did I get edited? Inception I've been a huge Nolan fan since Memento but for some reason I've got a bad feeling about this one . The vagueness of the trailer has me worried it will be all style no substance . Hope I am proven wrong. Excited by a Karate Kid remake? well ok ;D but I have to warn you that kid was in the Day the Earth Stood Still and it was one of the worst performances I've ever seen . not to pick on a little kid but it was horrible and ruined the movie.

While I'm happy the Hurt Locker won I've gotta say QT got screwed a bit. I think he should have one Best Screenplay, not Boal as Basterds had a much better script.

The only Oscar winner I really, really like is Out of Africa which I saw as a wee child and many times since on DVD. Braveheart I know how you love to correct me. ;D Yes, yes I do.

Hm, would have expected 'Avatar' to win more... Happened to catch a bit of one of the documentary short nominees last night: 'Rabbit à la Berlin'... About the rabbit population flourishing in the death zone between the inter-German border, quirky-smart idea and well done.

i still think that co-host steve martin should come out in his old white 3-piece suit and arrow through his head...kick it old school for the night Unfortunately while I enjoyed Steve Martin as co-host I fear that most would not have understood some of the humour. I noticed that while I was laughing at his joke about his first screen role as a poor black child the audience went silence. * What was up with Molly Ringwald? She seemed to need help to walk. * Wish they would cut out the saccharine speeches about the best actor/actress nominees. BARF!

Hm, would have expected 'Avatar' to win more... Science Fiction movies never win the main Oscars. The Lord of the Rings movie that won a few years ago was a rarity. Not Sci Fi at all but pure fantasy. I thought of a few of my favorite movies that have won Oscars in the past. I'll have to google 'em and see if there are more. Braveheart, thank you dzero. Out of Africa English PatientTitanicBridge on the River KwaiSilence of the LambsMan for All SeasonsDistrict 9 was probably last choice by most voters. It was real Sci Fi - something we don't see that often. It was too good for the Hollywood peeps to recognize. Even though I thought Inglourious Basterds was a superior movie compared to just another retread war movie, the best supporting male actor should have gone to Woody Harrelson in The Messenger. Just one avid movie goer's opinion. Any good WW II movie beats The Hurt Locker. I'm prejudiced - I hate all movies about the Iraq/Afghanistan wars. I haven't watched the show yet but I'll watch for AZ's comments.

Just one avid movie goer's opinion. Wow, I'm a military geek and even I don't think I could handle the Messenger. Any good WW II movie beats The Hurt Locker. I'm prejudiced - I hate all movies about the Iraq/Afghanistan wars. Is there a particular reason for this hatred?

How could I forget. My favorite part of the movie isn't the love story between Rick and Ilsa - it was the ending when Rick and Captain Renault walk off together. So funny. And we can't forget - Sam singing, "You must remember this, a kiss is still a kiss, a sigh is just a sigh - The fundamental things apply, As time goes by. And when two lovers woo, They still say, "I love you." That's all I remember - Ingrid Bergman is so beautiful in that movie - did the makeup person win an award? Back to the Oscars. (I hope Mr.Clark understands my sense of humor - it's funny.)

You shouldn't -- I hear tell there's a fanfic out there with Logan showing up in a white dinner jacket for a special dinner with Max, being all very Rick- Bogey... ;D (gee, I wonder who in the world woulda come up with THAT image?)

Just one avid movie goer's opinion. Yeah, but in interviews afterward, Jeff Bridges invoked The Dude, which made it all worthwhile.

(I hope Mr.Clark understands my sense of humor - it's funny.) In a more adult response ... EVERYTHING in that movie is my favorite moment. It's one of those movies that each time you watch it there's something else to marvel over. My most recent "favorite" thing about this movie (well, for the last couple years) is how every single shot is like a great movie poster -- amazing lighting, composition -- of course the scene at the bar ("Play it, Sam -- you played it for her, you can play it for me") but wow, how about at the station, in the rain, Bogey in the trench coat & fedora, on the train steps, and he slings away the cigarette as the train slowly starts up... ah... (And in recent years, how is that scene NOT Rick/Logan and Sam/Bling when Elsa/Max doesn't show...)and of course, the "beautiful friendship" on the runway (Logan/Matt???) ... ...and even the spoof years later in the Peter Falk movie, "the Cheap Detective," when they did the dueling anthems -- first the Nazis stood to sing, then the French, then Falk (as a sort of Bogey) and (I think Eileen Brennan) for up and started singing the old tune, "Deep Purple" (okay, funnier watched than read... ) (where's DiNozzo and his bottomless knowledge of films when you need him? ;D)

English Patient * I'm very happy that The Dude won the Oscar. White Russian's all round to celebrate ;D ;D ;D (Hubby's fave movie, the Big Lebowski. We went thru another phase around here a couple months ago when at least 5 times a week, in explaining whatever events were going on, one of us would have to say "New sh*t has come to light, man!" ;D Just don't roll on Shabbos...)
