Oh, yes. Mint in salad....And fresh Rosemary. So, how about spices… What are your sweet or spicy favorites? This is my recent favorite, Tunisian Tabil , so good with veggies or on a sandwich. Nice...I'm using a lot of spices, since I can't eat salt anymore (thanks Dad! ). Mostly Ceylon curry, is pretty mild but you can just use lots of it to get a stronger effect. Another favorites are Cumin and Saffron, a staple of Spanish cuisine. My signature dish right now is basically everything I find on the veggies bin, plus the cheapest veal cut (cheap because it takes a LOT of cooking to tenderize) thrown on my trusty Essen pressure cooker with lots of Cumin and a dash of paprika, then let it stew an hour...god, I love autumn/winter food

Rumor has it it's on its way back! ;D Living out of french press last 2 weeks and things are getting tense... The one that talked? Did you overtax her? ;D More that I got over confident sticking my hand up into the works to clean out the grounds -- pulled something off of something. Definitely user failure... That's probably why I forgot; that one was tied for the best coffee of the trip! (That was a good pic, the mixing coffee one... ;D) At least we're back to the good stuff at home, bit wow those Viennese know what they're doing when it comes to coffee! ;D

I didn't technically blow ours up - but when a sparks starting shooting off the food I knew it was time for a new microwave! Must be the season for buying new appliances.

I didn't technically blow ours up - but when a sparks starting shooting off the food I knew it was time for a new microwave! Must be the season for buying new appliances. We had to buy a new microwave a couple yrs ago when a repairman told us it was bad ... got a new one & had it put in (installed above the stove). When *it* didn't work the guy *then* decided it was the electric plug, not the microwave at all! And just sort of said "oh shucks -- too bad about the old microwave." Yeah, 'too bad,' huh? Mr. Shy talked me out of docking the cost from the repair company, since they caused us to toss a perfectly good oven (repairman from company owned by a neighbor -- not even a very good neighbor. Grrr... ) What would we do without our toys??

OMG they have done it, they have improved on the Oreo the regular oreos don't have enough cream filling, the double stuff oreos have too much but this week for the first time I tried these can be found only at Trader Joes as far as I know and they are perfect. They are little pieces of heaven. Already on my second box

With the Food & associated discussion popping up in JA's thread (hey, probably her fault; there isn't a day that goes by we don't get photos of that girl at some food or beverage shop or other, slurping down the goodies!) it seems wise to move the food discussion into the official location for such an important discussion! ;D We shouldn't be ignoring our official food site, anyway. And FYI, for anyone who is going on a trip to somewhere (including Germans who think they have only fast food to look forward to here!) this is a great place for food recommendations: "Chowhound" has a bunch of regional boards with lots of foodies on who will give recommendations of where to eat -- for example, the New Orleans board tends to be questions from people who are coming to town and answers from natives who can give you the best, up to the minute recommendations from both the native's and tourist's POV. I've gotten some great suggestions when I was looking for some vegetarian suggestions! check it out: chowhound.chow.com/boards
