‘An Amazing Shock’ in ‘NCIS’ Season Premiere by Tracy Phillips Sep 21st, 2009 | 7:07 AM19 19 “Do Not Miss the First Minute!” You’ve been warned, ‘NCIS‘ fans! Tuesday’s season premiere features “an amazing shock,” executive producer Shane Brennan tells me. And yes, Tony-Ziva fans, this pertains to you rabid lot. “Tony and Ziva fans are going to be blown away by the first episode,” says Brennan. “It’s not what they expect. We do this really well on ‘NCIS.’ We say, this is what it’s about, and everyone says I know what’s gonna happen, and then we just do this thing out of left field. The first episode…everyone needs to watch the first minute.” “Right at the very top in the first minute they’re gonna get an amazing shock and they’re gonna go, ‘Okay…what the hell is happening?’ And they’re going to see….well, everyone who has been involved in this episode thinks it’s probably one of the best episodes out of the 140 we’ve done.” Should we believe the hype? “I don’t tease,” says Brennan. “It’s very powerful.” “There are some very powerful episodes in the first half dozen. Is anyone in jeopardy? I won’t rule out that at some point in the future we may lose another character. I don’t expect it to happen this season, though.” The season premiere of ‘NCIS’ airs Tuesday at 8 p.m., followed by the debut of ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ at 9 p.m. on CBS. www.fancast.com/blogs/tv-news/an-amazing-shock-in-ncis-season-premiere/

Meh, not if you've watched the ads. BUT I gotta hand it to them, even for those of us obsessed types who watched every teaser and read every spoiler, they had some tidbits and surprises for us too. LOTS & LOTS of good stuff... and okay, a few things where you might need to suspend belief for a few moments, but what else is new... Another reason to hand it to them -- it's got to be a very tough tightrope to walk, between the pro- and anti- TIVA factions, but if this first ep is any indication, they just might do it. I give it an official "WOOT!"

NCIS stars: Our reel-life romance Oct 16 10:11am Nail-biting plots and electric chemistry between the stars have made NCIS the most watched US drama on Australian TV. Last season viewers were hooked by the fiery relationship between Special Agent Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and Mossad officer Ziva David (Cote de Pablo). In this New Idea exclusive, the two stars talk about the new season, their real-life love lives and what really goes on behind the scenes. You ended on an incredible cliffhanger last season – what’s in store for us now? Cote: I almost got killed, and now in the new season there’s going to be lots of surprises for the audience. Ziva felt very betrayed by DiNozzo and now she’ll discover which people really care for her. Sorry, I’m not allowed to say any more! Michael: I thought Ziva and Tony took their misunderstanding to a whole new level and proved that two people couldn’t be more ill-matched. Cote, is it hard to go back to being friends with Michael after acting like you hate him at work? Cote: We have worked together for four years and we have plenty of issues so sometimes that friction is real! But, honestly, what’s hard is not getting distracted looking at his adorable face. These are the roles of a lifetime – how did you end up getting the parts? Michael: I was in Sydney filming a movie when my agent called and told me Don Bellisario had created this amazing new show and he was staying at the Hyatt. So I called the hotel and they put me through to him and I talked him into having dinner with me. We talked for hours and the next day my agent called back to say: ‘What did you do? You got the part!’ Cote: I was in Central Park about to open a Broadway show and I got a call to say I had an audition reading with the whole cast and crew, and I had to be at the airport in an hour. NCIS must be quite physically and emotionally demanding. How do you both relax off-set? Cote: A bubble bath, a foot massage, a glass of wine, a little lovin’, and then off to sleep… that’s perfection! Michael: It’s changed over the years. When I first got the part I’d drink a bottle of wine and wander around Main Street [Los Angeles] at 2am. I called it Moon Base Alpha. But I got married last month and now I have a great wife! Congratulations, Michael! What can you tell us about the lucky lady? Michael: She’s a very private person so I can’t tell you much, but she’s a doctor and she has a big, beautiful heart and a smile that is even bigger, so I’m very lucky. As long as I’m on this earth I want to spend time with her. What does she make of your star status? Michael: She wouldn’t know who Hugh Jackman is! That’s not her world. She doesn’t really know Tony and when she came to the set one day she was a bit confused by my behaviour because I tend to stay in character all the time. Cote, what about your boyfriend, Diego? Cote: Diego is amazing – he really gets me, and he’s funny, so he’s perfect! COTE DE PABLO'S DIET SECRETS Cote de Pablo’s sultry and exotic good looks make her one of TV’s sexiest stars, but she admits that it takes a lot of sweat and willpower to look good, no matter who you are. Here, she reveals her secrets. What motivates you to work out? I love wearing short dresses and I can only do that if I feel like my legs look good in them! I work hard to look as good as I can and any Hollywood actress who says that she doesn’t exercise and it is all genetics is lying... they all do something. What kind of exercise works best for getting a sexy Hollywood star body? I love yoga because it’s a full-body workout and it’s also good for me to have some peace and quiet and to meditate. To get my legs and bum in shape, I love the BOSU ball. It’s great for your core too, and all the ladies out there should know: the core is the key! Can you talk us through a typical day’s meal plan? Breakfast is usually a big bowl of fruit and wholemeal toast with avocado mashed on top. For lunch I’ll have a chicken salad, and I’ve got to have an avocado in there because I’m an avo freak! For dinner I’ll have fish or chicken. And I don’t eat after 7pm – that’s when bad foods are more tempting! thanks to Socityjim over at www.cbs.com/forums/posts/list/91531.page

I really am starting to get confused by MW's stance on Tiva. It seems he's changed his tune and is quite strongly against it. It really doesn't make sense unless he's just sick of talking about it.

I really am starting to get confused by MW's stance on Tiva. It seems he's changed his tune and is quite strongly against it. It really doesn't make sense unless he's just sick of talking about it. Hasn't he always been fairly flip and silly about his answers to future-plot-related questions? I can't say that I read or see all the interviews he does, but it seems that's his frequent response to the questions he can't answer, either because he's sworn to secrecy or it's something that, if it's even decided, they haven't let him in on yet. It also prevents a bunch of follow up plot questions about the things he does know. (and as much as SB does all the dangling teasers, they can't want their actors blabbing what's coming next -- they seem to let out only so much, twist the teasers to mean something else, all the games they play with how much they release when they do... : I think I've read more than once that he's interested in sticking around in the show as long as they'll have him -- so I suspect he'll do whatever they want for Tiva. Makes me think of something sort of related -- I've never gotten the idea that any of them were particularly pushy about what the writers do with their characters or the show in general (other than Harmon, maybe, but that's a different situation). I get the sense that they they add to their characters via line readings and all, but they aren't demanding about what a character would or wouldn't do, etc -- have I missed something, have they just hidden it from us, or are they really a more contented crop of actors than usual?

I've noticed MW being less enthusiastic to discuss the Tiva issue for a while now. In the pre season interview the cast had on ET, Cote was all over MW and the subject of Tiva and he almost seemed to be backing away. He wasn't his usual overly amorous, teasing self. Even in interviews towards the end of last season, I felt he kept wanting to play down the Tiva hype.
