(yeah, I know, wrong person to start this new thread, but the old one was bulging at the seams...)
Anyone see "The Men Who Stare at Goats" yet? Can't wait! Arranging a real trip to a real cin-e-ma to see it, I'm so psyched!

Last movie I saw was Couples Retreat just cause even if the movie sucks Vince Vaughn is always fun to watch IMO. And this movie was proof of that. ;D

Funny; glad I went -- love me some George Clooney playing a wack-job. Like the NPR review said, not perfect and there are some parts better than others, but worth the time and the $$. However... I confess I kept wishing the Coen Brothers had been the ones to do this. I would love to have seen what they would have done with it! (Right up their alley)

Two recent movies that I caught up with on cable and enjoyed.
Definitely Maybe, surprisingly good. I skipped it in the theaters because it looked like a generic Romantic Comedy but it's really more of a drama and a bittersweet one at that.
Choke a nice dark twisted funny little story. I could have done with out all the flashbacks, I recognized at the end that they were necessary for the story but while they were onscreen they bored me to tears. They rest of the film was good though.

They rest of the film was good though. I liked Choke alot, almost entirely because of Sam Rockwell. Rockwell is a genius that really deserves to be on the Hollywood A-list yet for some reason still isn't. He and Ed Norton are two guys that always felt to me like throwbacks to the days of Orson Wells where amazingly talented actors made amazing films regardless of whether some studio suite thought the film would sell better if someone better looking like Cary Grant or Brad Pitt were in the role.

Other than that though that movie was kinda crappy. Well Shatner was pretty funny as well.

She was in Couples Retreat as well. Agree with the assesment of her as 'too cute for words', her role in Couples Retreat wasn't anything special though. My favorite role of hers is still her teenage prostitute/grifter on Deadwood. Deadwood ftw

I wish I had film review to write , the last two weeks I've looked forward to seeing a new movie but can't find anything to watch Last week I was finally going to get around to seeing Pirate Radio but found it was already gone from the theaters, wtf it only came out 2 or 3 weeks before This week I was all excited to see Up in the Air after watching non stop commercials for it and reading some great online reviews...then I find it's only opening in "select" theaters seems none of the theaters near me were selected

Seriously, he couldn't say enough about it -- road trip to a select theater, maybe? (and geez, if you don't have a select theater nearby -- it'll be another decade before it's here. )

Saw Avatar, thought it was a good movie but nothing mind blowing. There are some good effects and good acting but the story is predictable. The humans vs natives conflict is just way too simplistic for it to be interesting. Been reading some reviews online this morning and I seem to be in the minority on this one, so many people seem to love it. I saw the movie in a 3D theater, would be kind of interesting to see it again in an IMAX just to compare but maybe I'll wait to do that with a movie I truly want to see twice. I hope I don't sound too down on the film, it is entertaining and despite it's length it flies by pretty quickly.
