Some members have asked what our position is regarding members ship preferences and also how we feel about the character alec.
We have M/L shippers here to all degrees. Many of us started out as fans of the show with the Max and Logan relationship as an added bonus that we also grew to love. In S2 they deconstructed all of the elements of S1 that we loved - Manticore, the darkness, the broken world, Eyes Only missions, Lydecker etc and didn't leave much other than the M/L ship even though that was in bad shape as well.
Many fans here would prefer they go back to the basics of S1 - darkness, intelligent plotting, the broken world, with M/L as a subtle subplot but not the main focus of the show. Max and Logan working together with that underlying UST and romance there but not as the upfront emphasis.
As far as alec I think any antagonism you will see about alec is due to the way the character was used in S2. Instead of being a good secondary character he was pushed too much to the forefront overshadowing not only Logan but Max as well. It sometimes seemed Dark Angel was being changed to Dark alec!
Many Logan fans were also upset by TBA and the fact that alec was given a background episode when they have been waiting for 2 seasons for one for Eyes Only. Add to that the threat of the third party soap operish triangle and you get fans who aren't too happy with the character.
If alec is used in the right way as a brother to Max and a friend to Logan, fans here are willing to accept and even like him.
In sum, you don't have to be a M/L shipper here - we have members who don't ship at all - they are just here for the plots and story. It's good because they bring a different perspective to things. You don't have to hate alec and diss on him to be accepted - we aren't about hating.
M/A shippers won't be happy here because we don't allow threads for them or for alec - we don't want to have the hostility and fighting that seems to develop whenever you have two groups of opposing shippers together.
Other than that we welcome anyone here who wants to discuss and enjoy the show within those guidelines and within the rules as posted in the rules post.
