Jessica Alba’s no stranger to dangerous foes — the Silver Surfer, the Yellow Bastard, that SOB Dane Cook (we kid!) — but Alba’s biggest ever cinematic enemy might very well wind up being the smallest. “Me and Verne [Troyer] go at it a lot!” Alba said of her upcoming “The Love Guru” co-star. “We’re going to be very mean to each other. We’ve had some combative words.” Check out our full Jessica Alba interview here.
Alba and Troyer square off in Mike Myers’ “The Love Guru,” which the 26-year-old Alba began filming last week. Verne plays the coach of a Toronto hockey team while Jessica laces up as the owner. “Basically my family is cursed,” she explained. “Ever since we’ve owned this hockey team they can’t win a Stanley Cup. They all blame me.” (After the jump, video of Alba discussing her date with Troyer.)
And as any Canadian could tell you - all’s fair in love and hockey. “My character has a hard time getting a date and a hard time with guys because everyone hates her,” Alba — who it will be pointed out umpteen times before this movie comes out never faces a problem like this in real life — revealed. “She’s a ballbuster and a survivor [and winds up] falling for the love guru. He kind of balances her out.”
OK, really though, forget that. She’s gonna slug Mini-Me. “He’s offensive!” Alba mock swore.

It's all too easy to make the obvious pun, but "Fantastic Four" and "Sin City" star Jessica Alba really is pretty fantastic, whether she's battling intergalactic foes as the Invisible Woman or yellow rapists as Nancy Callahan. The 26-year-old beauty, and star of the upcoming "Good Luck Chuck," recently sat down with MTV News to talk about pulling a fast one on movie audiences, her clumsiest moment, how it feels to be a total "hottie" and why MTV is to thank for it all.
MTV: It's funny, the ads for this movie show you in your underwear, but Dane Cook probably shows more skin in this film than you do.
Jessica Alba: Dane takes down many, many, many women — to [director Mark Helfrich's] delight. I think his only reason for [directing] the film, frankly, was to shoot the bed sequences. And did he shoot them — quite well, quite extensively! And, yes, it was nice to not be objectified in that way. So for all the ladies out there, there's something for you in Dane Cook. And for all the men there's everything for you in this movie ... except for me!
MTV: Speaking of looks, you very recently earned the Teen Choice Hottie Award —
Alba: I'm glad to know that I'm not the grandma or the auntie. Thank the Lord I haven't reached auntie status yet.
MTV: You'll take sexiest auntie eventually.
Alba: Four more years! No, to be honest with you, if I didn't have any movies coming out and I wasn't in the public eye, I wouldn't be in this situation.
MTV: After "Sin City" and "Fantastic Four," "Good Luck Chuck" is a total change of pace, isn't it?
Alba: Cam is definitely a departure from any other character I've played. She's very clumsy, anything bad that can happen around this girl, does. [But] the clumsiness is definitely something I was attracted to — the physical-comedy aspect of it. I'm actually very clumsy and uncoordinated [in real life]. I play such coordinated people usually — action heroes and comic book heroes and dancers. Little do they know, the people out there, that it's all smoke and mirrors.
MTV: Does your real-life clumsiness ever get you in trouble?
Alba: [Recently] I thought it would be really cute, on a date, at 4 in the morning, to go climb a rock in Malibu [California]. "It's a full moon; let's go climb a rock!" Yeah, right. There was a huge lagoon in front of the rock, and I fell face first into the water. Completely soaking wet, and I had a huge scratch. On my camera test, the makeup artist was like, "What's that huge scab on your leg?" I forgot about it too. That happens, by the way, when you go through something embarrassing. You block it out until you remember the scab.
MTV: I hear you've credited your stint hosting the the 2006 MTV Movie Awards with helping to get you into comedy.
Alba: I kinda used the MTV Movie Awards as an audition. Judd Apatow was in the audience, and I was so nervous because I'm such a huge fan. Dane was in the audience. I was just doing a lot of deep breaths, and hoping to God that somebody was going to laugh at some point during the sketches.
MTV: Sounds like a very public audition.
Alba: It was a very public audition. I read quite a few comedies [after that], and there wasn't anything that was written as well for a female. In this movie, I get to be the joke. Nobody's ever seen me do any type of comedy before. So thank you, MTV, thank you for that.
(Watch Jessica flaunt her comedy skills in clips from the 2006 MTV Movie Awards.)
MTV: You've got a horror film coming out too, "The Eye."
Alba: That's going to be another one that's going to be completely different, that people have not seen. I have a cornea transplant so I'm blind in some of the movie, and partially blind for most of the movie. For the rest of the movie I lose my mind. It's the most unglamorous, raw, dark role that I've ever done. I'm excited to see how people like it. I hope they get pretty freaked out.
MTV: OK, so now you've done comedy and horror, but if you could have any role, your dream role, what would it be?
Alba: There's something about a "Bourne Identity" role for a chick. What other female action character is there? Sigourney Weaver in "Alien"? Linda Hamilton in "Terminator"? I don't know. What do you think? Drama? Action? [She laughs.] Or sleep?
