Well, I fell for it --
You know, that trick where they put a character form one show onto another to get viewers of the first show to watch the 2d/newer/less popular one. Well, Abs was on NCIS:LA last night and I watched, the first time I watched the show since I saw the first 10 min of eps one and two. (and not even watching for Mr. Shy, since he wasn't home -- so will be watching it again soon with him!)
And I gotta say, I liked it far more than I had the first bits.
I think what's being said on Special Ops is true about them getting into their rhythm, all that. Callen seems less stiff (honestly, he was the best they could do as the main character? Another example of name over skills, although they have moved things up a few notches with Linda Hunt.)
I have been intrigued from the start with their having LL Cool J as the second lead. I don't know why I should be so surprised seeing a rapper go to acting; we have a respectable list of rapper-turned-actors (well, okay, I can think of 2 at the moment -- but they're both quite good!) But what's cracking me up now is this thing he has for wearing hats (and regular street clothes, or shirt & jacket sorts of things) when not in the show -- they make him seem like just a sweet faced, affable guy, maybe a teeny bit goofy looking -- but take off the hat & put him on those t-shirts they have him in on the show, with those big guns of his, the shaved head -- woof, I totally see him as ex-Seal ... and he seems focused, bright, totally fits the character -- the kind of guy who might eat a rapper for breakfast!
Dunno of this will get me watching the show more regularly, but they had a tasty little ep last night & it appears they have every right to hang in there.
