Old thread is getting pretty full so here is a new one. There are a ton of shows that I watch that are just starting their summer runs. Burn Notice S2 premiered last night recorded it but haven't watched yetMonk and much more importantly Psych return next week. Saw a commercial for the new season of Psych a and Cybill Shepard will be playing Sean's mother. not sure if it's a one time thing or if she is joining the cast At the end of July Mad Men is coming back. Probably looking forward to this the most. And in the guilty pleasure department I have been watching My Life on the D-List and Flipping Out I know I know, reality tv

The lead actor in Burn Notice looks very interesting. I might check him out. Do you recommend this show, dzero?

With all due deference and laud to Mr. TV, he's left out the most important return this month, Eureka ;D We've been watching all the S1 & S2 shows again for the past serveral weeks to be ready for when they pick up with S3 at the end of the month. Both Hubby & I are hooked! Monk and much more importantly Psych return next week. Saw a commercial for the new season of Psych a and Cybill Shepard will be playing Sean's mother. not sure if it's a one time thing or if she is joining the cast Yay! I missed much of last year's shows; I was either busy or when I watched, I was afraid they were losing steam a little-- still great & funny but sort of the same every week. Still, it's all worth the ad I saw run several times during NCIS' marathon, with Sean & Gus doing the "Ebony & Ivory" vid -- that sort of "we're almost doing this as a straight copy of the original but smirking along with you 'cos we know you'll think we're cute and that cracks us up." They seem to be having so much fun it's unavoidably contagious! Burn Notice S2 premiered last night recorded it but haven't watched yet Haven't seen it yet, but who's the older guy in the Magnum shirts in the recent ads? He's got me intrigued, he's so funny -- first time I really thought I might make time to watch. I had no desire to watch it because I didn't like the main actor when he was the astronaut on Monk, for some reason (and if it's not the same actor, I had no deire to watch because he reminded me so much of the actor who was the astronaut on Monk )

With all due deference and laud to Mr. TV, he's left out the most important return this month, Eureka ;D I knew you would be posting about it . Knowing how USA schedules their shows I would bet they have a marathon of Psych eps on Thursday or Friday leading up to the season premiere. That's Bruce Cambell and yes he is funny on the show. Loves his alcohol like Wimpy loves his hamburgers. ;D Cambell has been in a bunch of movies and TV shows and has a bit of a cult following. His French waiter was probably the best thing in Spiderman 3 Yeah that's the same guy. So you didn't like him because you thought he was a bad actor? or he did a good job and you just didn't like his villainous character?

I knew you would be posting about it . I can't remember; am I the only one here watching Eureka? It's a great show! ;D ...uh... yes? Maybe a little of both, but it's rare that someone's character affects me that way without making me aware that they're doing their job. As with the character Adam Arkin played on Monk -- he was gross and thoroughly detestable, but I was really aware that it was because Arkin was playing him that way (possibly aided immensely because I'd seen in in a number of other things and had liked him as an actor, maybe?) Somehow either the way the guy looks or presented himself, moment to moment, bugged me, like he was awkward but trying to cover by being all badass. Dunno, but ... ugh. The show looks as if it could be cool, but he's just a clinker for me...

This board is mostly female so this might not go over all that well.
For anyone that gets HBO, I Highly recommend tuning in for the first episode of Generation Kill which airs tonight at 9pmEST. I've read the book this is based on 2 or 3 times and it is without question the best perspective on the war in Iraq I've yet seen. The book was written by a columnist for Rolling Stone who was embedded with the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division during the initial phases of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Its a fascinating look at the way the invasion was fought as well as how the Nintendo generation deals with combat. It was adapted into a mini-series by the creators of the Wire (greatest show in TV history!) who are the best in the business when it comes to getting the story right. This isn't Over There or Stop Loss or any of that this isn't a writer giving a slanted view of the war and trying to make it mean something, its not about agendas. This is the story of the men ordered into the hornets nest's time and again. I'm expecting this to be something truly great.

And by greatest TV show in history you meant the Sopranos? right? I am probably going to wait until a a few episodes of Generation Kill air before watching that way I can do a marathon kind of thingy with what's available 'on demand'. That's what I usually do with HBO shows. And come on man ;D the women here like an ass kicking show like DA I'm sure they can handle a little blood and guts.

Maybe a little of both, but it's rare that someone's character affects me that way without making me aware that they're doing their job. LOL he seems to have made more of an impression with you from one episode of Monk than he did with me from a whole Season of Burn Notice. ;D

Hmm, which is it? Jedi mind tricks ...? brain like a sieve...? Jedi mind tricks ...? brain like a sieve... ? yeah, that's it! I must be so good at the jedi stuff even I even confuse myself! probably helps that USA ran that damn ep about 20 times after it first aired -- oddly enough, it seemed to appear every time I had some time to kill & wanted to see some escapist fun... PS: and speaking of astronauts... watch Eureka, returning Tues, July 29 on Sci Fi... ;D

Ooooh, interesting I watched a couple of episodes but just couldn't couldn't get into the show. There's something about the lead actor that erks me. I think it's that 'I'm supposed' to think he's sexy but I just don't. He's too try hard or obvious or something I dunno. I loved the character that Adam Arkin played in Northern Exposure. Such a fascinating, opinionated know it all!

And by greatest TV show in history you meant the Sopranos? right? phhhh Sopranos was WAY overrated IMO. And come on man ;D the women here like an ass kicking show like DA I'm sure they can handle a little blood and guts. Just because a woman likes a action/sci-fi show staring 2 very beautiful people doesnt mean they'll necessarily like The Big Red One or A Bridge to Far or anything like that.
