The old Fanfiction Trouble thread is a little full, so here's a new thread.
The following messages were posted recently on FF.net. November 12th, 2008 -- Important Noice: To users having email alert issues and are using email providers like or similar to Yahoo, MSN, Hotmail, or GMail, please read the following. FanFiction.Net emails are being delivered to you but your email provider might have moved them into the "spam" folder. To avoid this in the future, add the email address "bot@fanfiction.com", notice it is .com and not .net, to your web account's contact list, and make sure you leave the option of auto-delete for spam unchecked. In addition, whenever you receive an alert and it's marked spam, you should hit the "not spam" button when available.
We have implemented a second revision to our post-login/administrative interface. This new design is more browser friendly and now requires only a single mouse click to access all features.
November 17th, 2008 -- Notable changes from our latest round of category cleanup: -Avatar: Last Airbender » moved to Cartoons -HiHi Puffy Ami Yumi » moved to Cartoons -L.J. Smith » changed to Secret Circle series -Golden Compass/Northern Lights » merged into His Dark Materials -Dark Knight » merged with Batman Begins to become Batman Begins/Dark Knight -Misc. Anime/Manga/Comic/Cartoon/Game/Movie/TV categories have been moved to the "Misc" root/top category.

Does anyone know what's wrong with ffnet? For the past three days I haven't been able to access the login, and I'm getting the impression that I'm not the only one. Yet, no message on the site's homepage.

Yet, no message on the site's homepage. Yeah, a glitch of international proportions (as in, one of our European peeps & I compared notes & we both had problems!) For several days it's said "come back in a few minutes." It would be SOP for FFN to either announce the problem AFTER it was fixed, assuring us all was well, or not to mention it at all. Days like this I entertain myself by sending e-mail to their support address every 5 minutes or so...

The following message was posted yesterday on FF.net March 5th, 2009 -- A new "Plays/Musicals" top-level category has been created in response to growing interest. All play/musical related sections from the "Misc" category have been relocated to the new home. Due to this update, some category specific links have changed. Reader Traffic feature has been extended to both forums and communities. Respective administrators can login and visit the traffic area for access to these two new features. Forum/Community traffic data collection started in February of 2009.
Please note we have updated the website Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Translations of the two documents in both Spanish and German have been provided with French versions forthcoming.
We have resolved an issue which affected Reader Traffic access and collection on the first day of every new month and a problem which caused timed-out errors for large file uploads in the Document Manager.

Yay, FFN is broken again. Don't worry, there are updates. The following message was posted yesterday on FF.net. March 27, 2009 -- Feature Announcement: We are happy to announce the first-phase launch of a comprehensive support for "Crossover" fanfiction. Crossovers, as defined by the site, are stories contaning themes and/or characters from two distinct categories.
Members may now login to create a crossover story or convert an existing story to a crossover. We encourage everyone to start submitting their crossovers and those using "Misc/Crossover" categories as a workaround to properly convert their entries.
We are spreading out the launch of crossover support over the next 2 weeks. Second phase launch which will introduce public browsing of crossover archives is due on March 29.
Due to the amount of changes, we ask users to be vigilant and report any bugs/errors to our support email.
Misc notes: New Story/Chapter email alerts have been updated to include pairing/character info. Most of listing pages will now dispaly pairing/character info when applicable. An issue yesterday causing the incorrect rejection of uploads to Document Manager has been fixed.
