I liked Vance as well, right up until it all went pear shaped. If Judgment Day had ended 5 minutes earlier I'd be all for him having a recurring role. If everything goes back to the status quo I'll be happy to have him around. I'm so glad you said this, 'cos it's a perfect excuse for me to vent my amusement (and possibly unique reaction) at the fallout! ;D I think I'm the only one on the planet who thought the ending/cliffie was kinda cool (except, maybe... dzero, didn't you say something to that effect, too, mah brotha? ;D ) I'm not on Special Ops that much but I didn't see anyone else enthusiastic about it... Honestly, I immediately turned to hubby & grinned, saying I couldn't wait to see what they did with *this* plot twist. Of course, in the days after this ep, there were all sorts of wailing on Special Ops, all the fans ultra-worried about what would happen, all sounding as if these were real people, with real jobs, and not the main characters of TV show increasing yearly in its popularity! On the contrary, I'm convinced they'll all be back together and the only uncertainty is how many eps it will take them to get back together. I'm really hoping they have some fun with it -- some scenes with Tony on float, dealing with stupid little petty issues & hating it, McGee torn cos he misses the team & the field but kinda getting into being on NCIS' Geek Squad... and holy cow, Gibbs with three hapless losers he has to try to make field agents... The hardest issue will be Ziva -- does the Director relent and restore her position, or is there some other way as a non-citizen she could be hired for NCIS? (or is citizenship an issue at all?) So I'm keepin' the faith that the team will be back -- but not all that soon! I want them to work to get back as Gibbs' team... ;D

I don't like the way it ended because (while I wont accuse them of stealing the idea) something similar happened on House and things didn't return to the status quo so what was once my favorite show ever has now drifted down to mediocre in my book. I don't see this stunt as productive in the long run. House completely lost the plot so if another show does something similar i start to push the panic button a little. The Don Brennan has come out saying there not 'pulling a House' but I am and always have been a skeptic so I'll believe it when there all back safe and sound.
Ziva is the big worry, a position like hers cant be turned on and off like a light switch. To answer your question I don't think its likely. The Gov't isn't big on giving security clearances to foreign nationals and if she were applying for a job at NCIS like any other stiff she'd need to be able to get one, but this is The Matrix TV, not reality (as i often have to remind myself) so who knows.
I'm also getting, ever so slightly, sick of all the intrigue. Its fine in small doses but lately i just want my quirky crime show back.

I don't like the way it ended because (while I wont accuse them of stealing the idea) something similar happened on House and things didn't return to the status quo so what was once my favorite show ever has now drifted down to mediocre in my book. I don't see this stunt as productive in the long run. I was surprised how many people were essentially making that leap: because they brought in a new team on House, they'll do it on NCIS; because the plot device of doing it on House didn't work, the threat of it -- or even following through with it -- on NCIS won't work either. You know, if they wanted to, they really COULD manage to keep them apart as a team, at least for a good chunk of time, and still have the characters on and active -- and before you batter me, NO, it's not easy, YES it's awkward & would take good writing ... but I'm a rank amateur & can think of all sorts of fun things. After all, all of them but Ziva are still NCIS.... doable. But bottom line: NO: I don't think it's gonna be implimented for long -- maybe not at all. It's.A.Cliffie.Maybe more so, I was surprised how many people even entertained the idea that they will remain split up, and the characters gone -- with all the leaks & teasers, don't you think we'd have known if three major characters would be gone next year? This was on the heels of several interviews with Harmon & the others pressing the fact that they work well together, that every year, their ratings go up... no matter how stupid TPTB are, their bottom line is $$$ and therefor viewership. How crazy would it have been for them, with things going increasingly well, to throw everything out? (and if you say that's what happened on House, I will remind you that it's TV, so you can't always count on sanity, but mostly will insist that there has NOT been an edict that we've seen yet announcing "As goes House, so goes NCIS." ) Of course I may be wrong (and feel free to line up next fall to say 'I told you so' if I am) and naturally, this being TV, I can't count on them on always being astute business people, but remembering that this is a SHOW and not real people (well, okay, Tony is real, but not the others I know -- I have a clone! ;D) -- this is a cliffhanger which will be made all good come the fall sometime. The major question for me is whether they do it with some style, humor, and believability (which would be so great!) or if they take some lame "it was all a dream" approach. At least I hope it's closer to the former than the latter. So I am overjoyed with the potential they've set up for "long road back" stories for S6! And I am just begging them, the Blue Lady, & everyone else who has a say to please, please, please, please, please, please, please do some great stuff with it!! ;D I'm with you there in spirit, but tired less of the intrigue than the writers' attempts to start something then dropping it and never picking up the thread, losing their way, suddenly having the characters be so OOC for what has been going on... they have to find that fine line of having a crime show where the characters add to the show & make us care about them, and muddling all the character-angst-drama so much they forget to work their cases! Maybe they need to hire some new writers! (and where do we sign up? ;D

I won't batter you for your opinion because I don't necessarily think your wrong, in fact I hope your right. Personally I'd much rather a quick resolution than a 'long road back', I'm not big on will they or wont they (unless its a shippy thing) and I'm to young for the gray hairs.

I refuse to comment on Special ops for fear of Agreed I like these ideas for the other agents , but Gibbs being cranky with a new team . We already get plenty of that IMO and I can't say it's my favorite part of the show.

I refuse to comment on Special ops for fear of Stand behind me; I'll protect you! My big mouth is obnoxious enough to protect us both, with me running people off! ;DExcellent point, it would be more of the same... and if they hadn't already had the ep with "Stan" being fondly remembered by everyone as this genius/talented/hunky/Gibbs' pet kinda guy, making Tony jealous for the whole ep, they could actually give him a team with hot skills, and let the others stew about Gibbs ever wanting them back. Could be too silly, but it's a possibility. Anything else I can think of is just way too goofy (like Gibbs suddenly being the warm & fuzzy Gibbs, gently guiding the newbies along the newness of being agents... Yep, definitely an amateur here. Certainly the professionals will come up with something we can cheer about!!??

Tony was always easy to get back, the won i was worried about most was Ziva and they also provided a big sigh of relief with the "Talbot flirts with Ziva when she brings him a faux petition to sign..." tidbit.
RE-dzero: They wouldn't fly Tony all the way back to Washington from a carrier to interview a pentagon Admiral.
Michelle you need to post this at specialops, stop making me do it I hate feeling like I'm stealing your scoops.

Maybe you have heard of this marvelous new invention called the telephone? Oh, you think you're so smart... Even if he's still at the dock that's WAY too far to stretch a string! (ship comms guys called their receivers "cans," back in the day, you know or at least they did in the movies... ... it wasn't just a euphemism!) they also provided a big sigh of relief with the "Talbot flirts with Ziva when she brings him a faux petition to sign..." tidbit. I think that's when Talbot flies off to Israel... or when she brings it to the phone to read it to him...

RE-dzero: They wouldn't fly Tony all the way back to Washington from a carrier to interview a pentagon Admiral. Oh-- and too, I suspect Leon would prefer Jethro use one of his new people to to work the local cases rather than send copters or whatever to go pick up Tony, no matter how good an investigator he is... Serious question: this would be number what ep for season 6? May give us an idea how quickly they make things right again... anyone vote for the opening sequence of the first ep picking up from the last moments of the S5 finale, then Leon saying, "Ha! You've been punked!! "
