or are others of you getting the same error message? Yep, only get ‘eSupport is not installed, Please run setup/index.php to run eSupport’. Häh? Has anybody any idea if it would help if I understood the meaning of this? Just great, not even a place to complain anymore . It just makes me (and, I suspect, others) not want to post updates until I'm fairly sure the word will get out. ....which in course frustrates others ( me! ) because they have to wait longer for updates Oh, and Shy: Just send another (lengthy – what a big surprise ) review for ‘Asylum II’, which maybe will get to you or FFnet anytime in the next…. days or so…

Maybe some day I'll actually get to see it... (and at the risk of continuing off topic: this "II" was floating around in my thoughts but even more prodded by our discussion a couple days ago abouy Logan-Bling fic... ;D So I probably should have attributed some of the effort to you too! )

Umm so is it just COMPLETELY broken at this point? Because as of yesterday I could log in. As of two days ago I could file a complaint (yea finally gave in and did that, though it seemed to be missing stuff). Today as I try to post a chapter, this is what I get... FanFiction.Net ErrorAn exception error has occurred while processing your request.
If the problem persists, please alert site admin via support.fanfiction.net.
All errors are logged for administrative and security purposes.I'm sad. FFN is broken and I have this nagging feeling it's on it's way to the end.

FFN is broken and I have this nagging feeling it's on it's way to the end. My impression, too. Nooooooo And also Nooooooo for having to wait for one of your chapters because of FFnet’s malfunctioning . I suspect you didn’t get a notification that they received your ticket either? Or anything else from them since last Saturday?
