As we move into Christmas Eve and Christmas day around the globe, may everyone have a wonderful, safe and peaceful Christmas and holiday season, no matter how or what you may celebrate ... Let's all hope for a healthier, happier and safer planet for 2010. I am ever grateful for this snug little home at DAR, with our 'family' here extending across many time zones, countries and languages. Let's all try to keep the spark alive ... Merry, merry Christmas, everyone!

I've never had nog. Is it nice - or is it something people endure for the sake of the season?

I've never had nog. Is it nice - or is it something people endure for the sake of the season? Oh, I LOVE eggnog! Lucky for me it's seasonal or I'd be as round as Cartman just on eggnog, let alone all the lovely marzipan and other chocolate delights that some generous soul sent for Christmas! ;D I assume home-made is better, but you can just go to the liquor store and buy it pre-made, in varying intensities. My first experience with the bottled stuff was on an empty stomach, throwing a Christmas open house for my hubby's new colleagues. I woke up about half-way through the evening and about half-way through a conversation with someone I didn't know, who was talking quite animatedly about some comment I'd just made (must have been what woke me up.) I was told I seemed pretty lucid and perky all night, but to this day the whole party (except that moment) is a solid blank. (I'm a lightweight but not totally inexperienced ... but that Mack truck hit me when I had no idea what was coming!) So, yeah ... love the stuff! ;D

Never had it either, just egg-liquor (as in Advocaat or Verporten), but hey did you ever have egg-liquor cake? Has it in the dough, the cream and as the icing. A classic in bakeries and home-made, bet it would work with eggnog too... ;D
