Oh, yes, yes, yes… ;D ;D (Thanks!) The US Congress has decided that making DST a few weeks longer will save bucketloads of money & fix global warming (well, almost: less energy will be used with longer evening light.) Not all computer sites & formerly self-correcting systems are adjusting: I had to go in & switch the "yes-no" tab in my profile here to have it register on mine as DST now, so the mods may have a switch to throw, too. And I guess until you switch too, you're now 7 hours ahead of our east coast...? But thanks for reading, no matter what time it was! ~ ~

I'm printing it right now... ;D ;D ;D Hope you like... you can save for when Germany changes times, later... ~ ~ (since you printed, a date was inserted then changed about 15 times. It's now correct. That's what happens when you hire your cat as a beta...)

I couldn't help myself... The A/N is for you guys-- I appreciate your wanting more to existing stories (I do, too) and wish I had more time to write anyway (3 hour daily commute, 10-11 hour days in the office leave very little time for fic during the week...) But the toad is in charge. New story time: Unmasked!

Hi Annie-- Yeah, personally, I've not posted over there as much, mostly because my typical kicking in of second and third thoughts after jumping off half-cocked into some "great idea" -- I'd originally thought BBWW would be a good thing as far as DAR was concerned, because we must be boring to death all the people who come here for something other than overly-obsessive discussions about writing DA fic... However, we M/L types are too few to spread so thinly... and since we have so many options here-- photos of MW, smilies, photos of Loogie, PMs, photos of Tony... and did I mention photos? ...there just seemed to be too many reasons to come back here! (we welcome fic talk here, too-- right uh-huh, Aerie? )

However, we M/L types are too few to spread so thinly... But I really like BBWW and don’t want it to die (I already wanted to veto you on this when you posted something similar at BBWW, but then thought I really shouldn’t put in my opinion to everything . Yeah well, my resolution to be quiet didn’t last for very long ) Trying to refute your reasoning a bit: If the quietness on BBWW in the last months was only people shifting from one forum to another, DAR should have much more activity. I’d say it’s rather people losing interest or having busy real lifes, plus a lot of discussion of the Writer’s Pulse going on via email. Of course it’s true that the M/L lot is (too) small, but wasn’t one of the ideas of BBWW to attract more people? At least for a while it seemed to work… In short, I just have this unrealistical idea of having both forums .

Yeah well, my resolution to be quiet didn’t last for very long ) Absolutely post your opinions-- here, there & everywhere! Good grief, we need all views and lots of activity! It wasn't so much that I thought people were shifting over, but, as you mention too, that people aren't showing up anywhere as often as they had-- here, BBWW, FFN reviews, writing fic... My reasoning was that if people aren't showing up too often anyway, it might be better to have most activity in one place, so if for example a person looks to do some DA reading/writing for one hour a week, their hour would be shared in one place where they would see (and be seen) the greatest variety of DA info & comment available. (does that make any sense? ) Did it really pull in new people? Nearly everyone who posted there (or at least those whom I can recall) are here on DAR... I had hoped that some of the newer folks who are showing up in our reviews or on alert & favorites lists might find us and be encouraged to participate, but that didn't really happen-- did it? I really hoped to have both and am willing to see if we can warm things up *everywhere* to get more DA activity-- but I'm at a loss to know how. We created lots of topics and had lots of discussions, but many eventually fizzled, then the board quieted. Any ideas to get people talking? (Maybe when we get our WP story up we can do a threat do enourage discussion about the story or future projects-- but actually we could do that here-- ---what about the non-writers out there, or the writers who don't want to overanalyse every word they write? Would it make you crazy to have lots of e-mail about M & L and all sorts of fic about them? What can we do to poke some M/L activity?

Shy, I remember when you asked me to join the DA crew you told me about both DAR and BBWW. I took a look at both and went for DAR.
My reasons:
1. Some of the threads at BBWW are HUGE. I started to read, had an idea about the topic, went on reading and found the idea had already been posted and discussed before and now you guys were talking about something else. (In some cases the same here, I admit)
2. DAR is easier for someone with NO experience in posting whatsoever. It's clearly arranged and fun with avatars and things. And ff.net is so slow, sometimes it takes me an eternity to load a page.
3. The one time I read your posts at BBWW, I got the impression that it was a restricted circle of super writers (kinda like team of super heroes). I didn't have the courage to post there. I had read all of the stories of these authors and it was overwhelming to see my idols existed as people as well (sorry if that part is hard to understand). I still remember how exciting it was just to send an e-mail to Shy, without any expectation or glimpse of hope she would ever reply. But she did. And then all of my favorite authors at one place... Just too much. Somehow it's different at the DAR. Here I can hide behind dzero's posts or just fool around. It's about writing in the Writer's Guild, but it's not everything. Pictures, smilies, just fun. The same people as at BBWW, but not that .... intimidating.
I always had the intention to join BBWW once I felt confident enough in my writing (and had figured out how to use adverbs).

I had the EXACT same feeling, moving from BBWW to DAR, although I wasn't that active in BBWW anyway. BBWW was pretty intimidating, all the amazing writers and their fics grouped in one special place, and little ol' me just poking in here and there among you guys was scary. At least here I've got my own thread to kinda fool around with and be 'wacky'. I don't want BBWW to die though, I mean compare the 1000+ posts it has to the other MA/MZ/MW forums there it's definitely something to be proud of, so even if our numbers are small, at least we know we're in this together. (I'm starting to sound like one of the lecturers at my college. Yikes..) Oh, and by the way, as to not be off topic... Totally loved the second chapter of Unmasked! Looking forward to the next chapter.

Wow... thanks for the insights... I know the feeling you mean, but I had hoped we didn't give that impression in our enthusiasm to post. I guess it was having a handful of yappy writers jumping on happily that made it hard to peek in? We had several threads asking for story ideas, specifically inviting ideas from non-writers, but never got many responses. I'd hoped that a thread like that would pull in some new folks, but I can imagine that it still wasn't that easy to pipe up (took me a year of lurking to have the nerve to post my first review <I can imagine those wishing I'd never found the 'courage'!> When active, it was a fun place to throw around story ideas-- but since you two had the feeling it was a closed circle, any ideas what we might have done/ had posted to make you feel more at home? Any way we can keep things alive here but if the discussion becomes too esoteric we could expand there? ....I still don't know what the non-fic peeps here want us to do! (Dzero, do you even look at posts that don't include a photo of a gorgeous female sort of person? (the test will be if he sees his name embedded so far down in all this yammering! )
Anything to keep M & L alive and fic flowing! ideas, anyone? ~ ~ ...and Griever, thanks for the comment about chapter 2!
