On the actual subject of books, I bought a copy of " A Scanner Darkly" a couple of months ago and haven't read it yet . Has anybody read it? Maybe if I read some good things about it, it will be the kick in the ass I need to get started Well, did you get that kick in the ass? 6 months and counting. My favorite non-Sci Fi author has a new book coming out May 10th. His 16th novel with Prey in the title. I'm planning to take that Tuesday off work and school, go to the beach and read all day. . . . . . . . . . . . .

Found this site where you can read books online www.readbookonline.net/ it's good for short stories IMO. I've been reading some true crime stories lately The Valachi Papers and Murder Machine.

Can anyone recommend a good book thats okay to put down and pick up. Having to get up every two hours in the middle of the night tends to get real dull so i'm looking for something interesting.

Having to get up every two hours in the middle of the night tends to get real dull so i'm looking for something interesting. And you still have the energy to read? Can anyone recommend a good book thats okay to put down and pick up. Hm, have you tried Zadie Smith? I’ve read “White Teeth” in little chunks in my ten minute tram ride, so the pick-up factor is okay… Or, funny and sad: “Ready, Okay!” by Adam Cadre. (He also has a homepage with some short stories: adamcadre.ac/ )

Skip the Da Vinci code and any of the knock-offs. If only you were closer I could mail books to you. You need something that will make you want to get up so you can read. Not that it will happen but you know what I mean. I've been baby sitting 4 month old twins at night and reading a lot. Long novels by Susan Howatch I've had for years and never read. (The twins parents are in casts, crutches and bed rest because of an accident.) I have a helper who is reading these books also. Cashelmara - 702 pages Penmarric - 726 pages Wheel of Fortune - 973 pages These are not the historical romance thing. Fascinating and almost makes it worth while to miss sleeping. ALMOSTLast month I read Z for Zachariah by Robert O'Brien - about a 15 year old girl who thinks she is the last person left after a nuclear accident. I love this book and read it every other year.

The book i have been reading is perfect, it isn't a story so i don't feel like i'm missing anything by not reading it. But it seems slightly odd that while i'm feeding my son i'm reading about Jack the Ripper . Oh how i long for the 4 month stage, they sleep for more than 2 hours at a time - heaven.

By 'isn't a story' i mean that there isn't a long drawn out storyline to follow.
And thanks for reminding me (wanker).

I think I'm the only one in the world who like the movie version of From Hell.
