Perhaps she was hoping it to have more meaning than just actually going to CRASH? 'Cause she flounces a little when he turns her down. yes, it looks like that, and I really like the way she tries to cover her dissapointment and tries to put on a smile, just before she says: Oh right, I forgot, no fun for Logan Cale, the world is coming to an end, fight the power, protect the downtrodden, Blah Blah, woof woof.damn i love that scene ..couldnt help wondering why he turned her down, cos of the chair? cos of Logan being Logan? or was it maybe something else?

thought of another favorite, In Flushed when Max is at Logans place when he has paged her and wants to cook dinner for her, and shes having a seizure. She slumps down on Logans couch while she is shaking a little, and she says:
Max: im supposed to be a revved up girl, truth is, im a lemon.
Logan: i dont know about that
(Max start shaking more) Logan: what can I do?
(Starts to stroke her forehead)
Max: stay with me, please?
Logan: im right here
MAX: you wont leave?
Logan: im not going anywhere
(Still stroking her forehead)
its so veery nice. just gotta love that scene

Art Attack:
Several, if not many, scenes from this episode, it being my favorite.
Of course there is the arrival of Max in the red dress, Logan's/Normal's/Cindy's faces, not to mention all the Jam Pony employees in the background straining to get a look.
I love the way Max is so protective of Logan at first, until he starts blowing her off (idiot!).
When Logan first introduces Max to Dafney(?) and Max moves right up behind him with a definate "I'm with him, he's with me" expression and stance.
Another fav is the tone of her voice when she asks him where he is going at the end. It's so possesive but still slightly concerned. Gold.
Can't get past the extremely happy shipper moment at the very end, however. Logan telling Max how she looked, her desperate attempts to cover that huge gorgeous smile of hers. And also because it's such an overtly positive ending, with thousands of possibilities and all that. Just lovely.

In 1.08, Blah Blah, Woof Woof -
(Max stands up while humming “Valse Triste.”)
LOGAN: That’s the music. MAX: From...the car? LOGAN: Right...from the car. MAX: You know...about what happened... LOGAN: After the car. MAX: I was real emotional with all that was going on. LOGAN: I know. MAX: It’s not... LOGAN: Me, neither. MAX: I mean... LOGAN: Exactly. MAX: So long as that’s clear. LOGAN: I’m glad we talked about it. MAX: Me, too. See ya. LOGAN: Later.

..couldnt help wondering why he turned her down, cos of the chair? cos of Logan being Logan? or was it maybe something else? I think he turned her down for a lot of reasons. All having to do with him being too embarrassed to go out to a young, hip-hopish, sporty-type bar. Not his class, age group, style, etc, etc. He really should have picked up on Max letting him know that she was not embarrassed to be with him. Was it just me or did anyone else think that he looked just a little hopeful when she said "and I am not done taking advantage either." then a little disappointed when he realized she was not going to be taking advantage of him?? Either way, I loved that scene ;D

It was always about the chair with Logan.

I don't really look at it as 'Logan turning down Max' - he was just trying to follow (what he thought was) her lead.
I think both of them thought of the other as being 'slightly out of their league' and didn't want to embarrass themselves. Nobody likes to put their heart on the table only to have it squished.

I don't really look at it as 'Logan turning down Max' - he was just trying to follow (what he thought was) her lead. Max asked Logan if he wanted to go to Crash with her. Logan said "No, thanks." I look at that as Logan turning Max down. I do not think Max took it personally. She had to have known that Crash was not really his normal type of place, but then again had he gone out at all since the wheelchair? Maybe she was trying to get him out a little more and maybe she was trying to take him somewhere to watch her show off her moves and see if he might be interested in 'that kind of a relationship'. Neither Max nor Logan is the type of person that the other usually socializes with. (For the sake of this particular argument we will assume that Logan can be said to socialize. See Art Attack.) But, the two of them fit together. Max's comment : " Oh, I forgot. No fun for Logan Cale. " is not too far off. Logan needed to spend more time having fun to be happy. The broken world needed him more. Poor Logan. As if we needed an excuse to want to cuddle him.

Logan had programed himself to not have fun. His negative answer was so automatic that the first time I saw the ep I yelled, " Max, beg him to go." I prefer to think he would have gone. Slow the DVD and watch it. Max does not beg!! Max might kidnap, but she does not beg! I would beg MW but . . . My begging and pleading didn't work. . . . if yours did not work, mine would not either.

The scene in Female Trouble after Max hangs up the phone on Logan's call, and lets him know that she has been following him because she was worried; the way she stands and folds her arms and looks at him-it is such the ticked off wife tone and look that gets me.
Then of course the end when she is racing after him and storming around the apartment looking for him and her relief Logan comes in and she hugs him. And for a brief moment Logan clings to her like he finally got the clue that she cared for him in more than a boss/employee way.[though I wish they had gotten into that a bit more than they did] Again, more the tone and their expressions more than the words.

(This thread is great! So glad it was resurrected--I'd never seen it and, what with cable out here, I've been doing a good bit of "research" lately--as in, watching all the early eps' M/L scenes to watch the progression--and regression --of their relationship! <anything for one's art...! ;D) In 411 on the DL, some things really struck me this time through, but especially: --the great scene when the phone rings and Max learns about (and teases Logan about) "Mrs. (not yet) Eyes Only" --the parallel events that bring Max and Logan to what should be (is ?) a turning point in their relationship: Max had been looking for her sibs all this time, pinning all her hopes on finding them-- and when she finally has Zack in her life, he leaves just as quickly, no big change in her life at all; Logan's wife returns promising that maybe his initial trust in and caring for her wasn't misplaced, now that she's sober--only to find she's scamming him at the behest of another guy and that he fell a second time for someone so willing to hurt him... And the payoff--the moment they each admit to the other their hearts were broken by trusting the wrong dream: watch that scene where they look into each other's eyes and decide that they're not hungry, not sleepy--they're each finding that the person under their noses is far more worthy of that trust... delicious! ~ ;D~
