I saw "Garden State" awhile back and I liked it and I thought of it as more of a comedy/drama rather than one or the other.

I liked "Garden State" because Natalie Portman was given a chance to show some range in emotions and depth and there really aren't a lot of movies these days where young actresses get that opportunity.

Also got Ladder 49 on DVD yesterday. I enjoy this movie when it was on at the cinemas but because the DVD had extras like the making of the movie, I found I had a new respect for fire fighters. Apparently before shooting the movie Joquin (I know I probably spelt that wrong) was so afraid of heights that he couldn't slide down the fire pole. All of the actors did two weeks of fire fighter training.

I just received Season 3 of " La Femme Nikita" and can't decide if I should go back and rewatch S-1 and 2 or just dig right in to S-3. " La Femme Nikita" is the only TV that is even close to " Dark Angel " for my complete enjoyment. Nikita and Michael were almost as fascinating as Max and Logan. .

I notice the old tv series are starting to be released in full force on DVD at the moment. I picked up Macgiver and The A Team last week. Wow, did that bring back memories, including a big haired squeaky Teri Hatcher and a flannel shirted actress who played Renfro in Dark Angel in seperate episodes of Macgiver

I recently rented "Million Dollar Baby" and enjoyed it even though it was sad. I think that I'm going to have to check out, "La Femme Nikita."

Assault on Precint 13 has a few surprises in it, but is mainly a shot em up good cop bad cop film. Why nobody ever thinks to check the back seat of the vehicle they are trying to get away in, I'll never know. Not a bad movie in all.

;D ;D I have to be in a pensive mood to enjoy a film like Garden State. It had its moments and a few of them were very funny. I liked it better the second time I saw it.
I don't read reviews or listen to advice from friends on what movies to see. I rarely like the popular Oscar nominated films.
I thought "Million Dollar Baby" was boring and stupid. I could not stand Eastwood or Swank. If it hadn't been for Morgan Freeman I would have walked out.
I am rarely bored with anything in life. The only boring movies for me are teenage, high school angst movies. I can't stand them unless they are like "Clueless" which I absolutely loved.
I like films with quirky characters.
I refuse to discuss the most hated movie in my life, "Sylvia" I wanted to kill myself after watching that. And it starred Gwyneth Paltrow, one of my favorite actors.

Got Finding Neverland on DVD yesterday. Kate Winslet is outstanding as I've come to expect from every film she does, but Johnny Depps's ability to make his Scotish accent believable makes him a favourite of mine. A generally enchanting movie with a heart breaking ending.

I rented "Collateral" and I thought that while Jamie Foxx gave a good performance that the film seemed to be written so that Tom Cruise could play a bad guy more than anything else. I also rented "Pushing Tin" and I thought that the film had a great cast.
