Well, I'll ask tomorow at my work and if I can't find out how to do them then I'm afraid I'm done with making videos...I had to change my video card to be able to play the Star Wars Battlefront game on my PC (Still need a better card) cause I just joined a league/clan and will be starting online play very soon. None of the video making programs will run the 160GB of video clips I have that I use for my videos without the right codec I did them in...So without it, I'm screwed Maybe someone at my work at CompUSA will be able to help me...otherwise, it's been fun people!!!

Sorry if this sounds dumb, but you have unhidden those system or system32 folders? On XP they would probably be hidden by default.

When I've downloaded Codecs I just put it in My Documents folder and link back from Media Player.

I'm just scratching my head silly...I know I've done it before somehow...Yep, I have it set to show hidden folders and files. You really put them in your documents folder english_rose? I don't know, I think the codecs are so old that the site doesn't have them available anymore or something..The media player says it's downloading the codec then it says "Error downloading codec" and never does it. I work at a CompUSA so I'm pretty sure someone in our tech dept could give me a tip tomorrow

Yeah, I put them in my documents folder. I find it easier to remember where I put it when I go into Tools and then Plug ins and then add the codec from where I downloaded it to

I have one more dumb question/comment, are you sure the folders your looking for are system or system 32? Aren't those folders called something different in XP? I know it would be helpfull if I knew what it they were called? but I don't run XP. I'm still on ME . System32 especially sounds wrong cause 32 refers to 32 bit and XP uses NTFS correct? See this is why I quite computer repair . I can tell something is wrong but I never know/knew the answer .

Yay!!!! Happy days are here again my friends!! ;D I feel like a idiot!!! The codecs go into your System folder in Win XP but the key is, they have to be the SAME codec you recorded them with...they have to be the one from that exact system that you used. In other words, I had to go and get them off my old PC I was trying to use the video codecs I had downloaded, yes they were the same name and same codec but I didn't use those...I used the ones off my other system....So that's where I had to get them and I stuck them in and bam!!! I see video clips Still trying to decide what to do for a video card for the Battlefront game though That's another matter though so I guess I'll try and work on a video tonight Thanks for all the help that was givin!!

I'm glad that your computer issue was fixed and that you are able to work on music videos again.

For some reason my Windows Movie Maker files that I had intended for future music videos has disappeared along with all of my clips, when before the files and clips were as I had left them, but, now they are gone all of the sudden. Any help is welcome, thanks in advance.

Any help is welcome, thanks in advance. I'm late looking at this and you've probably resolved the problems by now - but if you know the name of the folder you can go to START --> SEARCH --> ALL FILES AND FOLDERS --> Type in the name of the folder. If it appears you can RIGHT CLICK --> Send to desktop Viola - it will be there. Maybe. And I have a question. Why aren't you popping these valuable pictures onto a CD or ZIP or PORTABLE STORAGE DEVICE ? I use all three. If you don't have a portable storage device ask for one for Christmas. For less than $50 you can get a travel drive, 250mgs, 2 1/2 inches long or a 50mg for $20 bucks. I am so anal retentive I never back up my computer, I keep everything on some type of storage.
