Okay, so I know there's an old NCIS fanfiction thread in our dusty older pages, but seeing how it's full of broken links and departed (or imaginary :  members I couldn't help myself -- so am starting a shiny new thread. and I'm sure if I'm outa line here, Aerie will smite me appropriately. ;D
PLEASE drop off your fic recommendations here! I'm craving some good NCIS fic -- I'd love to read some that are short on pairings and long on plot & character -- in other words, more like the show, rather than the seeming majority of stuff on FFN (full of TIVA, TIBBS, McABBY, TATE, <McGIBBS??> and whatever other hook-ups are conceivable). Since NCIS is still in production, it seems overwhelming to sort through it all, there's so much posted as compared to our beloved DA. Anyone see any NCIS fic lately (or authors generally) that provide a story that gives you the feeling you're watching another good, solid NCIS episode? Also, if you have seen other NCIS fic you like, please do post it, too -- I'm sure others around here would like knowing about good pairing fic, too.  Please help feed my recently spiked up obsession with NCIS! ;D All suggestions appreciated...  |

Fic discussion, yay.  I'm craving some good NCIS fic -- I'd love to read some that are short on pairings and long on plot & character -- So general and fic related question (which I've brought up before, sorry  , but would be interested in more opinions): Is it just me who doesn’t care that much about the plot, the single crimes in NCIS (maybe because with the TV situations I watch the episodes out of order and already know the major developments from here) but enjoys much more what the situation makes the character do, how they react under certain circumstances?  In short just seeing the team together… And does anybody remember that really good story about how Tony came to NCIS? (Yeah, I know, horribly vague description ) I like Shywriter DA/NCIS crossovers they are great. Me too, me too.  |

*Hands up excitedly* Rictus by Sequitur? I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THAT !!! So very well written - and chockful of Tony =) And since we're recommending fics - not sure if this fits in with what you were looking for, Shy ( or whether you already know about them), but stories by DrawMeASheep are sooo beautifully written. She/He writes serials - and they definitely have long, intricate plots and focus on character you were looking for. AND - written so very well. Only thing is that its Tiva, but it doens't take away from the actual meat of the story =) And you can try Tempest by Soulbound (good story, long plot - but unfinished as yet - and with a teensy bit of Tiva) Again - you may have already known about these - but at the moment I must admit I have a little fangirl crush on these two writers |

And thanks for the other recs -- I don't think I've read any of them; it's been a while since I tried looking, and back when I was reading before never got all too far. And the non-intrusive versions of TIVA, etc, are okay too -- I just kept finding those that made the 'ship the main focus... But this is great-- I'll check these out-- thanks! (now I *really* will get in that shower... ) |

She (he?) had this cool description of a grin ‘splitting’ Tony’s face or something like that, right? (Oddly selective Swiss cheese brain, remember the plot, the original characters, irrelevant little details, but never the important stuff like title and author and names ). And then there was one I liked, a series I think, where Tony had an elder neighbor with a German name (I think), an older one still with Kate... I’m willing to like her stories just because of her screen name. Adding more to Minimum Contacts recently so hoping to get more posted, one of these days... Only one thing to say:  |

Michele & Griever, thanks for your recommendations! So much nicer to go straight to the good stuff, when there are so many posted. And great to see so many people popping up on this thread -- more fic recs to come as people find more, I hope! While investigating a murder at a remote country property, Tony, McGee and Palmer are cut off from the others by a hurricane. NCIS and a hurricane? I am so there! (naturally I will miss the whole point of the story, yelling at them to go buy plywood and water and to fill the bathtub!! ;D) |
