There are popular actors out there that leave me cold. It's just a personal thing and I wonder if some of you feel the same way. Not specifically about the actors that suck big time for me, but any actor. I don't watch TV so I don't know any of those actors but you can diss them if you wish. Mark Ruffalo Christian Bale (I still liked Batman Begins) Brandon Routh (Ruined Superman for me) Michael VartanKristin (or Kirsten) Dunce (I give her every chance. She even ruined a tennis movie and I love all things tennis.) Anne Hathaway (even she couldn't ruin The Devil Wears Prada for me.) Kate BosworthSarah Michelle GellerJennifer Garner (The sweet little voice drives me out of the theater) and every female actor with a little girl voice. I can't listen. It's not their fault. It's me. I'm lacking something that would allow me to enjoy their performances.

Hey there little miss "You are speaking of the man I love. Well, one of 'em." You can't dump this all on shywriter. ;D
Seriously though, I don't get your reaction to Bale? One of the best actors in the world IMO.
As for an actor I just don't get? Jim Carrey

He's a good actor but I don't feel the chemistry with other actors. All the supporting actors were good in Batman and they helped him look good. I couldn't feel any chemistry between whatzername, TomKat's mother, and I like her. He is just there - I can't feel any charisma with this guy, yet many of his movies are good. He could be replaced by any tall, dark good looking competent actor. 3:10 to Yuma (Russell Crowe chewed up the scenes in this. Bale didn't stand a chance.)Rescue Dawn (All the violence got boring after awhile.) The New World (One of the most boring movies ever made)Batman Begins Reign of Fire (I liked this dragon movie) Captain Corelli's Mandolin American Psycho The Portrait of a Lady Swing Kids Henry V (A favorite of mine & I can't remember him)Empire of the Sun Never liked any movie he was in.

There are popular actors out there that leave me cold. John Malcovitch past, current, future, back when all the rage and now when not so much. Even when he's supposed to be creepy, he's creepy. Can't watch him. Richard Dreyfus: last nerve gone, thanks to him. Only good role = guy in "What About Bob?" Tailor-made. (yes, I know they're old news, but why do you think I haven't made it to the movies in so long?)

There is just no way that "any tall, dark good looking competent actor." could equal his performance in American Psycho. I don't really like the film but the performance is amazing. Haven't seen Rescue Dawn Wasn't his part in Henry V basically a cameo? Like one scene? Already argued with you about 3:10 to Yuma and you are right about The New World, when you post about how much you don't like Colin Ferrall then that film will be relevant I'm just saying

I see she's at it again. Maybe she needs a beta. All the peeps at IMDb are choking on their popcorn. Although I agree about the Malcovitch guy. I have to admit that generally I like to see good looking people when I pay so much to see a movie. Dang, I even prefer good lookers when I get passes to movies. If I want to see homely people I'll walk down the street. Well, not in my neighborhood because I swear to the Blue Lady another of my neighbors has had "work done." He's probably 50 and now looks 28.

I'm really liking this thread Never liked any movie he was in. To be fair he was good in The Truman Show but it would have been pretty hard to screw that one up. On the other hand he single handedly ruined Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for me. All they had to do is replace him with Edward Norton and that would have been the best movie of that year IMOI'm sure by now it seems like I'm just looking for an argument ;D but I've always liked John Malkovich. Think the first time I saw him was in a taped version of Death of a Salesman, Malkovich played biff and Dustin Hoffman played Willy Loman. Saw it in a High School English class, thought it was some of the best acting I'd ever seen.
