Chic points out the writers who are in the audience, they stand and we applaud them.

Then they took questions from the audience.

The first question was from a little boy who asked Jessica if there was going to be a Dark Angel video game.

Jessica: Cameron would have control over that, along with Fox. I would only be the product, she then looked over to Chic.

Chic: We are actually in discussions with Fox at the present time.

The next is a guy in the front row who has flowers for Jessica.

A teenage girl had a poster and a poem that she wants to give to Jessica. Valarie passes her microphone down to the girl so she can read it. She goes up to give the poster and poem to Jessica and gets a hug.

Jessica are you nervous at award shows.

Jessica: Yes, and I feel like such a dork at those awards shows. I get so nervous. Your voice echoes... so loud.

A question for all four of the actors: Are you anything like your characters?

Everyone on stage looks at Valarie and they all laugh as do the audience.

Val: I think we all become more like them as the show goes on.

Jessica: You have to be careful when you talk to the writers.

Michael: You end up with interesting nicknames. My father calls me "Junior." I remember telling Chic a story about that, and then it shows up in a script where Logan's family is calling him "Junior."

Jessica: I'm more nervous and girlie. And not genetically engineered.

Michael: I want to be more like Logan Cale. I want to leave myself behind and become that guy.

Val: Want me to blow your knees out?

Alimi: I’d like to be Herbal. He’s the kind of guy who’s got integrity and follow through. He's disciplined.

Val: All the characters on the show have their own strong identities. There are qualities I'd like to have more of. I'm a lot goofier. Original Cindy could be my buddy.

Audience questions about working with directors.

Chic: Our show got ordered in May and started shooting in July. It was hard to assemble the team, especially the directors. The show has the same dramatic demands, with characters and compelling scenes, but it also has the visual style and action. These directors are working with new people, and it's a "getting to know you, getting to know all about you" process.

I hope we can use some of these same directors in the second season.

Audience question about planning story lines; how many seasons do you have planned out?

Alima: He holds up both hands and both feet to indicate 20.

Chic: Cameron says he's got it all planned, but we've been winging it. It's bad, because there's that terror, but it's good, because the writer’s are not steering the season.

Cameron distrusts bibles, the show is revealing itself to them. Only figure it out by writing it. They're never more than three episodes ahead of the one they're working on.

Jessica: It's good that the audience has an opinion. We see the responses from our fans.

Chic: We've experimented with different tones. The episode with the genetic conference, Prodigy, was serious, not a lot of humor, where "Art Attack" was mostly fluff. Fox is a little cautious about the darkness.

Audience question about whether the show will ever be shot outside Seattle.

Jessica: Hawaii.

Val: Florida.

Audience question about whether there's going to be a movie.

Chic: We can't take the show on the road. We’re routinely over budget. It's too premature to speculate on a movie. We'd need years of success to do a movie. Cameron is more focused on doing a good TV show.

Someone in the audience asked, “Do you know if they’ll be a second season. I’m asking because of the negative Entertainment Weekly article that said the show was too expensive.

Chic: We're getting respectable numbers that justify the budget. We’re working hard to wrestle the show into the budget, and making progress. We are more consistently on budget. It's a balancing act.

Alimi: Started to say something, but Valerie put her hand over his mouth

The audience burst out laughing.

The next question was, “Jessica, could you beat someone up.

Jessica: I don’t know, I’ve never tried in real life, but yesterday after I read that Entertainment Weekly article, I went to my Thai boxing training. My trainer told me, “You should meditate, be more relaxed and stop trying to kill me.”

Michael: You could easily beat me up.

Audience question as to how the actors got started acting.

Val: I did commercials in high school, enough to keep me busy. I took acting lesions and studied a lot.

There's a lot of rejection. You have to know what you want to do, and why you want to do it. Then you can enjoy the process and not let the rejection get you down.

Alimi: I grew up in the Bronx, I did community theater first. I took classes, studied, got some commercials. I made friends with everybody. You need friends with agents who can who can show your pictures.

The next questions was asked of Michael. Did you get your start in music?

Val: He was in New Kids on the Block. (By this time the audience is laughing at everything.)

Michael: Well, laughing, when I was in Mexico City with Menudo... [everyone laughs; he's completely deadpan]. I did theater in college.

I was a Broadway theater usher 10 years ago, and watched people like Kevin Spacey every night.

It's not about sitting on a panel like this. This is great, but you have to love storytelling, and this is a craft. You have to know what you're doing, and hit the yellow tape on the floor. It's daunting. I'm getting nervous just thinking about it.

How many outtakes were there about pronouncing the Indian guy's name about "Cold Comfort."

Chic: [says the name perfectly] Mr. Gurmook Sivapathasundaram, and we rehearsed it a lot.

Jessica: Speaking of names, how about Pierpont Lemkin.

Michael: Some of the names we have to say.

Chic: It's so the legal department will clear it. There won't be anyone named Pierpont Lemkin.

Jessica, how do you like riding a motorcycle.

Jessica: I like dirt bikes, because you ride them off road. It’s so much safer. I don’t trust vehicles anywhere near a motorcycle. A friend was almost killed in a motorcycle accident. It's really dangerous and I wouldn't ride in real life.

I do like riding it on the show. It feels tough riding the bike, it goes really fast. I learned to ride it out in the desert.

Is it hard setting a show in the future.

Chic: Since the Pulse froze technology we don’t have a lot of gadgets. It's not really science fiction, our show is about people. It's more fun for production's consideration, because they can call our world the future but the progress starts now.

Michael: And don’t forget those hoverdrones.

Chic: There's the hoverdrones and the genetic technology, but I don’t call that Science Fiction. We have that now. This show is "Five minutes into the future."

A question from a member of the audience who know about the upcoming episode with Original Cindy's lesbian kiss? Has there been a response from the gay community?

Val It will be good, I hope. But that episode hasn’t been screened yet. There's no reason for a negative response. It’s treated really well. I think most people like it, too.

Jessica, how does Max compare to other TV action heroines like the Bionic woman.

Jessica: Unfortunately, I'm going to be 20 in 2 months, so I've never seen the Bionic Woman. I’ve never watched a lot of TV, I’ve been busy doing this since I was 12 years old. Just the news at 5:30 in the morning, and the cooking channel when I get a chance.

Michael, what’s the worst thing that’s happened to you on the show.

Michael: Hmmm, well Logan does a lot of looking at the computer and talking, so I realized I could have the script on the screen, and it would save all that memorizing. So I go over it with the computer guys and they scan the script into the computer.

We start shooting and the sound guys go, you’ll have to turn off the computer, we can hear the computer. "Sheer terror." I made sure I knew my lines after that.

How does the network treat the show.

Chic: They've found an understanding with standards and practices. As far as creativity goes, by the time they figure it out, it's already been shot.

Jessica: They don't understand the slang.

Chic: With the network, it's a dance. They want the most commercial thing. "Couldn't your show be more like Ally McBeal?"

Good ideas come from everywhere, including the network. We don't always agree. In general, it's a good relationship with Fox.

I don’t watch a lot of TV. I’ve never seen Buffy or any fantasy or Science Fiction on TV. Dark Angel is Max escaping her environment and trying to heal, but she flees to a broken world. It's about the character finding her wholeness and humanity.

A woman has something to give Jessica, the security guards stop her, say they'll give to her later.

Jessica: I won’t be here after so could you bring it up. Security brings it up to the stage. It's a collage.

They all look at it and Michael points out the bar code on the back of the poster board.

A man in the audience doesn’t really have a question. He wants to tell this long story about being a stand-in on Terminator Two and how James Cameron asks for retake after retake.

Jessica: That's a great story. Thank you.

A woman has a story about James Cameron chasing down some guy who hit her car.

Chic: That’s sound like something he would do.

They all stood up, thanked the audience, and said goodbye.

Security blocked the stage, and the actors left.

The end

All this is from my notes. It doesn't sound that entertaining when it's written out. I should have asked shy to beta it for me.

The audience was very quiet, I never heard any talking, and there was continual laughing at almost everything the four cast actors said. It was really a fun night.

I have more personal observations to make later. Like which two actors kept touching each other, little nudges and looking at each other and laughing. This happened a lot.

Hey Aerie, thanks so much for sharing this! I would've loved to be there.

I disagree. ;) I enjoyed it a lot. It was funny and together with the pictures I could imagine those 5 perfectly. They seem to be really comfortable around each other. I know this "we are a big family and have a lot of fun together" philosophy is sometimes just stuff to promote a show or movie. But I really believe it was true for the DA folks. Look at Jess and Val they still meet each other and Michael and Jess ... (it's so sad it's over :'(!)

sigh ... please, please, please ... can't wait for your observations. And again, thanks!

Yes, thanks very much for sharing, Aerie. :)
I’ll read it for breakfast tomorrow and am sure it will make me happy for the whole day. ;D (Those MW-pictures alone would be enough :D)

Me too, absolutely! And rest assured there wasn't a reader on this board who wasn't getting it all, imagining everything playing out as we read... all we could ask for! :-*)

Loved the photos, of course, but I think my favorite thing was the info that the genesis of Jonas calling Logan "Junior" was that MW's dad called him that. ;D

(remember there are many of us who are latecomers to the DA thing and missed out all this goodness the first time around... :-/)

Thanks a bazillion, once again, for sharing!

Thank you AngelZ for the wonderful Avatar picture.

Man oh man I need to find the time for a DA S1 rewatch.
Probably should have done that last night instead of staying up until 2am making iMovie home movies ::)
