I got my copy in the mail today, having sent away for it last week. Yay!
It doesn't say "Emmy edition" or anything like that on the cover, but it's dated September 20-22, and it is definitely Emmy-centered. The ad takes up all of page 23 and it looks great. ;D
Anyway, this should answer the question of how long it takes to receive a copy in the mail. I mailed my request (from here in Michigan) on the 17th, which of course was last Tuesday. The issue came out on the 20th and I have it in my hot little hands on the 25th. Not bad, I'd say.

I might be the only person who is posting on this board who doesn't consider that the original concept of the Dark Angel to be a sci-fi theme. If you stop and really consider what themes that the series dealt with in the first season, it dealt with government abuse, illegal diversion of government funds, scientific experimentation on humans, corrupt government officials and covert operations by secret government agencies, as well as secret breeding cults whose members have infiltrated the government and are in fact cold blooded killers. These themes clearly have occured in the past and will happen again in the future whether it 2029 or 2002. That clearly tries in with the statement ie "the Sociologically diverse show" that was posted in the HR advertisement , as such that is what gave the series the popularity that it enjoyed in the 1st season and the ratings and market share it earned. It is my opinion that we have to start a snail mail campaign directed to James Cameron playing up the originality and uniqueness of the concept that JC and Charles Eglee developed . Basically what we have to do is stroke is ego and convince him of the merits of the series and what it has meant to the devoted and loyal fans of the series. We also have to convince him that the story of Max and the Dark Angel was far from complete and the Dark Angel's novels won't do it, we want the visual completion of the story. We also have to convince him that the so-called conclusion of the series with the Freak Nation would be like going to see the movie Titanic and only seeing the first 1 1/2 hours of it and then they announce that they did't receive the last reel of the movie, so there will be no conclusion of the movie, so tough luck. It wasn't until Vermin got involved that Cameron played up the freaks and weirdos that dominated the second season and the switch to Friday night that killed the series, so what we have to do with Cameron is convince him of the merits of the series and that the problems were clearly the responsibility of Vermin and the other idiots at Fox and not him and if he would rekindle his interest in the series, he can again achieve his "King of the World" title but this time in television.

I just want to say, although I dont really know where to put this, but I consider DA not killed, just in a coma. It is standing still, but it can still be saved. Hopefully it will. And who caused DA to go into a "coma", u all know that one!! I say lets seek revenge and try to save DA (what we r already doin). Notice my words : "REVENGE". I think the protest is still a good idea, and the big banner near Fox. I think the coolest idea was the cable hack, but that is a bit more difficult than the rest. Lets kick some serious Fox but!!! I hate the word "Killed" if it comes to our show!

Am much as I like the idea of a commercial for saving DA, it is completely unrealistic. We need to focus on things we might accomplish. I think that our only real hope lies with James Cameron. He if he wants he is the person that can make it happen. Jessica Alba is already moving on, she has at least 2 movies in the works. One of which is eerieily like Dark Angel. Her availibility for the project lessens every day. I still have hope but.....

If Fox do change their minds it is going to be practically impossible to bring the series back as it originally was. I'm not saying that we should stop fighting for the show to return, just that all who were involved have begun to move on. Fox treated them really badly and I personally wouldn't want to rejoin a network where I wasn't sure what was going to happen next. I think it's great that JA and some of the others have new stuff. It's not their faults that Fox are idiots.

queenoz :WORD
The Dark Angel fanbase will be like a gaping wound in FOX's side, slowly growing as the series is replayed around the planet. Dark Angel will firmly fix itself in the cult catergory. DVD's will become collectors items. I also think if the computer game is any good it could help our cause( Tomb Raider anyone?). I'm talking about a fairly large timescale here coupla years maybe and I'm hedging my bets on a movie.
Things that could kill my dream:
*JA becoming a "BIG STAR" (could work the other way to)
*That book called "Skin Game"
*My appreciation of the size of the fanbase is warped: I don't think so, from trawling around the net I'd say the only fans more prolific than us are Trek and Buffy fans and if I remember correctly DA outrated thos shows on a regular basis.
Wo, random speel of crap , sorry

I'm in Australia and have no idea whether half the merhandise that is being released over there will make it here. So I know at lease a few of us will be trying to get our hands on stuff online and through other contacts.
