I don't know where Michael Bay finds these chicks. Australian tv soap Fantastic article. I wasn't quite sure how to express my feelings about the film when I saw it on the weekend - I was left kind of speechless. My fave films/tv are usually sci fi/action so I'm used to suspending my disbelief, but I think I hit the wall with Transformers 2. Seems like Michael Bay recently graduated from the George Lucas school for WTF plot lines and inventing annoying sidekick characters. Thank goodness for John Turturro

Its funny despite all that stuff in the article and all my qualms about it I can't quite bring myself to condemn TF2. I knew going in it wasn't going to be an Oscar selection. I went in there wanting to see lots and lots of robot carnage and destruction, its all about the spectacle and Bay gets that.
Despite his flaws I will always defend Michael Bay for two very good reasons 1. I've never walked out of a Michael Bay film filling like I got anything less than my moneys worth and 2. He get its, he knows what people think of him and exactly what his movies are. He's all about the moment, he just wants every frame of film to be as impressive as possible from a visual standpoint. He just wants to make sh*t look cool and he's yet to really fail in that.
Even if I take TF2 with a huge grain of salt and judge it as compared to my rather well calibrated expectations. The things that really got to me were the excess of comic relief characters and the fact that the cool characters got screwed out of a lot more screen time because of it. Thats the only thing that really chaffs me about the film, I can live with 90% of the massive plot holes and lack of story.

Public Enemies = loved it, loved it, loved it It was probably too long and took itself very seriously but I loved every second of it. The shootouts, the historical details, the sexy french girl .... it's like the big shots in Hollywood decided to make to make a movie just for me . Got to say this is shaping up to be a pretty good summer, I've only been to a few movies but I'm really enjoying them. Only the Terminator disappointed. Up next I am looking forward to the new Harry Potter and The Hurt Locker.

Alien Prequel Confirmed As Ridley Scott’s Return To Sci-Fi
It turns out Purefold isn’t the only sci-fi project coming down the pipe for famed director/producer Ridley Scott. Late last night, Variety confirmed that the original Alien helmer will direct the upcoming Alien prequel.
This surprise announcement comes just months after the rumored conflict between 20th Century Fox and Scott’s production company, Scott Free, over who would direct. Scott had been heavily campaigning for that right to go RSA director Carl Rinsch, but Fox staunchly supported the prequel only if Scott himself was behind the camera. As unlikely as that seemed as recently as yesterday, the revelation of Scott returning to the franchise that launched his mainstream career is earthshaking (as far as film is concerned).
The as-yet-untitled Alien prequel film will mark Ridley Scott’s long-awaited return to the realm of science fiction. He burst onto the scene in 1979 with the franchise’s initial horror installment, Alien. Over the next six years, he released the seminal sci-fi and fantasy films Blade Runner and Legend, respectively. Since then, his prolific career hasn’t returned to the genre.

Ugh that sucks. I really could care less for the Alien films, I wish he'd get back to making more of what he's made the past few years. Kingdom of Heaven was a brilliant film that most people don't fully appreciate and Body of Lies had some very good ideas but wasn't quite perfect.

I gotta say it looks pretty amazing. It does look amazing. I read some online comments on a movie site before watching the trailer and many people seem disappointed then I watched and loved it. Got to wonder if expectations are so high for a new Cameron movie that some people won't be satisfied no matter how good it is. I wish I had gotten tickets to that free preview thingy they are having at movie theaters tomorrow.
