really good episode! definitely a 9. they just seem to keep getting better and better. the humor and interaction were great. so many funny scenes and lines - i can't remember them all, but a few: tony conning kate into talking to his 'ex-girlfriend' who is hounding him and telling her that she is his wife. kate then finds out tony had bet mcgee 40 bucks he could get kate to say she was his wife. gibbs telling tony to check and see if mcgee is alive in the back of the van. tony making mcgee put on those wader thingys. abby's: "i'll get you, my pretty" and the cold fish joke. we find that tony did come from money. i liked gibbs comment about tony's parents not letting him get into the money because they knew what he'd do with it. LOL later kate snarks at tony about coming from money and he starts yelling at her. she immediately apologizes and says she really didn't mean anything - and tony acts like it was all a joke. personally, i felt he was upset but then when she apologized he didn't want to blow his cover as 'mr. cool/mr. goofball' and so made it into a joke. i also think kate doesn't really mean to be as snarky as she comes across. i thought the plot was well done also. there's been a lot of talk about the plots being lame lately - but i don't see it. which means either i am even dumber than i thought or others who watch this show are just exceptionally bright. ;D anyone else watch this ep? and if you can tell me about the 'scenes from next week's show' i will be eternally gratefully. as soon as the show was over my neighbor switched channels to the pacers game. The reason why I believed that it was the author/private investigator was because, I thought that the guy was more interested than I think he should've been normally and he came across like one of those guys who wants to get rich quick which made him look suspicious to me as well as when he was found at the scene by Tony and Gibbs when they were searching the house. I didn't like the fact that after Kate saw the marine's brother that she wrote him off as a suspect with no real, concerete, evidence to do so and the interaction between the marine's brother and Kate reminded me of the interaction between Kate and Ari. I thought that the bet that Tony had with McGee about Kate saying the "Wife" and pretending to be Tony's "Wife" because of Tony's ex-girlfriend was classic Tony, because, he loves to do just about anything to get on Kate's nerves and that Tony got pleasure out of that entire situation and that he knew that Kate would fall for the bait.
I liked the "Cops" reference/ banter between Tony and Abby and I thought that it was funny when Abby pulled out that dead fish from the car. I think that given what we know of Kate personally so far ie, her brothers and her work ethic that I wasn't real surprised to find out that her family didn't have much money growing up and I think that there is a bit of mysteriousness there in Tony's character when he says that he came from money and that he jokingly says that he misses it every day, I thought that there was more to it than that.
I also think that it was interesting that Ducky introduced Gibbs to one of his ex-wives and how the ex-wife doesn't talk to Ducky anymore, I again thought that there was more to it than that and the same goes for Gibbs knowing Abby's parents. I also noticed the concern that Gibbs showed for Kate after her date, it came across as simple and not over-the-top and I think that it shows a more caring, softer, side of Gibbs I also liked the look on McGee's face after he realized who the killer was and I thought that it was interesting that he's writing a book about Gibbs. I also liked the interaction between Abby and Kate, because, it's something that we haven't seen much of so far on the show.

I don't care if they're meant to be creative. Those black and white shots are annoying and a waste of screen time. Loved the whole scene in the garage. Of course Abby would want those films released on DVD The Anna Nicole comments cracked me up. Especially with the antics she's getting up to these days. What's with Kate flirting with suspects. First it was the priest in season one, now it's the victim's brother in season two. I would have arrested Cooper much earlier on in the piece just for being annoying. I'm surprised that Gibbs didn't try to shoot him. Loved the makeover that Tony did on Kate. Was surprised that she let him do that to her in the first place Loved

Kate also flirted with Ari and I think that a problem with her character is that Kate has the tendency to believe that a suspect is innoccent without having concrete evidence to do so.
