Louise Lombard is departing the "NCIS" spinoff, from CBS TV Studios, which is set at an NCIS division charged with apprehending dangerous and elusive criminals. LL Cool J and Chris O'Donnell star in the ensemble drama, on which Lombard played Clara, a former major in the military police who became an investigator.
The role, perceived as the female lead, will be recast.

Question: What's the deal with Louise Lombard's exit from NCIS: Los Angeles? I thought she was great. Are they recasting the character, or making a new one entirely? --Amy
Ausiello: That's TBD. My guess? They'll introduce a new character. And as far as why Lombard got the boot, I hear Macy didn't test well with viewers.

I gotta say I'm not surprised she was just plain boring. I found nothing of any interest about her character. I think they should bring in whats her name that played Col. Mann, since Kings got dropped like a bad habit I don't think shes busy.

From Spoiler TV - NCIS: Los Angeles - Casting News
Oscar-winning actress Linda Hunt has come aboard NCIS: Los Angeles as a series regular, sources confirm to me exclusively.
The diminutive, husky-voice Hunt will play an efficient and hard-nosed former film industry technician who now oversees the "backroom" support staff -- the folks tasked with providing everything from micro surveillance cameras to cars for the team.
"Nothing fazes her," says exec producer Shane Brennan. "But as tough as she might seem, she genuinely cares about Callen (Chris O'Donnell) and the team."
Hunt's hiring marks the latest tweak to the spin-off's evolving ensemble. Louise Lombard, who appeared in the backdoor pilot as Macy, was dismissed last month. It's still unclear whether she'll be replaced.

I really like Linda Hunt -- and though she shares not one physical characteristic with Pauley Perrette beyond gender, I see her being able to fill an Abby-like role -- interesting, clever, quirky, bright ... okay, so I'm not saying it would be at all smart for them to try doing a character to character match (and they're trying hard to disguise it as they're doing it), but I'm about twice more likely now to tune in to see what they do in the early eps with this crew than I was before this news!  |
