I'm starting this one out with a question. Even though to have ever seen it might have been too contrary to the tone of a show called Dark Angel, I wonder what it is that would make Max laugh hysterically? We never did see anything of her being like that and the show's humor always seemed to be directed towards the audience.

Interesting question. Max was such a cynic, and seemed not to have too much joy. However, she did have fun with O.C. esp. when Cindy was doing her nails, and telling Max how men worked !

I have to agree with Ginny - it would have to be something with OC, maybe at CRASH.

I think if Sketchy, Normal, or alec humiliated themselves in some really spectacular way -- and if Cindy was there to comment on it -- Max might crack up.

Hometown brought up something very interesting when he opened this thread. I'm going to look carefully for joyful laughing from Max in both season eps. Joyful anything would be nice. She looked pretty happy when she and Logan were kissing in Meow, but not LOL joyful.

Yeah, she did laugh at Sven. And her little "dream" sequence in AJBAC she looked pretty happy, but who wouldn't?

Hmm...I think it would have to be something with OC or her friends at Jam Pony.
I definitely think she would laugh if she met up with her brothers and sisters and they were just having a good time together, talking about where they had been for the last couple of years, etc. If one of them said something funny or w/e. Max looked kinda happy when she was talking to Tinga about it.

Maybe Max and Logan had a good laugh after they left the "boxing match" in Fuggaduhboudit. They were both feeling good, Mia had given them some hope, and they were teasing each other about how Mia had described each of them.
Yeah, I'm sure they were happy and laughing that evening. We just never got to see it.

I'm trying to reconcile something that feels or seems to me like it should have been a difficult thing for Max when she was young and back at Manticore. We presume to know that the reasons that she and her siblings chose to escape in '09 were due to the harsh conditions and treatment of trying to condition them to be soldiers. Yet in the second season during BE, Max had the flashback of her younger self being cared for by the figure that represented Sandeman. (Acting in fact much like Joshua described him as Father) So for her it must have been a struggle, at such an age to decide to leave behind this one person who had shown her the only thing she would have known that could have been close to a 'parental' kind of love.

If I remember correctly from what Joshua told us in TWO, "Father" left and didn't come back. We were left to imagine what happened to "Father". Apparently he was "up to something" that someone else didn't like and he had to escape or disappear.
