Rumor hazzit that Paris Hilton has been hitting the talk show circuit promoting the great American autobiography. I wonder if any of our members could tell us about it.
I know, you all will be too embarrased to admit it. But you could just say you were surfing and happened to run across it. The batteries died in the remote and you had to stay on that channel. ;D

No, you are not wrong, but you might need reading glasses. Or perhaps my post was too obscure. I think I joke around too much. I need to work on that.

When you mentioned, Paris Hilton Aerie, I had to assume that the book was about her and nothing that was or would be historically relevant. ;D ;D ;D She's a perfect example of how a person can be famous today because of popular culture and how a person can really be famous just for being famous more than anything else.

I love that a thread about literature has degenerated into a discusion on Paris Hilton ;D ;D. Trust me, when I started this thread, it wasn't my intention! The Simple Life II is starting in Aus at the moment, so ofcourse that is the prime subject of conversation amongst my guy mates. Any details on when her book will actually be released? I think that it is ironic when young people write autobiographies. I don't think anyone under thirty has lived enough have enough experiences to truely reflect on their lives. But that is just my opinion....

The Simple Life II is starting in Aus at the moment, so ofcourse that is the prime subject of conversation amongst my guy mates. I saw most of the first season and thought it was pretty funny. I think a couple of Aliens could have been dropped into that Arkansas town and fit in better than those 2 airheads ;D ;D. But a little goes a long way I guess cause I didn't watch a second of Season 2. Any details on when her book will actually be released? The book is already out in the U.S. www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0743266641/qid=1095391914/sr=ka-1/ref=pd_ka_1/103-3676582-6300654, don't know if the release is different in Australia . I edited this post because the link was blinking. Very weird. This Board has been behaving badly.

I went to the link and cringed when I saw the cover! Ugh!!
While it would actually be interesting to see if Miss Hilton can actually write something legible, I dont know if I have the guts to actually go to the local book store and ask if they have it in! Lol!
Has anyone actually read the book?

The actual title of the book is "Confessions of an Heiress: A Tongue-in-Chic Peek Behind the Pose". It could be quite funny depending on who wrote it. I ask to please be excused from reading and reviewing the book. I have a low urp level and I don't have a pot big enough to boil my head in. ;D ;D (Please notice, dzero, another urp.

Well the book has arrived down under and I have a friend who bought it from her local Target. She says that the book is such a joke and we returned it yesterday.
Now! Has anyone read any good books lately?

Yes, I have read a good book lately. I took one novel on vacation and it was Gravity by Tess Gerritsen, M.D. This book was the most suspenseful book I have ever read. I couldn't put it down and read it straight through all night. It's about a biological disaster aboard the International Space Station and the astronauts that have to face this catastrophe. I love to read books that have strong, smart women characters. That's why I loved Dark Angel. ( Well, other than Logan/Eyes Only.)I've ordered Tess Gerritsen's other books from Amazon today. Tess Gerritsen's web site www.tessgerritsen.com/

Sorry to bring the topic back to Paris Hilton ;D but she is now apparently taking JAs job rejects. Emenim wanted JA to be in his new video and ended up with Hilton instead " And we needed somebody to punch me, slap me and pull my hair. Our first candidate was Jessica Alba. We couldn't get Jessica, and Paris happened to be in town." www.rollingstone.com/news/story/_/id/6593164/eminem?pageid=rs.NewsArchive&pageregion=mainRegion&rnd= 1099535850460&has-player=true&version=6.0.7.881 On the actual subject of books, I bought a copy of " A Scanner Darkly" a couple of months ago and haven't read it yet . Has anybody read it? Maybe if I read some good things about it, it will be the kick in the ass I need to get started I had to edit this post because the link was blinking. Or possibly winking. ? Very strange.

Emenim's got it bad for Jessica Alba. He will have to get in a very long line.
A Scanner Darkly is very different from Philip Dick's other stories. I read it a long time ago and don't remember details other than the darkness. (geez, I sound like Max)
He is a wonderful SciFi writer
I heard it was finally going to be made into a movie with Winona Ryder and Robert Downey, Jr. Two troubled people in a film about troubled people.
Philip Dick died about 20 years ago, and no I don't remember when it happened so don't ask.
dzero, read the freaking book and come back to give us a review. We will want details so don't try to skim it.

I usually don't read single books, but a series. My favorite series of all time is "The Sword of Truth" series by Terry Goodkind. Which a friend of mine refered to me in 96 & I've been hooked since. Other series I've enjoyed are "The Wheel of Time" by Robert Jordan. "The Dark Elf" trilogy by R. A. Salvatore. Various "Dragon Lance" stories, Also I think it was called "The Elenian" & "The Belgarion", both seperate series & I can't remember the authors' names.
