JANE FONDA, OPRAH WINFREY and JESSICA ALBA are to stage the biggest girl thingy MONOLOGUES performance in history at the New Orleans, Louisiana arena where locals sheltered from Hurricane Katrina. A starry line-up will read and act out real-life stories from rape and domestic violence victims at the Superdome in April - and, for the first time, leading men will take part. The SuperLove event will coincide with the 10th anniversary of the Eve Ensler-inspired play - and the author/feminist thinks it's time for men to get involved in women's issues. She says, "Men must be our allies in the next 10 years and own this issues as a human issue, not a women's issue, if we're going to end violence against women and girls." Info from www.contactmusic.com. ALBA SETS A GREEN EXAMPLE Pregnant actress JESSICA ALBA is using her expectant mother status to go green. The actress is determined to set a good example for her unborn child, so the kid will be kind to the environment. She says, "I drive a Prius (an eco-friendly car), and I try to recycle as much as I can, I bought a house, and I'm doing all eco-friendly renovations. Most of my furniture is old, and I'm refurbishing it. "I'm even taking stuffing from old couches and making my pillows out of that. Kids are going to do just about anything - I've seen them put cockroaches in their mouths - so I want to make things as non-toxic as possible, within reason. I'm not going to be a crazy person about it, but I think it's important to be aware of it." Info from www.contactmusic.com.

JESSICA ALBA TALKS PRIVACY Jessica Alba has been in the public eye for nearly a decade after shooting to stardom with her hit TV show Dark Angel back in 2000. Since then, the sex symbol has starred in feature films like Sin City, Fantastic Four, Into the Blue, Good Luck Chuck and most recently, The Eye. Alba told us that she really tries to keep her personal life private. "You know I pretty much don't give much if anything away. Anything that's ever been told to the press has been leaked and I have to confirm or deny. It's not like I made an announcement saying, 'Hey everyone, I'm pregnant.' It got leaked to people and it's kinda like you confirm it or deny it and I took the least dramatic avenue, I thought." Alba also added that it is a difficult task to keep things discrete. "That's annoying for sure, but yeah, I have privacy at home and with friends and stuff. But it is a bit difficult, when you are sort of in the public eye." Info from www.mtv.ca

Alba fights back over heritage Pregnant Jessica Alba has hit back at "haters" who claim she is ashamed of her Latina roots - insisting: "I'm excited for my baby to be brown." Sin City star Alba, 26, has long been attacked on the internet and by Latin reporters for not being proud of her heritage and not speaking Spanish. But now Alba stand proud on the cover of Latina magazine, insisting: "I always took pride in being Latina." And the pregnant actress also revealed that she is now taking Spanish lessons - and plans to only speak Spanish to her baby. Alba insists that both she and fiance Cash Warren hope their heritage - both Alba's Mexican side and Warren's African American - will be clearly evident in their child. "I'm excited for my baby to be brown," Alba insisted. "I just have to believe the dark gene is going to survive. Cash and I are like, 'Please'." She believes that, ironically, rather than hiding her Latina roots she feels that everyone else is trying to steal some of her "flavour". "I like that I look different; I like having flavour," she said. I think it's funny that women get their lips injected, butt implants - everyone wants to look like us now." Alba - whose father is Mexican-American and was born in California - admits she has been reduced to tears by the attacks from Latina media. "I cried later," she said, saying she felt they were "really mean" and showing that they "just didn't accept me". She insists the reaction made her confused about where she belonged. "I always took pride in being Latina, it's something I always embraced," she said. "But when I got shunned, it made me feel really bad, like maybe I'm not." But now she is eager to make a bigger effort to reach out to the Latin community. Asked if she wants to speak Spanish, she said: "Yeah - hell yeah!'" She added: "I wish to God that my dad spoke Spanish to my brother and me, but he didn't grow up with it." She revealed that she is already taking lessons, and has considered making "a move to a country for three months" to immerse herself in the language. "Hopefully I can pick it up because I want my kids to speak Spanish," she said. "I don't even want them to speak English for maybe the first two to three years, until pre-school. We're in the United States so they're going to learn it anyway." She says the abuse from the Spanish-speaking media got so bad she told her publicist she would no longer do any more Latin events. "I can't go on the press lines and have people make me feel bad about myself," she said. "Life is too short. I can't change how I grew up, and I can't apologise for it." She hopes learning Spanish may help bring an end to that self-imposed exile from Latin pressrooms. "I'll feel more comfortable when I speak Spanish so I'm not offensive to them," she said. I need to know the language in order to make progress in the Latin community. It would make things easier." Now she is proud that "mainstream" America watches her in blockbuster movies, and starts to see how mixed-heritage people like herself are the real face of America. "I was always trying to figure out 'How the hell am I going to be mainstream?'," she said. "How are people going to accept me? When are they going to get a clue that I am American, that this is what America looks like - people like me who are mixed, have different blood, mixed with different ethnicities? When are the people who are hiring for these jobs and writing these screenplays going to realize that?'" But she was also wary of taking the Latina character roles she was offered because of the stereotypes they reinforced. Instead, she is waiting for a role that is "someone who embodies how I want people to view a Latina woman - not a gangster or a slut". The big break for her, she insists, came not with Hollywood but ad-land, when she was chosen as the new face of Revlon. "It appeals to the mass market - and the faces are me and Halle [Berry]," she said, proudly. I love that we're representing America." Info from www.entertainment.yahoo.com

Alba gets personal at the Oscars Pregnant Jessica Alba revealed she will be breast feeding her baby and showed off her engagement ring on the Oscars red carpet. The sexy star at first refused to reveal whether she will breastfeed, telling Ryan Seacrest: "That's really personal." But then she gave and admitted: "Yes, it's good for the baby." Jessica, who was accompanied by fiance Cash Warren, refused to give her due date. She would only say: "I'm kind of keeping that secret." Info from www.entertainment.yahoo.com. Jessica Alba: Baby’s "Kicking All the Time" It was a bumpy night for five-months pregnant Jessica Alba as she hit the Oscars Sunday with fiance Cash Warren. Her baby’s “kicking all the time,” she told Usmagazine.com as she walked the carpet. “I think the baby likes being in the womb and growing and hanging out.” The actress, 26 — one of Us’ best dressed celebs of the night — wore a plum Marchesa dress. Was it tough for the mom-to-be to walk the carpet in those tiny Jimmy Choo shoes? “It's OK,” said Alba, who also told Ryan Seacrest that she planned to breastfeed. “Your feet are just a little wider, so I have to get a bigger size!” Alba, who presented, also told Us she was star struck. On her must-meet list: Juno’s Ellen Page. “She is so cute — she is one of my favorites!” Alba said. “And if I get to say hi to Javier Bardem or Daniel Day-Lewis…it’s fun to be here as a fan, especially when you’ve been watching them for so long.” Info from www.usmagazine.com.

Jessica Alba Recalls First Kiss, Being Called a 'Slut' Originally posted Thursday February 28, 2008 She may be happily engaged and a picture perfect mom-to-be now, but Jessica Alba has held on to some nightmare moments from childhood. In a new book of essays called If I'd Known Then, Alba opens up about being labeled a sixth-grade slut by her elementary school principal and a couple of "self-righteous" PTA moms. "The accusation still ricochets … They think I'm a slut?" she writes. Alba, 26, who first kissed a boy as a 7-year-old "so he would pick me for our neighborhood baseball team" admits that teen males can be a real handful. "Boys are awful. They are made of nothing but hormones until they're about 20 or 21," she writes. "It's fun to have a crush, but don't think it's forever." Set for publication this spring, the essay collection is letters – by famous women, 35 or younger – written to their younger selves. Contributers include Olympic soccer gold medalist Julia Foudy, activist Zainab Salbi and actress Danica McKellar, according to the New York Post's Page Six. Alba talks Swayze and Lily Allen Hollywood star Jessica Alba has expressed her sadness over the news that Patrick Swayze has cancer. Swayze, 55, has being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer but is said to be "responding well to treatment". The actress spoke out while in London to promote her new film The Eye which is out in April. The 26-year-old remembers watching Swayze's hit films Dirty Dancing and Ghost as a child. "I grew up with him, so it's always horrible to hear of anybody having any kind of illness." The actress, who is constantly surrounded by photographers fighting for her picture, also said there should be tougher controls on the paparazzi. She said: "I think there should be a law that they have to stay away, that they can't be so close and I wish we had a law in our country where they didn't show the children's faces." Her comments came after Lily Allen's scrape with a crowd of paps outside a trendy London nightclub which resulted in her car window being accidentally smashed. Speaking of the Smile singer, Alba said: "I sat next to Lily at a Chanel show I think. She's lovely." Info from www.channel4.com.

Pregnant pause for busy Jessica Alba EVEN if her increasingly obvious pregnancy had not intervened, Jessica Alba would probably be taking it easy now. At 26, she has been working for almost a decade and the past two or three years have seen her graduate from TV's Dark Angel to starring roles in a string of movies including Sin City, Into the Blue and Fantastic Four (all 2005) and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Good Luck Chuck and Awake (all 2007). She has the horror movie The Eye about to hit Australian screens and, for a complete change of pace, will be seen opposite Mike Myers and Justin Timberlake in The Love Guru, scheduled for release this year. "Regardless of being pregnant, I've been working for two years straight and I'd chosen to take this time off anyway," Alba says. "I just want to get my head straight and stop working and breathe and be a person for a little while." Alba is expecting her first child with her "fiance on the way to husband" Cash Warren, 29, the son of actor Michael Warren, who played Officer Bobby Hill on the TV series Hill Street Blues. The couple have bought a bigger house in Los Angeles and are renovating. "I'm trying to do as many eco-friendly and green renovations as possible, from the furniture we're buying and the refurbishments we're doing to getting systems that conserve water," Alba says. "I've been investigating solar panels and things like that and I drive a hybrid, so I'm doing the best I can." Info from www.news.com.au | Herald Sun

from social_misfit at the JA fanhost site, the supposed details on JA's house realestalker.blogspot.com/2008/01/jessica-alba-and-cash-warren-make-house.htmlBUYERS: Jessica Alba and Cash Warren LOCATION: N. Beverly Drive, Beverly Hills (Post Office) PRICE: $4,050,000 (sale) SIZE: 4,686 square feet, 4 bedrooms, 4 full and 2 half bathrooms DESCRIPTION: Breathtaking Italian Villa in the BHPO adj. to Franklin Cyn. Park. 4 bds, 4 baths (en suite) + two 1/2 bas. Romantic master w/ fp that leads to an amazing outdoor terrace + his/hers custom closets, large cooks' kitchen w/ Viking Professional range. Expansive, charming veranda w/ outdoor dining area. Beautiful faux finishes, arched doorways, imported Italian tiles & sinks, surround sound, landscaped yard w/ pool, spa, waterfall. Newer system. Every room opens to the outside. Here's what we like about this house: According to the listing, every room on the main floor opens to the outdoors. Now that, children, makes for some dee-lishus California living. The house is completely surrounded by Saltillo tile terraces tucked into the hillside, surrounding the heated swimming pool and over looking the scrubby hillside on the other side of N. Beverly Drive. There's a gorgeous outdoor covered dining area perfect for balmy evenings spent sipping stiff gin and tonics and playing Scrabble, and the resort style swimming pool is wonderfully private and lovely enough to look at. Here's what we don't like: The kitchen. Yes, we do appreciate the monster island perfect for rolling out tortillas, and maybe it's just a bad photo, but that tile floor makes Your Mama's head swim like the morning after a long night out with booze hounds and boy magnets Fiona Trambeau and Falsetta Knockers. Now then, let's all take bets on how long before paparazzi hating Miss Alba lobbies her neighbors to have the street gated. edited so that Aerie has a nicer weekend
