I have only seen T1, I have not even seen the TV Show. Also I read there is going to be Lethal Weapon 5. has anyone seen the movie the day the earth stood still, the ad for it is on all the time. Mel Gibson says hes not going to do another Lethal Weapon, which I hope effectively kills that idea. As far as the day the earth stood still, if I go see it it'll be to see the trailer for Transformers II that's supposedly going to be attached. I'll watch the trailers then walk out of that and go see Australia or something.

I know someone who has seen the new The Day the Earth Stood Still and he said it is nothing like the original except for the title and the names - Gort and Klaatu and the anti-war message. He liked it a lot but said it was choppy in places and 10 or 15 minutes too short. Fox has a rep for bad editing. They pay the big bucks for a long movie then chop it down before release. I'm looking forward to a good Sci Fi flick. The original, which I have on VHS, is fun to watch. In 1950 women wore dresses and high heels around the house and even when they were out chasing alien robots through the park. It's very dated but has a strong message for the war mongers of earth.

Re the Day the Earth Stood StillThe original, which I have on VHS, is fun to watch. In 1950 women wore dresses and high heels around the house and even when they were out chasing alien robots through the park. ...and they gave kids lines like. "I like you Mr. Carpenter, you're a real screwball!" Even better, they gave the protagonists these lines: Klaatu: I'm worried about Gort. I'm afraid of what he might do if anything should happen to me.Helen: Gort? But he's a robot. Without you, what could he do?Klaatu: There's no limit to what he could do. He could destroy the Earth. But as Aerie said, it's got a great anti-war message-- noteworthy, as it was made during the Cold War in 1951. It ends with Klaatu's speech: The universe grows smaller every day, and the threat of aggression by any group, anywhere, can no longer be tolerated. There must be security for all, or no one is secure. Now, this does not mean giving up any freedom, except the freedom to act irresponsibly. Your ancestors knew this when they made laws to govern themselves and hired policemen to enforce them. We, of the other planets, have long accepted this principle. We have an organization for the mutual protection of all planets and for the complete elimination of aggression. The test of any such higher authority is, of course, the police force that supports it. For our policemen, we created a race of robots. Their function is to patrol the planets in spaceships like this one and preserve the peace. In matters of aggression, we have given them absolute power over us. This power cannot be revoked. At the first sign of violence, they act automatically against the aggressor. The penalty for provoking their action is too terrible to risk. The result is, we live in peace, without arms or armies, secure in the knowledge that we are free from aggression and war. Free to pursue more... profitable enterprises. Now, we do not pretend to have achieved perfection, but we do have a system, and it works. I came here to give you these facts. It is no concern of ours how you run your own planet, but if you threaten to extend your violence, this Earth of yours will be reduced to a burned-out cinder. Your choice is simple: join us and live in peace, or pursue your present course and face obliteration. We shall be waiting for your answer. The decision rests with you. (doncha just love IMDb?)

The premise in the trailer of ‘The Day Earth stood still’ sounded kind of interesting, but reading here that it’s only a remake made me lose interest. And now, with this things beyond our knowledge-concept, I really want to see the original.

Oh, yeah... Classic. (grumbling about a remake. would wreck it all...)Yeah, saw the advertising poster and thought WHY, WHY, WHY? I guess Hollywood has run out of ideas...or maybe just movie titles?

I saw a great line in an AICN review from someone that caught a preview screen for the The Day the Earth Stood Still, "And Keanu was inspired casting. If anyone ever looked like human movement, speech and emotion were totally alien concepts, it's our boy."

Sorry but I'm not a big fan of remakes. me, either... however... Anyone see the trailer for the new Star Trek movie? I'm intrigued... could be a train wreck but (big surprise) even in the short trailer it's clear they're pandering to the Trekkies, 'cos what else is another ST movie for? It's a prequel for the crew of the original series -- with a young(er) Scottie, younger Bones and (waaaaay!!!) younger Kirk *&* Spock. (and I'm a sucker for that kind of stuff, even though I lost interest in ST after the 42nd movie and 25th TV spin off... ) I'm sure I'll see it, just dunno if I'll see it before it hits ON Demand or DVD... (PS: Okay, so that made me want to see the trailer again: longer clip www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/startrek/large_trailer2.html ; shorter at www.startrekmovie.com/ ... and Holy cow!! Maybe not full on, but in profile the first time you see him -- does that guy look like Spock!!

Sorry but I'm not a big fan of remakes. It's not a remake. They just borrowed the title and main characters names - but nothing else if even similar except the message. I don't watch remakes if I've seen the original. I'm always crabby afterwards and my friends hate that. I became a big Keanu Reeves fan after watching The Lake House. I love that movie. Absolutely love it. I usually don't like romantic movies unless they're Sleepless in Seattle, which I adore. The Lake House is special for me - I can't really explain it. I saw it in the theater 3 times the week it came out. My friends tell me it was the dog - I'm a sucker for a dog in a movie. But I know it was the characters, including the dog, and the storyline which boggled my mind. Now we can start a dialog about the the STAR TREK MOVIE. I wonder if the new hot guys will do it - or if this will just be another Hot Boy movie. I miss my FireFox spelling thingie

Anyone see the trailer for the new Star Trek movie? Sorry to be a downer but this didn't look good to me at all. Mostly just cause the young Kirk looked horrible to me. They should have cast the actor who played Shawn Spencer . prefer Scott y thank you very much

I think it looks amazing. It looks shiny and cool and from the most part I really like the casting. The only one who im skeptical about so far is Karl Urban as bones, granted it was a 5 second clip but he looked really annoying in it. Quinto looks a lot like Spock, Simon Pegg looks like a brilliant choice for Scotty. I've yet to be disappointed by Anton Yelchin, and I never thought Uhura could be that hot. As far as Chris Pines Kirk, I'm actually looking forward to it. One of the things that pisses me off the most in film is when you get actors who take over a character originated with someone else and they try and mimic the original actor. I much prefer it when they make it there own and bring something new to it.

They should have cast the actor who played Shawn Spencer . I haven't watched the trailers so I can't comment. However, Bill Shatner was wonderfully good looking when he was young. Ah - - Scotty my boy, I thought you'd say that. Mr.ClarkIn this case I don't see why Abrams would allow them to do more than copy a couple of mannerisms. It would be a completely new palete on which to paint their characters. ;D I've seen a few Abrams written TV series and movies but most are so-so for me. Armageddon is a fun watch - but stupid Forever Young is surprisingly likeable Regarding Henry - - I couldn't like because I can't watch Harrison Ford when he's acting. Terrible actor unless it's an action movie. Alias probably was good but after watching the first 3 eps I couldn't stand Garner's fighting. She fought like she was wearing a tutu, ballet shoes and prancing to Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty Waltz. No grit. Max, Tinga & Brin spoiled me for female street fighting. Would never watch teen shows like Felicity if you threatened to poke out my eyes with a dull stick. Skipped Lost even though I have it on DVD. Fringe I might buy when it's released. shyI just watched the trailers for Star Trek Reinvented and it looks like fun but I don't know if I'm interested enough to see it.
