Hello all, As many of you know the Hollywood Reporter ad is ready to go. Once we raise the rest of the money it will be printed in the HR. Since that will be in the near future, we are currently thinking of ways to publicize the ad. And I mean major publicizing on the web as well as in the print media. If you are a writer or PR person or if you are just a creative and hard working individual we need your help in coming up with media outlets and how to get their attention. We want maximum exposure for our ad. If you have any ideas please post them hear.

What we need to do is an organized effort - when we have the date the ad is to be published we can write up a formal Press Release. (I have the format.) Then we make sure to send it to each media outlet.
We can do individual emails as well to back up the PR.
What would be great is if we have anyone who works in Public Relations who wants to help write the actual press release.

Space View - the best sci fi magazine for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Space-View@heel-verlag.de Star, if you could send them your network exec guide for dummies, too, it would be great. They will be bringing a double interview in their next issue (08.28.02) so it might actually be on topic.

Thanks for the addresses everyone - keep them coming. We will definitely send out a press release to all of them when we know the ad date.
Scrita - feel free to send the "Network Execs's Guide " if you want - isn't it a German magazine? Might be better if you sent it with a cover letter in German.

Hi all, I made a PR page to help people out ;D membres.lycos.fr/jeiara/press.releaseWhat we need to do is compile a large contact list from people in the televison and/or entertainment industries (or anybody who you think might be interested). 1. Find the contact info for editors/journalists 2. Find out their deadlines, these are very busy people. 3. Find out how they would like the press release sent to them; do they want it by mail, fax, or email? 4. Hope they take an interest. If they have questions they'll contact you. Don't bother with follow-ups since most get annoyed. Or only call if you want to remind them of the approaching date of the release if you sent it far in advance. 5. check out my website, you'll learn a lot from reading Also if you guys have extra money left over after the ad is payed for, you can hire a press release distribution company that'll send out your press release for you. Good luck everyone! ~Jeiara a DA fan

Don't be surprisedif you get a PM or email from me. Glad I could help. <<EDIT>>I added a new link to the page: Expanding Your Reach: A Public Relations Seminar for Non-ProfitsHere's an excerpt from the above site on finding contacts: "How to Find Contacts and Pitch Them
- Don't Be Afraid to Ask for a Contact. You may be asking how you should know who to pitch on a story because you don't find contacts listed in Bacon's or other media resources. There are a few ways to get names. Many online media list staff on their site, but it is not always easy to find. Some have pitch e-mail addresses, such as newsdesk@e-mail addresses, and though this is not as personnel, we have had success with them. But the best way to get in contact with the editor or writer you need to talk to is still to get on the phone and ask someone. We find online media prefer e-mails, but sometimes the phone is the best people locator."

Hey! I'm back (you probably didnt know i was gone but that's ok) from Maryland and I'm going to get started on the publicity thing right away. There should definitely be a link to all of these addresses on the site, and I'll email desirae (the girl who got over 6,000 dark angel emails) so she can send them out to those addresses. I'll also start informing people about the ad! Hope that helps!

Yes it does help - thanks stargurl !! ;D ;D
I think if you check each thread you will find more addresses. It's gotten a bit confusing. We have a ton of great addresses now - but we need them all organized and listed in one place.
That way when the ad is ready to go, and we have the Press Release written up we can just send them all at once and make sure we don't miss anyone.

Great! We should probably start collecting all the addresses and filing them somewhere! MLfan can definitely help us there, she's been getting tons and tons of adresses, perhaps she could help us file them!
