The only one who im skeptical about so far is Karl Urban as bones, granted it was a 5 second clip but he looked really annoying in it. ... annoying? Sounds pretty much like Bones to me -- especially annoying Spock! (and I was a Bones fan...)Well, you guys have already passed my puny knowledge about the flick. I was just impressed as hell that I mentioned a *new* movie before anyone else did...

Ironically, JJ Abrams has toured the big cities showing off some loarge chunks of the film to critics and from what I've heard Urban does an outstanding job disappearing into the role.

They should have cast the actor who played Shawn Spencer . Problem is that he would have outshone everyone

saw "the day the earth stood still" i wasnt blown away by it, but its was pretty good and contary to what ive read, you DO hear the words "klaatu verada nicto" in one of the opening scenes, that stops gort from destroying a bunch of army guys on the park..right after klaatu gets shot...its covered up by some computer sounds..but its there

Now it seems like one of those cheap German TV movies with special effects for special effects sake and nothing else...

saw "the day the earth stood still" i wasnt blown away by it, but its was pretty good Yeah I thought it was entertaining. I have a feeling a better director could have made a really good movie but we'll never know. I saw a great line in an AICN review from someone that caught a preview screen for the The Day the Earth Stood Still, "And Keanu was inspired casting. If anyone ever looked like human movement, speech and emotion were totally alien concepts, it's our boy." This comment is spot on. I like Keanu more than most others seem to but he certainly isn't right for every role and this one as an alien in a human body is perfect for him. The other actors? Love Jennifer Connelly and she is good as the leading character here ( though it wouldn't hurt if someone would feed the poor girl a burger and throw an extra helping of fries in with that ). John Cleese was nowhere to be seen in the trailers but he has a nice cameo. Best of all....... J.C. MacKenzie the late great Normal has a couple scenes near the beginning of the film as one of Connelly's fellow scientists. Unfortunately Jon Hamm sooooo great on Mad Men is wasted here. How fascinating would have been to see 'Master of the Universe' Don Draper deal with an alien invasion? my guess is he would have nailed more alien chicks than Captain Kirk. Finally the one bad part of the film...I don't know his name and don't want to know it but there is a little kid in this movie who is beyond annoying. Grrrrrgh he almost ruined the whole thing . So as someone who never saw the original I would recommend this movie as a fun sci fi popcorn flick for anyone interested in that kind of thing.

I beleive that little kid is Will Smith's son.
The only movie I ever liked Keanu Reeves in was Street Kings. In every film I see him in theres at least one moment or scene where he gives a look or says a line that gives me a flashback to Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.

Saw Slumdog Millionare tonight its a pretty good movie the Danny Boyle did an excellent job directing it and the story and acting are all quite good. Its in my top 10 for the year but I don't think I'm ready to say its the best I've seen all year.

WTF? Guy Pearce is in Bedtime Stories? I just found out. Do I have to go see a freaking Adam Sandler movie to see one of my favorite actors?

If your looking for a Guy Pierce movie to watch thats the one. Using IMDb's my movie feature I calculated that I've seen 56 movies so far this year, thats just stuff that came out this year. Will probably crack 60 before the ball drops. I've seen most of the Oscar baits only ones left that I want to catch are Benjamin Button, Valkyrie, the Wrestler, Waltz with Bashir, Yes Man and maybe if I can be arsed the Spirit. Only Oscar bait I probably wont bother seeing is Doubt.

If your looking for a Guy Pierce movie to watch thats the one. Missed that one, will probably catch it when it comes to cable. Just out on cable is In Bruges, I think Mr Clark gave this one a positive review and I have to agree. Hitmen, black humor, sexy French girls what more could you want in a movie? No really a very interesting plot and well acted this is in my top 10 of the year. my one tiny complaint is the chase at the end which is one of those movie chases where suddenly the bad guy can't shoot for sh!t even though his target is right in front of him
