Any weather that turns the H2O on the roads into ICE in an area where the vast majority of the drivers do not know how to drive on a low friction surface (read ICE) is very dangerous. See above posted video link for evidence. The man watched 15 accidents from his apartment! That is ONE street corner!! Ye flippin' gods!! True story!! Man who was 4.45 hours late for work today: "I was in an accident." Me: "Are you OK?" Man who was 4.45 hours late for work today: "Oh, yeah. I was on a bus." Me: "What did you hit?" Man who was 4.45 hours late for work today: "Some guy in an SUV." Me: "He was out in his 4 wheel drive gas guzzler thinking he was all that and pow!, eh?" (Sorry about the accent. We have a trainer down from our Canadian site this month.)Man who was 4.45 hours late for work today: "Well, actually we hit him. He was just sitting there." Me: "Oh, well, never mind then." And for some reason the man who was 4.45 hours late for work today seemed to think that was funny. Fellow Portlander, huh? Cool. I'm just not leaving the house until April. I've decided it's just too risky... Technically, I live in Beaverton now, but it is still in the Tri-Met (that's our bus system, folks) service area. [glow=green,2,300]Thank goodness!! [/glow]

It's been so cold here in the L.A. area. The snow in Malibu isn't that far from me but I live on the Southwest side of a hill, kind of a warmer little area. It's still very cold.

But, just like every winter, even with only a slight layer of snow on the streets there were enough people in front of my car driving like drunks, snail-like at about 40 km/h / 25 mph (and waaay slower in the many bends) where I normally drive 80 / 50mph or just getting stuck with their summer tires (how very surprising that snow tires might be useful when driving over a 1000m Black Forest pass in winter ) and parking on the middle of the street. And of course truck drivers think snow chain-signs are just nice decoration with the sole purpose of entertaining tourists . On the bright side there finally might be a minimum snow layer for skiing .

I live at the Danube and haven't seen the sun for ages Feels like this movie "The fog" with those zombie-sailors. Either it rains or it's misty. And cold. I hate it.

It's sunny in the Los Angeles area today but it's only about 70 F. or 21 C. We might have rain showers tomorrow so I better stop bragging. ;D

So our second ‘real’ snowfall of the year and it’s not surprisingly hit on our second holiday of the year. Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day have now both had ice storms going on. St. Patrick’s Day and ‘slippery conditions’ do NOT go together. I have enough trouble staying upright without adding slush to the mix!

Snow. - did Mia say snow ? Good golly, it was almost 80 F. (27 C.) today. I have a couple of hills between me and the ocean but the fog is rolling in fast tonight. I zoomed home early because I hate to drive in the fog.

St. Patrick’s Day and ‘slippery conditions’ do NOT go together. Someone recently told me we get the US east coast-weather with a few weeks delay – and it seems to be true, after the nice spring temperatures lately it’s supposed to snow next week… (Right in time for the official beginning of spring, just like every year ) Off to go search something green to wear for the Irish Pub tour tonight… seems like I have the choice between a summer-dress and an equally chilly top

Now it snows like mad and went from looking like spring with flowers and all to mid-December…. And I looked like a weird snowman after only 10 minutes of shovelling snow . This means I have to get up an hour earlier tomorrow .
