Not a Kate fan myself, but still my condolences to those on this board that are. From all accounts I would say they're taking this episode pretty badly.

This sucks , the Gilmore Girls is going to rereuns and I'd decided to start watching NCIS because the one thing I could depend on in the few episodes I have seen, was the witty banter/flirting/whatever you want to call it between Kate and Tony. And now this? ON the plus side I really liked the techie/lab girl lying down next to Tony while they were talking ;D ;D. I don't know why but I just thought it cool/funny/sweet .

Okay you guys. I've had to change the title to SPOILERS because you gave it away.
dzero, if you do start watching NCIS you will notice the misogyny, military propaganda and neo-conservative crap. Tony, Kate and Abby saved the show for me. I ignored the crap. Okay, I tried to ignore it.

The techie/lab girl is Abby. I've always enjoyed the scenes with Tony and Abby together, that was a comical scene tonight in a more serious, dramatic episode.

I'm not giving anything away here as I'm sure it will be in the show biz news tomorrow. Sasha Alexander wanted out of NCIS. Too many long hours for her. DPB is famous for micro managing all his staff and rewriting, retaping and all that stuff which adds to long hours. Good for her. But gee, how could any female not want to spend all those hours with Michael Weatherly.

I was going to ask this, it just makes more sense than the producer guy thinking it was a good plotline.

I have to agree with dzero because more often than not when a main character dies on a show that's only been a few years and in such a seemingly final way, usually it comes to light that the person wanted to leave.

Are we done talking about Kate yet? (BTW I totally thought I was more attached to her character than I actually was). Because I just wanted to say beside from the last like two seconds of this show, I really liked this episode. My attention had been kinda waning for a few episodes before SWAK, but I really liked the start of this show (though I did want to be like Abby and launch myself at Tony when Kate was being mean) and I also really like seeing Michael run with a gun (I don’t really know why, just makes me happy). The show had a great amount of humor throughout, it was like the perfect amount for me. I also liked how Tony was willing to risk sacrificing himself for Kate and McGee (after all he did just have the plague and probably isn’t as fast as he normally is).
I also like how Kate died (I was thinking about this before I went to bed last night and after reading the NCIS board). Kate died how people die, without warning, without goodbyes. For all the faults this show may have, it was a decent death (I’m aware that sounds wrong).
And hey English Rose is probably going to be getting her wish granted for Season 3, this should make for a more serious Tony. Though I think I speak for all of us who wanted less K/T banter, we didn’t mean none at all.

Here's the USA Today article that's been refered to. Caitlin 'Kate' Todd NCIS (CBS) Character: Naval crime investigator Actor: Sasha Alexander When Kate died: Tuesday's finale Cause of death: A terrorist from a continuing story line was after NCIS team leader Leroy Gibbs (Mark Harmon); Kate took the bullet — causing tremendous emotional pain for Gibbs and creating new dramatic opportunities for next season. Why? Creator Donald Bellisario says that Alexander asked out of the physically demanding show, that she decided she didn't want to stay for what will likely be a run of many seasons. "She worked like a trouper to the very end," says Bellisario, who is casting for a foreign-born female character. Here's the link, www.usatoday.com/life/television/news/2005-05-24-tv-obits_x.htm

Quite right Mia22. Considering every bite the bullet poll I've seen had more votes for McGee going, I think everyone is a little disappointed that it was Kate. Even me, and I've never liked the character of Kate. I also asked for naked Tony Hope I get that wish too.

This is from dottieb at NCIS Special Ops. It seemed useful to have a thread for quotes and info from Don and the others at Belisarius Productions.
I'll start this with a quote from HarrietNCIS, the fan liaison at Beli-Pro. She told the NCIS-CBS list that Don said, "You might tell the fans that there was an alternate ending. The script ended with Sasha getting up and being okay. The edit everyone saw at TV guide and other media ended that way. Only at the last minute did I put the rest of the scene where Sasha is killed and ship it to the network. It was a closely guarded secret that paid off. It didn't leak."

The episode started badly with Kate being her season one bitchy self.
Bring back Gerald. Palmer is just stupid.
I would have left the snake on Kate and let McGee blow himself up after the attitude they were coping with a still sick Tony.
Loved Gibbs' gruff concern while still keeping Tony in his place.
Loved Abby hugging Tony. The farting toy was hysterical. It was sweet the way Abby lay down beside Tony.
Good to see Director Morrow again.
At least Fornell tried to warn Gibbs. He showed his friendship with Gibbs was genuine. And the fact that his married Gibbs' second wife does show lack in judgement though. Wife number two was the one who hit Gibbs in the head with a nine iron.
Ari's cat and mouse game is getting old. The meeting with Gibbs was just another part of his game. Gibbs' concern for his team is similar to that of a parent, which is why I think Kate was always Ari's target but not Al Quedas. She was Ari's weakness as well as one of Gibbs.
I'd love to hear more about Abby's dream with Tony and the zoo. The mention of Bete Noire was a hint that it was Kate that was going to die.
Tony thinking about possible targets despite being ill shows why Gibbs keeps him around.
The shock that both Tony and Gibbs were feeling was obvious. The 'I can't believe that just happened' look on Tony's face and the 'I should've seen that coming' look on Gibbs. Can't wait to see what happens next season. One thing's for certain, Ari's a dead man walking.

Ahhhh. Thanks for that. Did you pick up any of the other 'so called clues' from SWAK and Twilight?

Abby's dream was a hint but not a clear one until Kate was killed. The biggest hint was when Ari asked after Kate.

What about in SWAK? There was supposed to be little clues scattered throughout that ep? They all bypassed me I'm afraid!
