Last year when I was flying to New York several passengers got into a conversation about movies they couldn't do without. A lot of us joined in. One pompous guy started named foreign movies that have all been nominated for awards, blah, blah, blah. He probably thought he could impress us. ;D All the others started naming movies they absolutely loved and critics probably hated. It was fun when someone named The Princess Bride and we all said, "Oh, love that movie" or "What a fun movie." We all got out pencil and paper and started making lists. ;D The time zoomed by. If you knew you were going to an Island with electricity, but no internet, no TV or Netflex or Blockbuster, what movies would you take with you. You would be there for one year. For example - I really liked The Departed but would leave it behind. Heck, I don't even have the DVD. It's not a film I would watch over and over. Hmmmmm, I gotta make a list. Two I would take are: Eight BelowMaya, Jack, Max, Shorty, Truman, Dewey, Shadow, Buck I'm a sucker for a good dog movie and this is times eight. The Red ViolinThis is a twofer - I would get the fascinating story and the music by my favorite violinist.

the Bourne trilogy Fight Club Kiss Kiss Bang Bang In Bruges Dr. Strangelove Rounders Superbad V for Vendetta LA Confidential Transformers. This is such a guy list. the Bourne trilogy is so good but I wouldn't take it with me. Too frantic. I'd be climbing coconut trees. Oh - Do you mean the Rounders with Glenn Ford. He was my first crush when I was a little tot. He is special. I can't remember the movie that well, is it on DVD. LA Confidential would come along with me. I love that movie so much. All the characters were so good but Bud White played by Russell Crow was perfect. And I don't even like Russell Crowe that much, although he stole 3:10 to Yuma. I can't even remember the other guy. He stole Gladiator from Joaquin Phoenix, one of my favorites. (until that Johnny Cash debacle) Whatever you want. We're not big on rules here except dissing JMA or MW. I changed the title so we could include TV DVDs. If we're including DVDs for TV I would have to include Sports Night.

I mean the Edward Norton/Matt Damon Rounders. Good movie but the poker strategy in it is pretty bad IMO.

Mr.ClarkNever heard of it and I thought I knew every Matt Damon movie. Most Ed Norton films are not fun and a tad depressing. After I've finished my popcorn and Milkduds I'm usually looking for laughs or a good Sci Fi ending. dzerodzero knows of which he speaks. Before he became Mr. TV he was Mr. Poker.

Edward Norton's Worm reminds me so much of one of my best friends from high school as well. Extremely smart but he just didn't know when he was onto a bad idea.

My desert island has to have: DA S1 DA S2 (as long as my island DVD player has fast forwarding capabilities) A few random NCIS eps (plot less important than face time for MW ;D) If Aerie's on the next island I'll borrow her Sport's NightAnd the classics:The first 5 Marx Brothers Movies ( Coconuts, Animal Crackers, Horse Feathers, Monkey Business & Duck Soup) plus A Day at the RacesCasablanca Philadephia Story (the original! No Sinatra remake ) His Girl Friday (Cary Grant, of course!) ... and whatever next 3 or 4 that I'm suddenly craving at the moment I'm packing -- those change frequently ... Somebody has to bring the classics:

In my defense I do have a few non-violent films on my fave movies list. Three golden oldies (well they're golden to me): The Court Jester (Danny Kaye), Artists and Models (Martin & Lewis), Singing in the Rain.
I think I need to add T1, T2 and Aliens to my must have list.

I think I need to add T1, T2 and Aliens to my must have list. This was posted 24 hrs ago and yet Aerie has not yet commented on how Linda Hamilton's physique in T2 bothered her so much she couldn't enjoy the movie. Very Strange .

I recently posted my DVD collection in one of the other DVD threads. Now you might have noticed that the collection is a little light on Jessica's recent DVD releases. I recently ordered Meet Bill but for some of the other ones that have been out a while I decided to go by Blockbuster and see if I could pick them up used ( as in cheap ) I don't think I've even been in a blockbuster in 2 years or more but I always see a sign saying "used DVDs 4 for $20" so I hoped they would have some of Jessica's newer DVDs. First thing I see once inside was a sign saying "used DVDs 2 for $20" . OK whatever so I am lucky and they have what I am looking for and I get the EYE and Good Luck Chuck a movie I really did enjoy. So I go up to the check out counter and the clerk asks me don't I want to get the full deal? which is 3 used DVDs for $20 so I go back and can't find the last JA DVD I was looking for AWAKE . So I can't make up my mind because I really only came in for some JA DVDs and I finally get 3:10 to Yuma which is excellent. Back up at the counter the female clerk asks me if I am a Jessica Alba fan? ugh... YES! and she mentions that she thought Jessica looked best in Idle Hands and of course my mind goes instantly to those scenes of Jessica in lingerie and I agree with the clerk that she did look great in that movie. Then the clerk tells me that she used to work in a different nearby blockbuster store and that Jessica's parents used to go there and they would get all excited whenever they would see Jessica featured in any of the movie magazines.
