From SpoilerTV
Will NCIS: Los Angeles have the same comic zing as its predecessor? - Susan ADAM: If NCIS is Coca-Cola, then NCIS: Los Angeles is clearly Diet Coke. Linda Hunt definitely adds some humor to the mix, but overall the new show lacks the quirkiness of the mothership. Maybe Chris O'Donnell's G. Callen will lighten up a bit once he stops sleeping on the sofa. Source: TV Guide

This show is not long for this world. I hate this hole emphasis on the cult of personality thing that Brennan seems to have carried over from NCIS proper is getting on my nerves. In NCIS any time Gibb's meets another Marine they have the hole meeting of the minds thing where they walk around in circles and stare at each other like a couple dogs. Now we get the same thing with Sam whenever he meets anyone that was special ops.
I liked Nate at first but now hes getting kind of obnoxious and he is really really tall apparently. Hetty is really quite annoying maybe more annoying than the woman she replaced whose name currently escapes me. The rest of the characters are marginally annoying, except of course for Kensie, sweet Kensie, I do hope she finds work elsewhere in the near future. Maybe a recurring role on NCIS.....

I do think it would interesting to see exactly how well "NCIS Los Angeles" would do in the ratings if it wasn't paired with "NCIS." I also think that given who the stars of "NCIS Los Angeles" are that CBS really wants this show to be a hit.

From the NY post-02/22/09
'NCIS,' JR. Takes Shape By Maxine Shen
RED-HOT SERIES TO SPINOFF TO BOW IN THE FALL
With "NCIS" ratings at an all-time series high, it's no wonder the CBS wants a spinoff of the hit drama.
Altough the network is reluctant to dish out details of what fans can expect to see in the as-yet-untitled series due this fall, the Hollywood reporter reported that three actors have been cast as regulars for the pilot episode: Louis Lombard (last seen playing steely blond Det. Sofia Curtis on "CSI"), Peter Cambor ("Notes from the Underbelly") and American TV newcomer, Daniela Ruah.
Negotiations are still under way with Chris O'Donnell and LL CoolJ, who would play the two leads.
While not an exact character-for-character copy, longtime "NCIS" fans will see elements of the characters they already know.
As the female lead, Lombard plays Clara, a military police major-turned-investigator. Sounds like a combination of Mossad Officer Ziva David (Cote de Pablo), and slain Caitlin Todd (Sasha Alexander), Who joined NCIS by way of the Secret Service.
Cambor plays Nate, an operational psychologist. His "NCIS" counterpart would be Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) because both are obsessed with trivia. Tony's knowledge relates movies, while Nate's specialty is American culture.
Meanwhile, Ruah - a Portuguese telenovela star - will take on the role od Kensi, an investigator with a background in forensics and criminology. While not an exact match to Abby Sciutto (Pauley Perrette), "NCIS" resident Goth lab tech, It's probably as close as the spinoff's going to get.
If O'Donnell and Cool J sign on, it's thought that they'll play Callen - a "Human chameleon" - and Sam, a former U.S. Navy Seal.
"NCIS" is actually a spinoff of "JAG" the Naval law series staring David James Elliot. Back in 2003, Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and the NCIS team were introduced in a two-part episode of "JAG."
CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler confirmed that "the new show will be an episode of 'NCIS'" to air this spring.
