chick-fil-a makes you a southerner?? we have several here in mishawaka, i woulda though it made you a yankee. I believe they started in the South and have heard Southerners mention it, people who moved from the south mentioning they missed it when in California the way I am missing In & Out or Del Taco. Seriously how can they not have Del Taco here

I am missing In & Out or Del Taco. Seriously how can they not have Del Taco here What is it with In & Out? What makes their burgers so special? Shocking name for a food service establishment BTW! ** Gourmet burgers are the big thing down here (have been for a few years now) Grill'd and Urban Burger are probably the best www.grilld.com.au/airstreamwww.urbanburger.com.au/* Eat in - the burgers are served on real plates (no plastic) * The burgers are REALLY grilled to order (they don't have the grill marks painted on) * Real identifiable ingredients I think I just typed the world 'real' a lot! LOLGrill'd have the BEST herb salted chips. (That's right, we call them CHIPS!)

Did you try one when you were in California? Hard to put into words they are unique, nothing else quite like them. The ingredients are super fresh. For me I grew up on them so that a big part of it but they are a favorite of a lot of people from SoCal. I do know they are expanding into the Dallas so it's probably just a matter of time before they get to Austin. lol the name is because the original locations were all drive through, I remember thinking it was weird the first time I saw one with indoor seating

I see that it has real tomato and lettuce, but what's up with the cheese? I think In & Out are selling what traditionally were served down here at 'Fish & Chip' shops. Individually owned take away places that serve F&C & burgers (aka Greasy Joes). Some are also fish mongers. Real basic ingredients and everything is made to order. Nothing fancy. All food is take away only and they're the kind of places that have a Galaga or pinball machine in the corner. McDonalds and Hungry Jacks (Burger King) killed most of these places with their pre-cooked, over processed burgers and postmix coke. I think if Grill'd or Urban Burger opened up over there they'd make a killing. Fresh ingredients, amazing flavour combinations, choice of buns (traditional, wholemeal or panini) mmmmmmm. They've gone back to basics but done it with flair...and their chips are to die for. Unfortunately all of that comes at a price - they're not cheap (But they do fill you up. You can barely eat dinner if you have one of their burgers at lunchtime.) To fight back against the move to gourmet burgers, McDoanlds down here has tried to introduce their own equivalent fancy-pants menu. mcdonalds.com.au/our-food/menu/#/m-selections (Have to laugh at their pictures - as you just know that the burgers in reality DO NOT get served looking like that LOL) Have they done the same thing over there?

I see that it has real tomato and lettuce, but what's up with the cheese? Ummm it's melted? I always order mine with no cheese but I don't see anything weird about the pic loved Galaga ;D but no video games or anything and this sounds like a strange thing to compliment a fast food place on but it is noticible how clean their locations are and how friendly the staff is. The Mcdonalds menu in the US has a huge selection of different things but I wouldn't call any of it fancy pants. We've got sitdown restaraunts kinda like you're describing ( Red Robin, Fudruckers maybe ) but I would put them in a different catagory than fast food. I am imagining mari's head exploding at this serious discussion of burgers/fast food ;D

I am imagining mari's head exploding at this serious discussion of burgers/fast food ;D Nope, I'm beginning to understand (after Angelz' description actually made me drool) why I've never liked burgers. They were introduced in Germany by McDonald's, then there's Burger King and that's it. (Recently Subway but those don't qualify as Burger's, right?) Never any independent Burger places before and no comeback of independent quality burgers after. They try to lure in people with horrible looking 'local' versions like McRösti or McBrezel. ;D

the best way to have a burger is to grill it youself, no pan fry..charcoal GRILL, and use a-1 sauce in the meatpatty, and use garlic butter on the buns, and use a home garden grown tomato, [store bought has no flavor} and real chedder cheese...mmmmmmm. goes well with an ice cold coors light...dammint, now I'M hungry

Switch the meat patty for a vege patty and I'm in! Oh and beetroot. A REAL burger has pickled beetroot on it! ;D That's how we do it down here!

You are what you eat!Customer has heart attack at Heart Attack restaurant
A man has had a heart attack ... while eating at the Heart Attack Grill in Las Vegas. The man, in his 40s, was eating the 6000-calorie Triple Bypass Burger at the restaurant on Saturday when he started sweating, shaking and could barely talk, owner Jon Basso said. "It was no joke," said Jon Basso, who calls himself "Doctor Jon", with his scantily-clad waitresses as nurses and customers as patients. He said this was the first time - despite the name of the restaurant - that a customer had had a heart attack there. "One of the nurses came back to me and said, 'Dr. Jon, we've got a patient who's in trouble'," he told the FOX5 television station. The man was taken to hospital by paramedics, but his condition was not disclosed, the Associated Press reported. Mr Basso said he felt "horrible" for the man, as tourists snapped photos of him while he was wheeled out of the restaurant on a stretcher. "Even with our own morbid sense of humour, we would never pull a stunt like that," he said. At the restaurant, eaters are given surgical gowns as they choose from a calorically extravagant menu offering "Bypass" burgers, "Flatliner" fries, buttermilk shakes and free meals to folks over 159 kilograms. In March 2011, 260.8-kilogram, two-metre-tall Blair River, 29, who became well-known as the spokesman for the restaurant, died, possibly from contracting pneumonia after a bout of flu. www.theage.com.au/entertainment/restaurants-and-bars/customer-has-heart-attack-at-heart-attack-restaurant-20120216-1ta3y.html

Kobe Beef Steak Tar tare Grilled Kangaroo served with Pommes Frites a green leaf that tasted like lemon ( can't remember the name ) served with aged Prosciutto and for dessert Fried Oreos
last nights menu, all firsts for me
the Kangaroo was my favorite, apologies to our Australian vegetarian friend
The Oreos tasted like S'mores
The Pommes Frites? who are you kidding they are french fries
the Tar tare was good but very rich, I wouldn't eat it as a main course
the Prosciutto? yuck, the leaf that tasted like lemon was cool though

No problem. Apparently kangaroo (when cooked properly) is both delicious and good for you. Less cholesterol or something.
Mmmmmmm pomme frittes ;D
Fried Oreos? Is that the US equivalent of a friend Mars Bar?
