There has emerged a great debate all across the internet on a TV related matter and as Mr. TV I find myself compelled to give my opinion. Yes Parks and Recreation has become funnier than The Office. I was very much surprised by this development, surprised and entertained.

Speaking of the Office, you gotta love the Onion. Source

I've discovered a 'new' show that is old to all of you. Maybe old to your parents. I'm on season 5 and love it. Might be more fun than Mud Men, Psycho or whatever it is you guys watch. I learned to play the little Cheers tune on the piano and I've been offered big bucks, from my friends, to stop. ;D

But it does make since, Aerie loves a good pub pssst, everyones else but Aerie.... should I tell her that it peaks in season 5? that it's never quite as good once Diane leaves? Or should we let her find out on her own?

Psych has been renewed for a fifth season, TVGuide.com has confirmed. The super-sleuthing USA comedy — which stars James Roday as a fake psychic who solves crimes with his excellent observational skills and Dulé Hill as his best friend and partner — has been given a 16-episode order. Season 5 is likely to kick off in summer 2010. Okay, I found a funny -- hope my long-winded explanation doesn't kill it. You folks who read fanfic will know what a crossover is all about, but for those of you (dzero) who don't indulge -- it's a fanfic story created by taking two or more wholly separate TV shows (or movies, books, whatever) and blending the two -- you know, something totally lame like putting, oh, I don't know, DA and NCIS together ... But for whatever reason I was looking to see if any of the (few) other shows I knew had been crossed with DA. When I looked at Psych's entries, no DA, but I very literally laughed out loud when I read the description of the one crossover posted which blended Psych with Quantum Leap: "Theorizing one could time travel within his own lifetime, Dr. Sam Beckett led an elite group of scientists into the desert to develop a top secret project known as QUANTUM LEAP. Now Sam finds himself in the body of one Carlton Lassiter."I don't even want to read it; I'm enjoying just speculating about it too much... ;D

But why would he "jump into" Lassiter and not Shawn or Gus? See this is one reason why I can't read fan fiction, I can't stop second guessing the writers, can never lose myself in the story.

But why would he "jump into" Lassiter and not Shawn or Gus? Well, clearly there was something important that Lassie needed to do that he just couldn't get done without help ... no problem -- it just means you're destined to write it! (that's one of the beauties of writing fanfic; all those questions and nit picks you have you can turn into your own work of art! ;D)

So it's the combination of the fanfic-format and it not being canon? Never thinking about what-ifs? I think you've become our lab rat for how non-fic-readers watch shows. ;D

I'm not saying I never second guess a movie or TV show ( especially a show that has been on a long time ) but it has happened every time I tried fanfic.

Now that I'm posting this I'm realising this may not be such a good idea because it has no real mention of any of the shows commonly discussed on this board. It does however contain a whole lot of brilliantly written peices in support of shows I'm a huge fan of. Film and TV critic Daniel Feinberg made a pretty good list of the 31 best TV shows of the decade and while I'm sure this crowd will notice many abscences I think he makes some brilliant points in favor of several shows in particular the top two. The Full list can be found HERE. Now However I'm going to post a couple of what I think are the more note worthy quotes that I agree with wholeheartedly. The first of which is on his top rated show the Wire. Also a rather brilliant assesment of the social impact the Daily Show has had over the last decade.

After all, "Mr. TV" does live here. I was glad to see not only the Daily Show, but Arrested Development & West Wing. (Maybe one of these days I'll find time to catch up on the others! )
