Thanks Michele for everything you do. This news about Heartland was allegedly released today by Harriet, the audience liaison for NCIS.
May 22, 2008 - Filming is wrapping this week and the cast and crew will begin their hiatus, with an expected return July 2nd. Production will begin prepping the week previous, June 23rd.
We filmed "Heartland" this past week and it will air in the Fall.
It is not our Season Six opener. The reason for filming this episode, as well as our early return, is due, in part, to the increased order of episodes from CBS, which you already know about.
The air date for "Heartland," and the air date for our Season Six premiere episode will be released by CBS.

Permission to post this over at Special Ops. This might help to quell some of the confusion that is reigning over there!

From the new TV Guide
It was a multiple stunner: Director Shepard (Lauren Holly) was killed(!), Tony (Michael Weatherly), and McGee (Sean Murray) were transferred and Israeli agent Ziva (Cote de Pablo) got axed by new chief Vance (Rocky Carroll). Not to worry, says NCIS exec producer Shane Brennan, who vows he won't pull a House and relegate favorite characters to walk-on status: "It was time for a change and to being in new director for Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and his team." but, Brennan promises, " We're not leaving Tony, Ziva and McGee." Whew
thanks scarecrow427 over at Friends of NCIS

Question: You would have to take a week off when NCIS drops three big bombs on all of us. What gives?- Tygerbam Ausiello: what gives is....I'm about to more then make it up to you with the following exclusive mini-Q&A with exec producer Shane Brennan featuring your burning questions about the season finale! Woo-hoo.
* Are they really writing out McGee, DiNozzo and Ziva a la house, or will they all be back next season?! Patrick
Brennan: No fan of NCIS will be disappointed when the show returns in September. I promise, we're not doing a House! But strap into your seats, it's going to be a heart stopping ride....
*Please, Please, please tell me that they're not really breaking up the team on NCIS! Lu Ann
Brennan: Deep Breaths. Everything is going to be fine. This is Gibbs' team, right?
*Will the show be introducing any new team members next season? Chris
Brennan: Yes. and No.

this was posted on another website some days ago when the boards were out.
CBS repeats an NCIS episode from Decmeber 2006 Tuesday at 8pm. I've also tracked down this cryptic quote from executive producer Shane Brennan about next season. He wrote, "The season opener will resolve why Director Leon Vance split up Gibbs' team. The opening episode will be very revealing...." Okey so I'm just as confused as ever but at least we know we'll have some answers as soon as the new season begins.
Season 6 Premiere is Tuesday September 23, 2008

Also after watching the fan made videos of NCIS on youtube I'm trying into a Tiva fan. Welcome to club. If you start getting into Tiva fan fics you definitely need to check out Sheep's (from Specialops) series, by far the best Tiva fics out there and probably some of the best written stories I've seen on FF.net period.

Looks as if Cousin Tony's new boss* is here to stay: from the NCIS site at TVBuddy.com: NCIS: Rocky Carroll Fills Lauren Holly's ShoesThe fifth season of NCIS left viewers with a Major Case Response Team (MCRT) lacking of one special agent. NCIS director Jenny Shepard, portrayed by Lauren Holly, was fatally wounded in a shootout in connection with the case in France where she met Gibbs and eventually died in the season 5 finale. As NCIS heads into the sixth season, Gibbs (Mark Harmon), DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), McGee (Sean Murray) and the rest of the special agents will have a new authority figure to look up to as producers of the police procedural series have already named Jenny Shepard's replacement. According to Variety, Rocky Carroll has been enlisted as a series regular to fill the void on the veteran crime drama. This 44-year-old actor is no stranger to the series. In fact, he plays a recurring character named Leon Vance, who was introduced as Assistant Director in the fifth season of the show. As the new director, Vance announced that Gibbs would be getting a new team, while the former team will be disbanded and reassigned at the end of season 5. He was also seen destroying a page out of his personnel file just before doing that. This casting news continues the NCIS connection to the drama Chicago Hope, seeing that Carroll, who played Dr. Keith Wilkes on Chicago Hope, already replaced Holly on the same series. It also reunites Carroll with yet another Hope alum, NCIS star Mark Harmon. Aside from the aforementioned series, Carroll has appeared on shows like The Agency, Boston Legal, The West Wing, and Family Law. On the big screen, he has landed roles in Born on the Fourth of July, The Ladies Man, Crimson Tide and A Prelude to a Kiss. This year, he'll be starring in the comedy film Yes Man, along with Zooey Deschanel, Jim Carrey and Sasha Alexander. -Kris De Leon, BuddyTV Staff Columnist Source: Variety *********** (*ah, but will he stay as boss or be busted for whatever he shredded from his file?)-- I'm glad he's staying; Leon was already way more interesting in the first couple eps we saw him than Jenny ever was -- and the scene where he gave Tim the computer search ideas and toothpick was still one of my faves in the 2 hour finale. Another example of the replacement being a much better written, interesting character than the one killed off?

Another example of the replacement being a much better written, interesting character than the one killed off? I liked Vance as well, right up until it all went pear shaped. If Judgment Day had ended 5 minutes earlier I'd be all for him having a recurring role. If everything goes back to the status quo I'll be happy to have him around.
