Atonement had some good parts, but it wasn't a great movie for me. I think the actor who played the younger sister was excellent but the rest of them were just adequate. I don't see it as special or memorable in any way. The book handles the ending better, but it's just one step up from a Danielle Steele novel. I've only read one Steele book so I shouldn't judge, but when has that stopped me. This is sooooo shallow of me but Kiera Knightley has the figure of an eleven year old girl and I'm uncomfortable watching grown men kissing and fondling her. The impression of pedophilia is creepy to me.

Has any women been fondling him ? ;D ;D I just said that Zac was a little cutie patootie. He looks about 15 years old. All my little cousins, from age 5 to 15 are in love with him. They watch the High School Musical movies daily and have posters of him all over their walls. I liked Hair Spray and Zac was in it. That movie made me laugh and I like to be happy. Atonement could have used a little happiness. They could have had Zac as the boyfriend for the little sister, the spawn of the devil.

Has any women been fondling him ? You've got a point. It would be pretty surprising to see any women fondling him. ;D ;D

Saw Juno last night. At first I was thinking "man is this thing overated " but the second half was much better, funny and surprising. Still think it is a little overated but a nice movie.

Of course it's overrated. I don't see how this could be considered for an Oscar and I liked Juno a lot. I think the female star was very good and might be deserving of the Oscar nod. Better than most of the females from the last few years. Juno is this years Little Miss Sunshine, a pleasant, fun little flick with excellent performances but nothing I'll want to see again or buy the DVD. I don't read reviews but I can't help but see the ads all over the 'net. For me Juno and Little Miss Sunshine are tons better than the Ray Charles Debacle and the Johnny Cash movement from previous years. I'm definitely out of the main stream. I thought Heath Ledger was awful in Brokeback, couldn't understand a word he said. The beautiful scenery made that movie worth seeing for me.We need an Oscar thread.

Street Kings, my thoughts: Let me start off by saying this film has flaws. Huge gaping flaws, mostly the dialogue which at times is soap opera cheesy and almost completely retarded. But i loved this movie, its dark its dirty and its bad ass and it grabs you buy the balls and does a solid job of holding on for the entire running time. This is also the most I've ever enjoyed Keanu Reeves, as an actor i really despise him, but in this he basically tries to channel his inner Bullitt, and does a nearly respectable job. He plays the kind of character i love the dark morally questionable hero, the kind of guy who has in some cases more dirt and blood on his hands than some of the bad guys hes gunning down in cold blood, but hes trying to do the right thing. Hes the big bad wolf you need to scare away the other wolves. He's also doomed to a life of misery because his skill set prevents him from being well adjusted and he struggles with this. He is not however the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to seeing the big picture. As only Keanu can do he some how makes it possible for us to relate to a guy who cant see what every other person on the planet sees. This film has an excellent cast and they all try there hardest to make this work and in the end thats what saves this film in many respects. Forrest Whitaker at times over acts but he gives it his all and its very good in most scenes. Chris Evans, who despite the pile of sh*t the fantastic four franchise has turned out to be, puts in a very solid turn as the green cop who sees Reeves for what he is and tries to follow in his steps but he just doesn't have it. Hugh Laurie is good but slightly under used as the slimy do gooder that wants to bring down the Big Blue Wall. Honorable mention goes to Common for a solid turn in whats basically a glorified cameo. The one thing i wish this movie had that would have put it over the top for me is a balls to the wall car chase. Keanu's car(a black Dodge Charger, subtle nod to Bullitt maybe?) is so sick and sounds so good it made me tingle (even sounds like the Bullitt Charger). It would have been perfect for an out and out chase scene which unfortunately we don't get. With better dialogue and maybe a slightly better actor in the lead this could have been truly amazing. As it is its a very watchable and exciting bar brawl of a film. A lot like training day. PS shywriter you need to see this then we can PM each other a couple dozen more times.
