I've been too busy since I've been back from vacation to go to the movies, but I intend to see Good Luck Chuck this week. It's still playing all over town. I vacation with some of my peeps and we all bring one movie or a couple of episodes of a series to watch. Of course, we watch some eps of Dark Angel. We don't have TV's but we have large monitors and DVD players. I rewatched one of my favorite movies from 2006 with my 8 favorite characters of the year. Maya, Jack, Shortie, Max, Truman, Dewey, Shadow and Buck. Those guys are the only movie stars I've ever dreamed about.

Those guys are the only movie stars I've ever dreamed about. I recognize this from the 10 minutes I lasted watching this movie . But you might want to give it's title I haven't been to the movies in a month , now there are so many movies to see I don't know where to begin . I have caught some films on cable that I missed in the theater. A Good Year was entertaining, made me want to take a vacation in France . Even better was Pan's Labyrinth. Very imaginative and sad, in a good way .

You were foolish not to continue. Maya, Jack, Shortie, Max, Truman, Dewey, Shadow and Buck are the stars of the movie. At least half of the movie is these guys on their own, struggling to survive. A leopard seal attacks them and that is scary as hell, Geez, what a monstrous animal that is. More leopard than seal. I don't cry easily but at the mostly happy Disney ending (it is a Disney picture) everybody had tears running down their face. I love survival-in-the-wild movies. I don't have to since I already know it and if anyone that reads this is fool enough not to have seen this movie - then to them. It even had a pet dog named Brandy, a red setter, towards the end. I might get it on DVD, it's a special movie. What a fantastic movie. Not for little kids.

I think I've mentioned before that I only got to see the first 5 or 10 minutes of The Bear (Ours, L'). I became so distraught when the mama bear died that I can't even bring myself to look at the DVD cover. That was almost 20 years ago For obvious reasons I never saw 'the penguin' movie.

AZ, don't you have Bambi, Cinderella and all the other Disney movies where he gladly killed all mothers. I took two of my cousins, age 5 and 6 to see March of the Penquins and they both cried and cried. It was awful. When I took them out afterwards for hamburgers, fries, shakes and little apple pies, it gave me an opportunity to explain survival of the fittest, etc, and that made them cry again. I'm sure I don't have to explain that I had a salad and not that other stuff. I don't eat ground beef anywhere, anytime. Well, I did sneak a few fries while they were drying their eyes.

We have Bambi on DVD, but I have explained to my girls that I can't watch it with them. I cried at the beginning of Nemo The mum is already dead in Cinderalla - so you don't get to see or feel it Now that you mention it, there are a lot of orphans in Disney movies! And as Lelu knows, I cried during Lilo and Stitch too

I think Walt Disney killed more mothers than any other film maker. We need to find out just how many mothers have perished. I'll get my secretary, dzero, to get on that right away.

Disney changed up and killed the father in the Lion King; trying to break type I guess
The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast had mothers already gone
Usually one parent is gone one way or the other; Mulan is the only one I can think of with both parents [not counting Pixar or live action ones in this - though not thinking well at 2a.m.]

OK, I'll just come right out and admit it. I have failed in my duties as secretary . Failed my boss, failed to satisfy her every fickle whim. In an effort to make amends, I have brought gifts to all the Disney lovers here. A real Snow White. And because it's Halloween and this is the movie thread, a truly scary pic from an upcoming film. any guesses?

I've seen a couple movies lately, enjoyed them both. Michael Clayton and American Gangster.
Both were entertaining, smart and suspenseful.

I've only seen one movie since I've returned from vacation. Good Luck Chuck.I intend to go on a movie binge soon. Two movies a day for ten days. Maybe we can meet at the Arclight theater in Hollywood like we did before. This weekend they are having the ArcLight's Unique "21+" Screenings and we can get drunk while we watch.
