The other movies thread has gotten a little full, so, I opened a new thread. Continue discussing new movies you've seen.
I think that while we had a summer of sequels that the third "Bourne" movie was the only movie out of all of these sequels that lived up to all of the hype.

I'm going to repost this from the last thread. If that's ok. I've seen both The Bourne Ultimatum and Stardust. both were good, very entertaining and smart. Bourne is a good conclusion to the trilogy. I've liked all three films. For me in terms of quality I would rank them in the order they were made. The action in the new one is very good but the characters felt a little stale to me . Stardust was good, I really didn't know what to expect with this film but had read some good reviews. I was not disappointed. The best way I could describe it is like The Princess Bride with less humor and more action/adventure. The one thing that bothered me was some of the casting , I love both Robert De Niro and Claire Danes but WooooooW talk about miscast . If it had been Bob Hoskins and Kiera Knightly in those roles we would have all been much better off . Also saw a couple of interesting trailers before Stardust. For awhile I've been seeing the trailer for Across the Universe imdb.com/title/tt0445922/ and I keep thinking to myself geeze they remade Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band . But I must be getting grumpier because after seeing the trailer this last time I believe that everyone involved with making the film should be sent to prison and never be allowed to make another film . Even worse is the trailer for August Rush imdb.com/title/tt0426931/ Prison is too good for these people . We need to send them to a country where they still burn people at the stake . I truly have never hated a trailer so much after seeing it just one time .

Did you ever want to see Joshua ( dogface boy ) die a horrible violent death while an audience cheers/laughs ? Well then get yourselves the next showing of 3:10 to Yuma. The rest of the movie is pretty good too. I do love me a good western. Plus Christian Bale and Russel Crowe are two of the best actors around IMO and they are certainly good in this . The ending has a bunch of problems though . There is a lot of action going on and it's satisfying but logically you have to wonder if the characters would have done what they did . But it doesn't ruin the movie or anything.

I saw the 3:10 to Yuma thing this week and for me it was 3 days and 10 minutes long. I do love me a good western but this wasn't it. One of my friends told me, "You just didn't get it!" He was correct. If they are going to have a child birth in a movie I prefer it to be in an elevator, stuck between floors, so I can hoot out loud. As it is I laughed and realized I was the only one in the theater laughing. I was I had known it was the dogboy being killed so I could have cheered. I couldn't warm up to the characters. I cannot watch Christian Bale being beat to a pulp in another movie. His Batman was my favorite Batman movie - yet he has no charisma for me. Actors like that should stay away from Michael Caine. Someone told me the Director in 3:10 also directed "Walk the Line." Another very popular, award winning movie that went completely over my head. Even my beloved Joaquin Phoenix bored me. The story isn't as important to me as the characters. I gotta feel the love for the characters or I cannot love the movie. Since I didn't like this movie much I suppose it will be numbero uno for the week and be nominated for awards. Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I am such a dunce. We all went to my house and watched "L.A. Confidential" so I could remember how much I loved Russel Crowe in that film. Now that's my idea of a tough guy.

I'd like to know which westerns you supposedly love because this sounds suspicious to me . Are we talking the same movie??? There was no child birth scene You didn't recognize him? He did a half snarl/half laugh thing just like he used to do on DA. I will say he looks much younger than I expected. That is a good one. Maybe my favorite movie of all time .

"Maverick" fun film with Mel Gibson, Jody Foster & James Garner "The Searchers" My 1st John Wayne movie, recommended by dzero "Blazing Saddles" Such a fun movie I had to toss in it here. "Cat Ballou" Sooo cheesy but Lee Marvin is worth it. When he is drunk, comes into the funeral for Cat's father, sees all the candles and sings Happy Birthday - you die laughing. Yes, it's got that kinda humor. "Space Cowboys" Whoops. "Shane" A very special film. "Broken Trail" Robert Duvall can do no wrong "River of No Return" I loved the river. "The Magnificent Seven" The best feel good western "Dances With Wolves" I have a thing for wolves "Jeremiah Johnson" I have a thing for Robert Redford "High Noon" A simple little film about people that talk big and do nothing and the female is the real hero. (Better than 3:10 to Yuma in my opinion)"Last of the Mohicans"(1992 with Daniel Day Lewis.) Yes, I consider this a western and Daniel Day Lewis, as Hawkeye/Nathaniel, is so damn sexy. *** And the very best - "Lonesome Dove" This is my favorite film of all time. Sure it's a 6 hour mini-series but it's a genius of a film from beginning to the end. It knocked my socks off. ;D I can't think of anymore without giving it some thought and I'm not thinking today. Too busy.Sorry. It had every other cheesy thing. What excuse can I use except I've only seen S-2 of Dark Angel once, except for Harbor Lights, which I've watched dozens of times. The dogboy wasn't in that one. It's in my top ten. Lots more coming someday.

Wow, that looks very familiar, only the lead character is male. Even has the bar code on the back of his head.

;D ;D P & P is my second favorite. I envy you peeps that have never watched Lonesome Dove. You have the greatest pleasure in front of you. I remember when I made the mistake of starting to read the book at night. I could not put it down. 843 pages. I read all night until I finished. The next day was hell with no sleep.I watch the mini-series once a year and it's just as good each time. Maybe better.
