These movies are from our lifetime. Shywriter liking them does not compute. Did it again! ;D Actually watched a "recent" movie, our beloved Coen Brothers' No Country for Old Men. Wow.The Bros amaze me... and Tommy Lee Jones was just so damn good in this. I was glad to see Stephen Root got another role in a CB movie, even if small -- he has such a great range of quirky characters in his repertoire!

Jimmy James And agreed, No Country For Old Men was excellent. I am planning on reading the book but I have to catch up on my Logan + Dinozzo fan fiction first. That's right, shywriter comes first. Cormac McCarthy is just going to have to wait his turn.

I'm a little bit embarrassed to admit I left about 1/2 way through Hellboy. I went to the lobby and played video games until my friends finished watching the movie. It was confusing and the big guy is ugly.
WARNING
Slight negativity ahead
Now do you want to know what my friends thought of the new Batman movie. OMG, I've forgotten the name of it.
Three guys who saw an advanced showing said:
1. Heath Ledger was just another good character in a Batman movie. If he hadn't died - an Oscar wouldn't be mentioned. He was good but not great.
2. The female, Maggie somebody, wasn't pretty enough to be in the movie. Batman is like James Bond - needs a beautiful, sexy female to be complete. Katie Holmes just barely qualified. After Kim Basinger, Nicole Kidman, Uma Thurman, and Michelle Pfeiffer, Maggie doesn't cut it.
Otherwise they loved the movie.
All 3 are qualified to vote in the best acting categories and will probably not vote for Ledger.

Hellboy was a very good movie, not really to my tastes but you had to respect the brilliance of Del Toro's imagination.

She thought the first one was only ok and didn't like Bale as Batman. Obviously she is completely wrong on both counts. Wouldn't it be best supporting actor? I thought this was odd casting . I am one of the few who liked Katie Holmes in Batman Begins if they wanted a different actress this time I'm surprised they didn't create a new character . oh and mmmmmmmmmmmmm Michelle Pfeiffer

Yeah! You tell her! While I haven't seen the new BM yet, I thought the point of the Rachel Dawes character was that she had a brain - and wasn't meant to be just another (model turned actress) pretty face. If that was the plan, then the casting of Maggie Gyllenhaal makes sense. Shouldn't we be blaming Suri or Tom for the recasting?

Did you see the first one Aerie? Yes and it was okay. I used to see at least five movies a week so many weren't memorable. I get a lot of passes (freebies) and when I was in town I'd eat lunch and watch a movie. My taste changed a couple of years ago. I was wasting my time on movies that were meaningless to me. I was watching them just so I could talk about them with my friends. Wrong. I liked the movie, especially Michael Caine and I still have the hots for the Batmobile. And Bale is a good actor in everything he does but I think he is lacking in that special charisma. It's a chemistry thing. I thought Katie Holmes looked good and did a good job. It's too bad she wouldn't come back. I've never seen that Maggie person so maybe with make up she'll look good. She looks kind of homely in photos. When I said, "All 3 are qualified to vote in the best acting category, I mean best acting to cover ALL acting categories. Mr.ClarkThank you. That's the nicest thing you could have written. Hmmm, Guillermo del Toro! I actually liked Mimic, a little cheesy Sci Fi-ish movie. Terminator: Salvation Trailer is outThanks to Mr.Clark for the link.

You backpedal good but I ain't buying it. She was the older sister in Donnie DarkoWalked out of that after 10 or 15 minutes.

Finally saw Once about a year after the rest of the world saw it. Loved it. The music, the characters, the setting.......everything. Reminded me story-wise of Before Sunrise, the two characters getting to know each other, falling for each other but not taking that chance.
