Blame Mr. Clark & Aerie for this: their debate about why one would want to get their music from You Tube (and before Mr. C's BluRay response) gave me flashbacks to the glory days of music videos -- (yes, young'uns, oldies time...)But seriously: anyone who is into dance, choreography, stage work -- (Maria, where are you???) there was a period when they were making these amazing videos (from a geek's viewpoint, maybe). They'd have a singer/ singers who maybe had a few moves, but then would add pros and some amazing choreography and direction and put together a performance that rival the old movie musicals from way back when. Because of that I found myself listening to -- repeatedly -- tunes I probably would have missed otherwise, because the videos were so great. So I ran back and found my faves (thanks, Aerie & Mr. C; it was so fun to see them again after not thinking about them for so long!!) (and oddly enough 2 of the 3 faves are flashbacks to '20's movies ... go figure! ). SO! Here are three very different vids using dance in really different but very cool ways: the one everyone knows, Madonna's Vogue, is here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdkAOa2hkQo (just gorgeous!); Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal is so great -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXW3J0CmbjM -- the choreographer takes MJ's moves & makes them a whole routine; adds other movement and makes a man who can dance, but was never classically trained, look like Fred Astaire! And this last is a song I realy liked but then when I found it had it's own "dance" video -- ah! www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rDHFXdUPLQ&feature=related -- Quincy Jones' production of I'll Be Good to You featuring Ray Charles & Chaka Kahn... how can you watch it and not smile?? ;D ...thanks for letting me wallow! Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! ;D

For shywriter. 1930's inspired, at least the costumes and a great song to boot

The only music video I like more for the choreography than the song, at least the only one I can think of:
granted the moving floor is responsible for most of the coolness.

Ah, you guys are great! For shywriter. 1930's inspired, at least the costumes and a great song to boot Joe Jackson! Cool; I always liked this song and never saw the video. Nice how they found all the art deco & such to give it that look (think the lite beer was product placement? I'm thinkin' Lite didn't show up for another few decades! The only music video I like more for the choreography than the song, at least the only one I can think of: Thanks, Mr. Clark, but the video won't play! (sez it's no longer available...?? You had me curious about that floor, too! (and cool skills to just drop the you tube clip here, both of you ... I never know which of the various links they offer works here... )

No the video is still very much there it just seems that nobody wants to allow embedding for it which is weird. You can see it by taking an extra CLICK

You can see it by taking an extra CLICKOh, yeah, Mr. C; you've got the spirit! yet another sort of "choreography" -- non dancer used well in a terrific "dance" vid -- and I like this tune! (I like Jamiroqui but hadn't seen this vid, and I don't know that I've heard the song. So double thanks!) It had reminded me of this one www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaRfxjcpYvM (Ok GO) but when I went to find it, it just paled in comparison to what Jamiroqui did with the same basic idea..

I am thankful for you guys making me start hunting old old stuff found on You Tube! (but less thankful because dinner now running behind and work to be done this morning not quite as far along as planned...) Still! On the dance vid theme, wondered if I could find this one I barely remembered and WOW! Cold shower material.... ;D Non-dancer dancing in this one is Bruce Willis in a very steamy number from Moonlighting, to a great Billy Joel song, "Big Man on Mulberry Street." (Episode's same title.) A DA-like plot: Maddie finds out David was married before (sound familiar?) This is her obsessive dream about it... www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ML3Xp1rK-8(It's just okay 'til the lead dancer & Willis get together but wow, then the chemistry kicks in ...! And you male types out there, if you don't think the woman dancing the lead in this vid is about as smokin' as they come, there's no hope for you! ;D Wish they would have left off the last part of the dance, but then, the series star has to get a bit of time in this, I guess... )

loved Big Man on Mulberry Street on Moonlighting, though it was obviously a take on the Cyd Charisse/Gene Kelly number in 'Singing in the Rain' [I've been introducing my son to older TV show via the library and Netflix so we just recently watched the series]

I don't know if this has been posted before but its just something that brightens my day whenever I watch it. I actually like Shia Labeouf but he does kind of have a shtick.
Might as well throw in another repetitive movie sound thingy, a tribute to the Wilhelm scream, something I'm sure everyone here has heard (its been in 130 films, including every Star Wars). If your like me once you've watched this you'll chuckle a little everytime you hear it from now on.
Might as well share another cool video even tho it is fake, Bruce Lee playing ping pong with nun-chucks.
