Some helpful sites, for those of you who care (subtitled, “I’m not the only one on about it all”): How to Write Almost Readable FanFiction: littlecalamity.tripod.com/HowTo2.html Lots of good info from a former English teacher, with a handful of missed errors of her own to prove she too is human. Full of good stuff. (Author calls herself “Mrs. Nitpicker.” Ah, a soulmate…) Tigger’s Guide to Writing Good Fanfic: home.earthlink.net/~tptigger42/rules.html Brief, to the point, and clear. Helpful suggestions. Fanfic Writing Advice From Fanfic Writers: scifi.about.com/library/weekly/aa061901.htm SciFi geared, but lots of interesting advice from a number of writers, both for beginners and experienced writers. …and if those aren’t enough, just Google “fanfiction writing”’ and you’re off to the races!

BETA WANTED!
Hi. I have a fic ready to go, but I wanted to have somebody look over it before I post it for the mean world to see. It's not long, and I don't really need anybody to correct my spelling (though if you see an error, please point it out). I mostly need somebody to monitor my word choice and to tell me if I'm being true to the characters. I will e-mail it to anybody who wants the job. Thanks so much!

Calling all geeks!I found a fantastic site for all of you writers & betas, if you napped during all those grammar drills in school and want a very fast, very user friendly place to check those pesky questions about grammar & punctuation: It's the "Grammar Slammer" at tinyurl.com/lw7t9Believe me, I had been looking for a quick-check site and was really getting frustrated (I figure if I'm going to beta and tell someone they needed changes, I'd better be able to tell people why other than just "it sounds better." Poor Mari, the trials of having a native user trying to explain usage!) This has a great index, with great, brief "rules" and clear examples. Way easier & user friendly than my old standby, Strunk & White!

This sector map was made back in the day by our member L-Squared. I'm sure someone remembers what sector Max lived in and where JamPony was. I don't recall that we ever knew where Bling lived.

The fine print seems to remember Max living in Sector 5 (see upper right corner. ) 'fraid that's the best I can do.

I'm *almost* positive Jam Pony was in the downtown area, sector 9. First: Thanks for your answer. I really don't want to start an argument.... (what I say :And I don't even remember if I read (fanfiction) that or if I listened (TV show) that, but sector 9 has always seemed to be far away from Jam Pony. I think I remember Max taking package for this sector (9) because it was Logan's place and received some comments about the big distances to reach it... That means I will have to listen the TV Show again! Maybe the best episode to find it is when they scanned all sectors to find her by her implant's signal. Thanks for the map, Aerie that will help me!
Thanks to drive my attention on the right-upper corner of the map, Shywriter! (I always missed this kind of details)

I just found this DARK ANGEL #205 - "Boo" MAX: Where? SALLY: Some place in Sector Nine. MAX (annoyed): Can you be a little more specific? SALLY: I can't remember the name. Jam Clydesdale? Clam Pony? MAX: Jam Pony? SALLY: Yeah. That's the one. So sorry to argue all the time... Thank you! EDITED TO ADD: I will join Lisa to pat her back too!

I did say *almost* My problem might be that I spend too much time in Seattle... and, Yes, I know they weren't really in Seattle but if we don't pretent, what's the point?Based on street names and distances and things like that, my money is still on Sector 9, although if you find something I missed I would be very interested to hear about it. edited to say I just saw the last post...off to pat myself on the back and remind myself how very clever I am... ;D

I just found it, sector map I've posted the map for you intstebri. If anyone wants to keep it - copy it quick. The creator, and I don't mean that in the biblical sense, will probably ask for it to be removed. edited by Aerie

Hey! FFNet has now added a beta-reader section, listing those who are willing to serve as reader/editors for those looking for help. A bio and a description of services offered are posted for each reader, and betas can register either as general genre (such as "all TV shows") or show-specific (listing those shows for which they will beta. Nice touch: FFN shows you which the beta has actually written for in the list of shows they're willing to beta.) So far, 8 beta readers for DA, but most haven't actually written any DA. Still... it's a start! Check it out! ~S~ (trudging on, undaunted... )
