from IMDB.com Me: Yes, we had noticed that Michael does do the romantic parts of his roles well.
You said in an earlier post that Michael has a great sense of humor but doesn't like a fuss made of him. Did you find that he was wary of the press? That would be understandable considering the media's muck racking attitude.
Debra: I think he talks to the press when he and they are available. I was referring to more his low-key style in that he doesn't have a list of needs in order to work. I do think he likes his privacy but he was very sweet to the fans that showed up and wanted their picture taken with him. (All the actors were very very nice in this area.)

from IMDB.com Me: Did you know Michael before this movie or had you just heard of him/ seen him on tv?
Debra: Michael was suggested for the "Tom" role by our Casting Director Orly Sitowitz. We'd realized we'd seen him on "Jesse" and he was very funny on this show though he had such small appearances.

Does anyone have any questions about Her Minor Thing that they want me to ask Debra.

So they'd never seen (or heard) of Michael in Dark Angel? Or just didn't realise that he could do comedy?

They'd never seen Michael in anything but Jesse when he was cast. Debra told me a couple of weeks ago that , that week was first time she had seen him in NCIS.

from imdb.com Me: That's funny cause I remember when he first started Dark Angel I was watching it on tv and thinking where have I seen that guy before. It wasn't until articles started being printed about him that I realised he was the sleazy ex-husband out of Jesse.
Have you known people personally like the character Michael plays?
Debra: Well yes. Tom's character is a composite of people Jim and I knew. I'd tell you details, but some of my old boyfriend wouldn't like it!
Me: How much advance warning do you usually get for showings of your movie at the film festivals?
Any word on cast members attending the festival yet?
Debra: We're usually notified about a month in advance - however I can't post until the film festival tells me it's OK. They naturally want to announce their own line up first.
Michael Weatherly is trying to get a day away from NCIS to attend. Estella and Christian's commitments are preventing them from coming to Sacramento. ):
Charlie Matthau will be there.
Some of our very funny supporting characters will be coming: Rick Kleber - health club guy and David Fine - seedy guy to name a few.
When David showed up on the set, security tried to escort him off because he showed up in character and was very convincing.

From IMDB.com Me: I hope Michael can get the day off. It'll be great publicity for both Her Minor Thing and NCIS. Maybe that's the angle he should take when asking for the day off: "Think of the publicity for NCIS this will generate." How are ticket sales going? Debra: Hi, We've sold over 700 tickets mostly by posting fliers and via the internet postings. Only one mention in the newspaper so far. Though we understand this Sunday "Her Minor Thing" will be mentioned in the Encore section. Take care, Debra Me: What rating does Her Minor Thing have? (i.e PG, R13) Debra: Hi There, It has not been officially rated, however it most likely would be PG-13. Take care, Debra This is the postcard that Debra (the producer) sent me: Scanned by AngelZ and up on www.michaelweatherlyfans.com/main.html

from imdb.com Me: Any news yet on getting Her Minor Thing into cinemas worldwide?
Debra: Nothing I can officially talk about. Sorry!
Me: Hopefully more newspapers will take an interest. 700 tickets is good right?
Debra: The theatre holds 975 adoring Michael, Christian and Estella fans. As of two night ago we'd sold all but 39 tickets. This is primarily by word of mouth so this is really fantastic for our film.

Debra: I'll definitely keep you posted! We have submitted to Raindance Film festival in the UK for those on that side of the pond. We won't know if we get in until mid August. And for my part, I'm finding Christian and Michael have the nicest fans all over the world!
Take care,

Here's the list of Film Festivals we've applied to: Toronto Film Festival Milwaukee, Wisconsin Film Festival (Don't laugh, we're from Wisconsin, all that good humor was from some of my dates there!) Raindance Film Festival San Diego Film Festival AFI (Los Angeles) Film Festival
Keep your eyes crossed, we've got some good meetings coming up this week! Wish us luck.

She's a bit run off her feet at the moment organising everything, but I think she's thrilled as this is the third sell out screening for Her Minor Thing.

unome : I am kind of bummed that the movie is now sold out. I really wanted to see it. Any chance of having anymore showings in Sacramento?
Debra: am so sorry. There will be more opportunity in the future, hopefully at the local theater near you. We tried to get the word out and we were simply amazed and delighted at how quickly tickets sold. Please return to imdb as I do post information regularly.
Take care, Debra

Best of all YOU are our Guest! Enjoy the show!
I'll be the one tripping, someone catch me please??
Me: When Michael fell/slipped in the lagoon he was still shooting an hour after the incident. How did you work that into the scene? Wouldn't he have been wet and discoloured?
Debra: No, Michael fell in prior to shooting starting. They were waiting for the crew to finish setup. Flex threw the ball to Michael, Michael jumped up to catch it, landed on the slippery edge of the lagoon and wala, smelly duck poopied Michael came out. He then tormented the cast and crew until a nice production assistant walked him over to his parent's home for a shower. Then a nice doctor came and made sure duck poopie didn't get into his ears and such.

From imdb.com From b_abero just got home from watching "Her Minor Thing" tonight and I thought it was absolutely fantastic! I was actually one of those many extras that were called to be a part of this great production and I had the honor of being a stand-in also! It was a pleasure working with Estella also. I'm more inspired than ever now to go out there and be in movies! :-D Thank you again for the fabulous evening and I can't wait for it to go out on DVD! Take care! From Debra: If you'd like to listen to Jeffrey Callison interviewing many of the people involved in making "Her Minor Thing" please go to www.capradio.org/programs/insight/default.aspx?showid=852At this time I'm still not sure if Michael actually ended up making it to Sacremento for the film festival, but I will let you know as soon as I find out from Debra

Debra: Hi All,
Here's the answers to your questions.
1) Additional Film Festivals, we're still waiting on this to hear. No news yet. ):
2) Thank you Bernard! If you would, Please write a little review of the film (don't give away the ending!)and rate it with Stars, this always helps the film. We're so glad you enjoyed it. We heard this again and again. We like the film and are very happy when other's do.
3) We don't make any money from the film festivals. This money goes to the film festival hosting us. Much of the money is spent for paying the theaters they screen films at, for mailings, for publicity publications for the festival as well as bringing in Hollywood people to their festival such as directors and actors. (We show up too, just to annoy the director and actors.) (;
4)Work on the Trailer will begin in about two weeks.
Me: I'm still trying to stop laughing over the mere image in my head of Michael covered in duck poop. It's a good job he's so good natured. How did the Film Festival go last night? Did Michael manage to make it?
Debra: Well maybe the ducks were very happy to have their poop on his head. There are girl ducks that probably are in love with Michael.
The film festival was a rousing success. Everyone really enjoyed the movie. Lots of laughs from start to finish. My boss, Susan, was in the audience and said the girls behind here couldn't stop talking about how dreamy Christian and Michael were.
I wore flats so no tripping occurred. This was much more of a premiere with limos (my first limo ride!) and lots of media! Long gowns for some.
Unfortunately Michael did not make it. Ivana chose to go to Mexico instead of Sacramento. I cannot imagine why?! (;
David Fine (seedy guy) and Rick Kleber (Carl) did come. Rick and Charlie had some funny back and forth on the stage to Rick on the audience. Rick had just had eye surgery and was wearing a dapper black eye patch. Charlie asked him if he was starring in a pirate movie. Rick told Charlie "Sure, if you're directing one now!" Also our local actors Elisabeth Nunziato, Jay Alan, Rachel Songer came and it was wonderful to see them again. Two L.A. actresses attended but didn't tell us until afterwards they were there. These two were Keary Ann Bixby and Ashley Rivard. If you are in the cast and are coming, please do e-mail Jim or I so we can introduce you to the audience. They always want to know who you are, and of course, what you're wearing!

Even though this review isn't the best, it does say some nice things about Michael so I thought I'd post it.
from imdb.com
Her Minor Thing is.....very minor, 18 August 2005
Author: cynmail from Sacramento
*** This comment may contain spoilers ***
OK, the cartooned opening and later captions are catchy and fun. There are a few laugh-out-loud moments in the film, a great feel for "hometown Sacramento," terrific performances by Christian Kane and Michael Weatherly, and on any day Estella Warren isn't hard to watch.... but I found the film sadly disappointing beyond these points.
Even a light romantic comedy needs a bit of conflict to shore up viewers' interest, but the conflict offered here is strictly ho-hum, who cares. If this were a novel, I would hope it would be three drafts short of the finished product -- the story just didn't hold my interest, nor the interest of those I was with. The last 20 minutes (well, excluding the concluding scenes which were, umm, worth the price of the ticket) completely fell apart -- because the structure just wasn't there to hold the end together. There were details missed, unclear plot points, predictable turns and murky transitions -- along with some hackneyed, silly clichés.
I wouldn't recommend this film, and I'll be surprised if it gets picked up for national distribution.
