I might be the only person who is posting on this board who doesn't consider that the original concept of the Dark Angel to be a sci-fi theme. If you stop and really consider what themes that the series dealt with in the first season, it dealt with government abuse, illegal diversion of government funds, scientific experimentation on humans, corrupt government officials and covert operations by secret government agencies, as well as secret breeding cults whose members have infiltrated the government and are in fact cold blooded killers. These themes clearly have occured in the past and will happen again in the future whether it 2029 or 2002. That clearly tries in with the statement ie "the Sociologically diverse show" that was posted in the HR advertisement , as such that is what gave the series the popularity that it enjoyed in the 1st season and the ratings and market share it earned. anyone else thinking conspiracy.....

Hmm, I agree bigger would be better. But anything would do. I guess we only really need to get JC and FOX's attention. Oh, not sure what this'll do, but I started a petition. it's at www.petitiononline.com and the key is danocan. I figure if that gets enough signatures, we can send it to Jim Cameron. A cable hack would do well. And I agree completely about having Michael Weatherly do it. Well, those are my contributions, and i hope they do something. -Penny

There is actually a petition, I think it's at <www.savethatshow.com>, there is at least three petitions that I know of for DA, that has over 70,000 signatures. I guess if we eventually bundled up all of the petitions and sent them off together to JC it would show how many of us there are and that we all go to different sites.

I'm sure the ad made a difference. Question: to whom, in what way!
Maybe not to Fox so that it would try to revive DA, but to the people involved with the work of DA, I'm sure it was a boost to their hearts and minds. Can you imagine how depressed most, if not all, of them felt when they had been signed to contracts and believed a 3rd season was a "go" only to learn at the 11th hour that DA was cancelled. Must have been a heartbreaker to them - as well as to us.

I haven't been around for a couple of weeks, but i'm glad to see that the campaign's still alive and kicking. I'm really glad that everybody pitched in to get the ad, and i would have made a donation and bought something from the store if i had the money... I'm getting a job real quick, so maybe i will still be able to. Anyways, keep up the good work!

Message for Fire Angel concerning the definition of science fiction, I would suggest that you consult your dictionary. The definition of Science Fiction is as follows, fanciful fiction based on postulated scientific discovieries, environmental changes , frequently dealing with space travel, life on other planets , etc. That certainly does not describe the series the Dark Angel, granted there is an scientific element to the original concept of the series but test tube babies have been around for the last 20 years and to the best of my knowledge the Dark Angel does not involve space travel, and just because Max and her brothers and sisters were genetically enhanced in the lab does not constitute science fiction. Have you not heard about DNA mapping and stem cell research into the genetics of disease and life itself. Is that science fiction or just scientific research which is happening right now.

"fanciful fiction based on postulated scientific discovieries"
I'm sorry but that about sums up DA in a nutshell for me.
Many people would argue that Star Wars is not sci-fi but space opera instead, with more in common with Lord of the Rings than 2001.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that is an outdated definition of sci-fi, space is definately NOT a prerequisite of sci-fi and on the flip side just because something is set in space doesn't automatically make it sci-fi either.

Many people consider any show set in the future as Sci-fi, cuz we cant say whats gonna happen in the future. I think Sci-fi's meaning changed over the past few years, as it probably would have been at the start anything unreal. But oh well.

It feels like we're just sitting around waiting for a response when we should be organising a follow up. There's no guarantee that we'll hear anything from fox. Even though they know they did the wrong thing, they won't admit it easily. We should be doing something so that our message isn't forgotten.
