salmon of doubt by douglas adams sadly the final book...not quite complete Ah, but very good Nonetheless! After suffering The (Underage) Legend of The Seeker, I have two plusses. Zedd and Kahlan were cast suprebly, as was Denna. Darken Rahl cames as paedophiliac uncle, and most of the non-quest related stories were boring, rife with morality tales and, of course, me in tights. This delightful? series have convinced me to raze my ancestral fortress and reclaim the books of power! (Sword of Truth v. 1-9 + Wheel of Time 1-11) give it a try. It's refreshing to find Richard Cypher actually has balls, and has to shave his back regularly. The actor playing his part on the series should start reading for the Hobbitt. Maybe he'll get lucky...

Thanks for this info! (and looks like a great place for your post.) I love this sort of gadget and, especially after lugging my large laptop around an airport a couple days ago, have given some thought to getting one. The fact that you can load it with fic and other text goodies is something I didn't know, and adds to its allure. However, can you load books only from their manufacturer's library? In other words, can you load your Sony with Kindle books from Amazon, for example, and can a Kindle user load from Sony? Since none of the online descriptions I've seen so far say that they can cross libraries, I wasn't sure if it was because they can't, or because they just wanted to avoid advertising for their competitor. Looks like fun! Thanks again for your review! Honestly, I can't say for sure. I do know that both companies books are DRM'ed so presumably neither will work with the other. The sony guy said that the books you get from Sony are unlikely to work on anything else. One big plus for the Sony tho is the puchase system, its modeled on iTunes and while its still a bit buggy it works well. When you purchase a book you store it on your computer and you own it much like a song you buy off iTunes. With Kindle when you download a book (you dont use a computer at all with Kindle so far as i know) you can only keep what you can store on the Kindle itself so once you delete a book you cant get it back. Where as with the Sony were to download a book once i was done with it I could put it on a flash drive and sell it to you or give it to you and you could load it onto your PC then onto your reader. My favorite parts of this product tho are the battery life, I've left mine on for over 24 hours and it still says the bettery is full, it literally only uses the slightest drop of juice to turn a page after which no electricity is used so according to Sony you could read War and Peace three or four times on a single charge. The second thing I love is the screen, it looks just like a printed copy and its so easy to read you could read for 3 or 4 hours straight without discomfort. So far I've got from the Sony Library Body of Lies by David Ignatious which has been made into a film to be released this fall. Guests of the Ayatollah by Mark Bowden Killing Che by Chuck Pfarrer Generation Kill by Evan Wright, already have a hard cover copy but just wanted to have it to reread. Through the promotion of "100 Free Sony Classics" I got The Republic by Plato The Invisible Man by HG Wells The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde Dubliners by James Joyce Don Quixote by Miguel De Cervantes all for free, and I'll probably pick up more soon. I think that depends in the formats that can be read, *pdf, *lit and *doc... You can check the Gutemberg project, and the University of Somewhere (sorry, can't remember now) that had a project to convert all thir paper & film archives to digital files. Lots of EBooks there.

I just finished "U" is for Undertow by Sue Grafton. Five letters to go - I'm sad and wondering what she will do when she finishes the alphabet. I'm going to start "Lonesome Dove" tomorrow. It's my favorite book. I read it every couple of years - all 843 pages.

dzero, you should go to the library and check out a couple of Elmore Leonard books. He's about 85 years old and his writing is as gritty as ever. His most famous quote to beginning writers is: Oh oh - I thought this was the book thread. Whoops. Saved my reply for the correct thread and to tell you no way . Last book you recommended me was Devil and the White City oh the horror of how boring that was . If I could throw a book from one side of this county to the other then you would be ducking right now.

The Devil and the White City - I just checked my shelves and I don't have it.
I did a report once for a class on that book. I remember all the detail from the late 1800s - it just went on and on.
I can't remember recommending it to you. I usually never recommend non-fiction. Oh dang - they say the memory is the first to go.

I bought the book and told you and you told me that the other book by the author about the Hurricane in Houston 1900 was great and I should read it and stick with it when I didn't like it ( it being Devil and White City ) I thought that meant you had read Devil. But writing that isn't as much fun as blaming you ;D

Don't remember which thread but recently commented here that I had never read Stephen King. Still true but I did read a quote from him that I quite liked .
"Monsters are real. Ghosts are real too. They live inside us, and sometimes... they win" -Stephen King
